20150802 10:20 3dc TW - look at the maps Buckminster Fuller did for the mil in WW-ii.

One ocean world, one air world, choke points world etc, one land world.
20150801 18:49 Pappy RIP "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.

He's out of more than bubblegum now.
20150801 15:08 Shipman And O to be a Turban Roadie
20150801 15:07 Shipman

TW, someone said in a bad paraphrase, everyone else fought with lead and steel, the US fought with aluminum and gasoline.
20150801 09:45 Pappy Ooh - a FrankG and the Turbans annual summer tour!
20150801 08:58 trailing wife Sorry, that final oaragraph was me. I forgot to close the italics HTML... a statement I once upon a time could not have conceived if making. Y'all are an influence in me, to be sure. ;-)
20150801 08:56 trailing wife This is sooooo cool, OR why I read just about everything that happens to pass my way:

HISTORY, ORDNANCE, WORLD WAR 2
Was The US Army Really Stupid During WW2?

Key graph:

That being said, there is much more to the story. In many ways the US was fighting a different kind of war than the rest of the world. While most of the world was fighting a war of strategy and tactics, the way it had always been done, the US was fighting a war of information, logistics and mobility. In many ways this was due to where the US was and what the country needed to do to if it was going to fight a war.

Goes back to the questions of tactics, strategy, and logistics, limning the utter necessity of the third as driving the other two in a very bright light, a seriously 'Let not the perfect be the enemy of the good' kind of way.
20150731 22:05 3dc OS - your points are one of the reasons my posts are down. Feel like I just am jousting windmills...
20150731 22:03 3dc Frank - enjoy Tahoe
20150731 22:03 3dc As to the non physical sector boundary bit no clue as to what windows did there but fsck approves of all the partitions.
20150731 22:01 3dc BTW on windows partitions...
My solution worked as most linux/unixes process /dev in the the mount table before UUID. The problem was I was auto mounting /sda2 on /windows rw. It would err out and blow the mount before the UUIDs were processed. When I changed to /dev/sda? for everything the other mounts worked. It seems a windows 10 shutdown doesn't always leave the partition in a pristine rw mountable state. Changed to a ro mount and problem went away. MS playing file system games again. Sigh...
20150731 21:32 Frank G just FYI - heading out Sunday for my annual family retreat/pilgrimage to Tahoe/Eastern Sierras. Most everyone going down to my Granddaughter. Will be posting from strange IPs as Frank G on the road.

I reeeeeaaaaally need a break/vacation. Excellent time for it
20150731 14:09 OldSpook The persecution of Christians, the preferential treatment of transvestites and transgenders and other psychologically abnormal people, the social engineering by progressives - plus the abuse of warfighters and the promotion of blanket folders and political sycophants to flag rank...

Obama's work is beginning to show its results.

The Army is nearly 14% short of the recruits it will need to fill its ranks,

20150731 00:40 3dc I see it now.

20150730 13:21 3dc A heads up for anybody who dual boots windows and is upgrading windows! In the last stage of upgrade windows changes all the drive UUIDS which will mess up linux/unix/apple boots. Change your /etc/fstab to use the "/dev/sda(?)" directions instead of UUID ones. It also changes starting block to not even numbers as you see when you run "fdisk /dev/sda".
Example of the fstab changes:
# / was on /dev/sda7 during installation
UUID=898ad72b-f4d9-46fa-805e-31f9e1344233 / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1
change to:
/dev/sda7 / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1
20150729 08:37 Pappy The Danish vessel is a patrol craft. Much different than "littoral warfare.

20150729 07:40 Deacon Blues Blinky might be dead! For two years. Tuberculosis.
20150728 23:44 Thing From Snowy Mountain The LCS has a modular weapons system framework designed by someone who didn't understand the word 'modular.'

If you want to see how the LCS was _supposed_ to work, look at that Danish ship class I can't remember.
20150728 23:43 Thing From Snowy Mountain Shipman: at least the F-35 can carry weapons if the need arises, despite the Lockheed home office's best efforts.
20150728 20:31 Pappy Oh, they'll let Pollard leave. Question is whether Israel will do more than just let him in.

Ship: Irish setters ain't got no brains. Still...

Dunno about Jeb. American Spectator likes his track record. Question is: what plays in Tallahassee gonna play in D.C.? And for how much is he gonna sell out?
20150728 19:31 3dc Israel's Justice Minister MK Ayelet Shaked has confirmed minutes ago that the US parole board has recommended that Jonathan Pollard be released this coming Nov. 20th after 30 years in prison. It is not clear if Pollard will be allowed to leave the US and move to Israel.
20150728 18:10 Shipman Also: Pappy would you agrees with this statement?

Winston is about as stable as pram with 3 Irish Setters. Good writer means well, brave to a fault, something of a disaster. Still?

I made that up of course, I will investigate
20150728 17:01 Shipman Ima start to worry about myself, defending JEB! And the F-35. :)

Pappy if I say a good word abut the LCS sanction me.
