Key Daesh Members Killed in Kabul: Islamic Emirate
[ToloNews] The Islamic Emirate in a statement announced that key members of ISIS have been killed.

According to a statement, Qari Fatih, the head of the security department of this group was killed in an operation in PD17 of Kabul.

Qari Fatih has been involved in numerous events including attacks on diplomatic locations and mosques in Kabul, the statement said.

"He was a ISIS member and before that he was head of the east zone and currently he was head of security," said Bilal Karimi, deputy front man of Islamic Emirate.

The statement mentioned that in another operation of the security forces, Ijaz Amin Ahangar, the head of ISIS in the Indian subcontinent, was killed along with two others 15 days before in Kabul.
Taliban forces killed Qari Fateh, the regional ISIS intelligence and operations chief, during a raid in Kabul over the weekend, Zabihullah Mujahid, the main spokesman for the Taliban government, said in a statement.

Earlier this month in a separate operation in Kabul, three ISIS members — including senior ISIS leader Ijaz Amin Ahingar — were killed.

Mujahid said that a number of other ISIS members, including foreign nationals planning deadly attacks, also have been detained in recent days.

Daily Evacuation Brief March 1, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • TALIBAN LEADERS CLAIM TO HAVE KILLED 2 SENIOR ISIS LEADERS IN A SECURITY OPERATION IN KABUL – The Taliban announced they had killed 2 senior ISIS leaders in a recent Kabul security operation. Qari Fateh, the military leader of the terrorist group and one of the reputed masterminds of the attacks on diplomatic, religious, and other Taliban facilities. The identity of the other fatality has not been released. An ISIS-K leader appeared to have confirmed the losses in a social media post that has since been deleted.

  • SIGNIFICANT UPTICK IN REPORTED HOMICIDES OVER THE LAST TWELVE DAYS – Most of the murders that have been reported have not resulted in arrests. While all the victim’s identities are not known, at least 8 had served in the military under the former regime. The crimes are similar in that most of the bodies are discovered and dumped in areas of cities where low vehicle and pedestrian traffic occurs. Based on a sampling of several national news outlets, we assess that 32 murders have been reported over the last twelve days. All of the victims were males. In 19 of the cases, the victim’s bodies were dumped in the aforementioned manner. It is possible that a systematic program has been launched. Only 4 of the cases resulted in the apprehension of suspects and family members and friends say that no investigations are being actively pursued in the majority of the cases. It is possible that an official or, an organized crime plot is underway.

  • TALIBAN SECURITY FORCES BRACE FOR SPRING VIOLENCE – As March arrives, sources say the Taliban are preparing for a renewed onslaught of fighting as Resistance groups may have chosen the month as the official launch of the Spring Campaign season. While intermittent attacks continued throughout the Winter, most were focused on limited objectives and did not escalate into major engagements.

The National Resistance Front (NRF), arguably the largest and most organized of the militia groups, was said to have actively recruited new fighters throughout the winter months and rumors of arms shipments and supply deliveries from ‘external partners’ have persisted. Other groups, such as the Afghanistan Liberation Movement (ALM) and the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF), were also said to have rallied more fighters to their respective causes. It is not clear how many Resistance fighters are arrayed in opposition to the Taliban at this time. However, the spate of attacks that took place over the latter part of Winter leads us to believe that coordination between the groups is increasing.

For its part, the Taliban has adhered to a regular schedule of training new recruits. The recruits attend three months of training with a sizable portion dedicated to ‘religious studies’.
...at the end of which, the lads ae fondly known as cannon fodder.
The total end-strength estimates of the Taliban Ministry of Defense vary widely with most analyses suggesting the number lies somewhere between 70,000 and 100,000.

There has been little change reported to the tactical disposition of the Taliban forces since the conclusion of hostilities in Panjshir at the end of 2022. The only significant troop displacements that occurred over the Winter were in response to Pakistani reinforcements along the Durand Line (Spin Boldak in particular) and the recent reinforcement of the border with Tajikistan. The Taliban made several announcements concerning the reconstitution of some air assets, but sources familiar with the program say that bench stocks of replacement parts are running low and the repair work has been executed to very low standards. Likewise, the Taliban’s vehicle fleets are beginning to eat through repair parts at an alarming rate and the losses from attrition and frequent wrecks have taken a heavy toll on available means of transportation. If 2023 proves to be as active as 2022 was, Taliban Commanders will be forced to improvise in order to move their forces around the country.

CONFLICT TRACKER
Takhar:: NRF fighters launched a night attack against the building housing the Taliban’s security forces command staff in Dasht Qala district. Four rockets were fired at the building. Some damage was reported, but no information on casualties.

NEXT 24 HOURS
HELMAND ROUNDUP TO CONTINUE – The searches for former ANDSF personnel in Helmand are expected to continue throughout the week. The Taliban have reports of three large arms caches in the Province and are concerned the weapons and ordinance will be moved soon and distributed among Resistance militias. It is thought that nearly 100 ANDSF personnel have been detained and interrogated to try and find the locations of the weapons, but these efforts have yet to produce results. At-risk Afghans residing in the Province should be aware of these search operations and former ANDSF personnel would be wise to consider leaving for a time.

(ISIS) in Syria.

She promoted ISIS "by acting as a housewife and wife of persons that were active in IS, helped ISIS maintain and consolidate its position in the area," according to the Court of Kolding in southern Denmark.

According to local media outlets, the woman entered Syria with her husband and six children in 2015, where she lived as a mother and housewife in Raqqa city, which served as the capital of ISIS’ proclaimed caliphate.

The court also ruled that the woman, who also has a Bosnian citizenship, should be deported from Denmark with a permanent entry ban. The verdict can be appealed within the next 14 days.

The woman was repatriated from Roj camp in northeastern Syria in October 2021.

On November 18, 2022, a court in Copenhagen sentenced another Danish woman to three years behind bars for supporting ISIS in Syria.

Captured in al-Sulaymaniyah, Turkey's intelligence brings a senior PKK commander to Turkey

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
has captured a senior commander of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in transborder intelligence action, Ottoman Turkish media said on Tuesday.

The PKK commander, identified as Ramazan Gunes and codenamed "Sores/Soresger," was apprehended in northeastern Iraq and moved across the borders to Turkey.

The Ottoman Turkish National Intelligence Agency had been monitoring Gunes for nearly a year and located him in Iraq's governorate of Suleymaniyah, the state-owned Anadolu news agency said.

Reports said Gunes was involved in a series of 12 attacks attributed to the PKK/KCK between 2011 and 2017 in the Cukurca district of Hakkari province in southeastern Turkey.

These attacks, according to the aforementioned reports, resulted in the death of 57 soldiers, a policeman, and two village guards.

Gunes, who joined the group in 2008, is said to have operated in the Hakkari province, as well as in Iraq and Syria for several years.

Russian military convoy enters northern countryside of Syria’s Aleppo
[NPASyria] A major Russian military convoy entered on Tuesday into the northern countryside of Aleppo, locally known as Shahba Region, via al-Ziyara crossing.

The Russian forces conducted a patrol on the contact lines with areas under the control of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
and its affiliated factions.

Ottoman Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), are controlling the city of Azaz and its countryside in the east of Shahba Region, north of Aleppo.

An exclusive source told North Press that 15 cars and an armored vehicle accompanied by two Russian helicopters roamed the positions of the Russian forces in the town of Tel Rifaat and the villages of Harbel, al-Wahshiya, Faisal Mill.

Several cars and an armored vehicle carrying Russian and Syrian commanders entered the Russian base in the village of al-Wahshiya in Tel Rifaat countryside and returned after half an hour, the source added.

The town of Tel Rifaat, 35 km north of Aleppo city, has been a shelter for Afrin displaced people since 2018 following the Ottoman Turkish invasion of Afrin and its countryside which resulted in the displacement of about 300.000 of the original inhabitants.

There are 1.662 displaced families from Afrin and 35 displaced families from Idlib live in Tel Rifaat, according to statistics carried out by Autonomous Administration of Afrin, which is currently operating in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

There are also 630 families that include about 3.000 people of original residents in the town, according to the same source.
