Tehran signals no retaliation against Israel after drones attack Iran
2024-04-20
A wise decision.
[GEO.TV] Explosions echoed over an Iranian city on Friday in what sources described as an Israeli attack, but Tehran played down the incident and indicated it had no plans for retaliation - a response that appeared gauged towards averting region-wide war.

Iranian media and officials described a small number of explosions, which they said resulted from Iran's air defences hitting three drones over the city of Isfahan. Notably, they referred to the incident as an attack by "infiltrators", rather than by Israel, obviating the need for retaliation.

A senior Iranian official told Rooters there were no plans to respond against Israel for the incident.

"The foreign source of the incident has not been confirmed. We have not received any external attack, and the discussion leans more towards infiltration than attack," the official said.

#9  I think it is a great story as long as you don't think about it too hard.

I've never set off a nuclear bomb in anger, but a bit of googling suggests that for a high-altitude EMP blast (HEMP), you want it to detonate at about 18-50 miles up, let's call it 20. Twenty miles is twice the advertised F-35 ceiling of 50,000 ft which is roughly 10 miles. So HEMP is a better job for a ballistic missile.

An F-35 has a combat range of around 600 miles which will get you to the Iranian border, but Tehran is around 900 miles, so you need a tanker along the way. If you are going to put all your (nuclear) eggs in one basket, you best watch that basket very carefully, so you want to take some friends for protection against enemy fighters and SAMs.

As much as I like the idea of nuking Tehran, if this were my script, I'd have Mossad deliver the bomb to a self-storage, set a timer for those dramatic shots of an red LED display ticking down, and make their getaway in a rusty old mini-van - one with an old-fashioned ignition system, so it still runs after the bomb goes off.

Oh my goodness — was it shrooms or acid this time, dude? Because that goes well beyond the hallucinations caused by today’s really good weed.

#4  The Truth about Israel's attempted attack on Iran according to Pepe Escobar.
An excerpt from his Xeet:

THE REAL STORY OF THE ISRAELI COUNTER RESPONSE:
...
Israel initially chose to respond with extreme force.
An F-35 loaded with a nuclear bomb was sent east over Jordan.

The mission: cause a high-altitude detonation over Iran that would provoke a surge in the high-capacity power lines, crippling Iran's electric grid, as well as disabling all electronic devices.

An EMP attack.

However...

... As the Israeli F-35 was leaving Jordanian airspace it was shot down by the Russian Air Force...

#2  " A wise decision."

Yes. And from Iran, of all places. Perhaps there is hope.
