#2 Yeah, they were fighting in Belarus, the Baltic States, Ukraine, and Eastern Poland at the time.

Although the Normandy landings did help them strategically as it drained the reserve German forces on the eastern front.

#5 ^Yep. And what remained was in Germany defending against American and British strategic bombing. Only a couple air wings were around for D-Day and they had as much impact as a balloon against a brick wall.

Combination of American aerial bombing campaigns and Russian AD and CAPs folded into the demise of the Luftwaffe.
