This is one of my templated scenarios for Arma 2. Admiral Gorkov is Chernarus' top theater commander for eastern Chernarus seaboard, controls about a battalion of ground forces and several ships in the region. I do not yet have a photo play for this scenario, but the mission description follows:
Rebel commanders in northeastern Chernarus have adopted a strategy in recent weeks whereby their forces will be ordered to move to and to occupy several key crossroads near Dubrovka and Gorka. Their aim is not so much to gain yardage or to control villages as to disrupt normal civilian and commercial traffic in the region. The enemy attacking main force consists of a mobile rifle company which includes both light and motorized infantry. In addition, the rebels like to move several infiltration squads further south to impede our forces and delay our reaction times. Those forces can include light as well as motorized infantry units.
Chernarus Naval Forces have several reconnaissance options to monitor any enemy buildup prior to any advance towards the south which includes SU-25 and drone overflights. The advance notice advantage could be anywhere from zero to six hours.
Admiral Gorkov has committed a naval infantry light rifle company as his quick reaction force (QRF), but they are kept near Miroslavl, which is a five hour boat ride from there to Berezino. Not all of these forces are immediately available, nor will arrive at the same time due to differences in readiness and location, as well an availability of transport watercraft. Other more mobile forces, such as heliborne light infantry, have been committed elsewhere. The main body of the QRF, your platoon, will arrive intact, but the delay between then and the arrival of the last platoon could be as long as two hours. And since the agreement with the governor of the Berezino municipality, that standing forces other than a token force are not to be kept within five kilometers of Berezino, we are left with a seaborne option only. In the instance in which enemy movement south is detected, the Chernarus Army will commit a BRDM scout car platoon and a supply platoon to be kept near the factory north of Solnichni. Naval air forces based at Balota will have an SU-25 flight available as close air support. The admiral is pondering making a SEAD flight available in case the rebels decide to deploy AA guns.
Your mission upon landing will be to move your forces to a position where you can direct airstrikes against enemy technicals and armor vehicles. Enemy forces at the crossroads are expected to be very heavy. In most instances, your forces will be outnumbered, sometimes heavily outnumbered. Direct airstrikes as long as you can without seriously exposing your forces to destruction, then withdraw into Berezino, to resupply and hold for further orders. The mission is a success if you can stay at the crossroads for at least a hour, and then withdraw into Berezino, losing no more than 20 percent of your forces.

Or it could mean you’re the spirit too delicate and I’m the wizard and it’s Anasigma that’s the damn’d witch Sycorax. I’d like that. But that sh*t ain’t the truth. The truth is, you’re the delicate spirit, and I’m the freckled whelp hag-born. But I’m trying, Nick. I’m trying REAL HARD to be the wizard.”

Certainly explains a lot. And also alters my approach - no need to reason with the mentally ill. Just restrain them from hurting themselves and others, as gently as possible but still be forceful and dont back down.

The more Progressivism dominates individual's thoughts and permeates society, the more collectivist, coarse and violent the person and nation becomes.

|20150829 12:23||badanov||The Facebook journalists group I am a part of had a brief discussion about inviting Jared Taylor into their group, presumably about raising the profile of the efforts in Novorossiya. Taylor has been visiting Russia of late, the last time in St. Petersburg to attend an international conference of white power, something along those lines. The conference was sponsored in part bt the Russian patriotic political party Rodina and by the government of the Russian Federation. |
Also in attendance was the guy who runs Stormfront.org, as well as others. In other words, a real rogue's gallery.
I knew the Russian journalists who are part of the group knew that, so rather than launch into the detail, I told them it will be easier later on down the road to explain to Americans why they didn't invite and cultivate a relationship with Taylor et al, than to explain why they did.

Once I found out the truth, I have always said rebel forces have Russian officers, Russian cadre, Russian log1stics, and to a much smaller extent, Russian military units deployed as fire brigades.
That is why I don't think there'll be a settlement unless the Ukrainians agree to Autonomy and to amnesty.

I think what Mr. Fineman's trying to say is that, thanks to Mr. Obama's fracturing of the Party, Mr. Biden doesn't have a chance with the "normal" Democrat voter; that he has to cobble together a win using as many voters as he can gain from from Mr. Obama's voter coalition.

"mashup of Black Lives Matter; pro-immigration activism; non-European cultural consciousness; tolerance of all religions, lifestyles and genders; genuine urgency about the fate of the planet; confidence in technology, social media and the sharing economy; and skepticism about America’s right, power and duty to lead the world."
|20150828 21:01||Pappy||one from wretchard:|
Howard Fineman, writing in the Huffington Post described the Democratic Party he was hoping would be born:
If Biden is to have a chance, he’ll have to somehow reach out to minority voters, who so far seem cool to or even estranged from Sanders and Clinton. He’d also have to somehow reach out to a new version of the party that is out there waiting to be born, a yet-to-be-defined mashup of Black Lives Matter; pro-immigration activism; non-European cultural consciousness; tolerance of all religions, lifestyles and genders; genuine urgency about the fate of the planet; confidence in technology, social media and the sharing economy; and skepticism about America’s right, power and duty to lead the world.
Yet in the wake of worldwide trends it may be reasonable to ask whether Fineman's vision of the Democratic Party hoping to be born is actually the one waiting to die? The actual world of 2015 is is a world with altogether too much immigration, consisting of people fleeing in fear. It is a time of a tolerance of a religion which believes nearly all lifestyles and some genders should be persecuted. A religion that has produced almost no technology yet which cleverly uses that invented by others, like social media, for their evil purposes. In other words the empirical earth is full of people fleeing from all that Fineman’s vision holds dear towards everything it abjures.
The director of Human Rights Watch asks, ‘why does nobody care’ not just about the masses of refugees themselves the carnage they are fleeing from? After all, the West cared enough once, so what changed in the interim? What changed in the interval was Western confidence in the normativeness of its values and its ability to intervene in global events. The political delegitimization of Operation Iraqi Freedom added to the disappointment in the Arab Spring has pretty much soured the West on anything except watching the tragedy passively unfold. The “skepticism about America’s right, power and duty to lead the world”, the logical consequence of ‘no more Vietnams’, ‘no more Iraqs’ - no mas - period.
What’s left is to sit there and take it. Accept eight hundred thousand refugees in 2015 and a million will come the year after and a million and a half the year after that. A snowball, once it starts downhill, gathers up more material with it. In the end even the wolves, having driven out their human capital, will finally follow the refugees to the West, where they will presumably be welcomed for their “non-European cultural consciousness”.
The obvious problem with Fineman's plan isn’t the evil GOP; it's with arithmetic. Herbert Stein’s dictum that “if something cannot go on forever, it will stop” threatens to derail the simple scheme. The “social engineering” envisioned by the enlightened might collide with the endurance limit of physical systems. Instead of a Democratic party “waiting to be born” we may instead get an “accident waiting to happen”.
|20150828 18:12||SteveS||Just heard a piece on National People's Radio about the 10th anniversary of hurricane Katrina. They spent almost the entire time blaming the disaster on President Bush.|
There was an interview with a (presumably fat) angry black woman blaming Bush for not showing up sooner and not doing more. There was an interview with an angry black man blaming Bush for being lazy and uncaring because he flow over the scene rather than personally laying sandbags.
No mention of the Ray Nagin Memorial Motor Pool. No mention of candy-ass state governor Blanco refusing to declare an emergency despite pleading from the Feds.
The buried lede was Bush visiting a school that had been destroyed in the flood, was rebuilt with private funds as a charter school, and now has a 100% graduation rate.
