Missing Red Sea yacht turns up in Djibouti safely after attack
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A private yacht with three Russians and two Egyptians on board which had been reported missing in the Red Sea off Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
turned up in Djibouti on Thursday after what the owner said was an attack by unknown button men.
Pirates?
The 30 Minutes sent its last signal on Tuesday night off the coast of Jizan, a port in southern Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian Peninsula. Until the accession of King Salman the place was under the thumb of Wahhabi holy men and was the driving force behind Salafist terrorism world-wide. Western intelligence agencies, even the dumb ones, were wise to this from at least September 12th, 2001, but politicians were reluctant to upset the international applecart. Once we started assassinating people instead of invading them the Saudis quietly folded the Death to Infidels tent, did some assassinating of their own, started modernizing, and pretended that Osama bin Laden thing had never happened...
near the Yemeni border before appearing to go missing, owner Dmitriy Chuguevskiy had told Rooters.

"According to the people on board ... they were going in international waters off Yemen. They were attacked from the Yemen side, shot at ... but they managed to escape even though there was substantial damage to the yacht," Chuguevskiy said on Thursday.

Several vessels have been attacked in recent years off the coast of Yemen which has been torn apart by an eight-year conflict between the Iran-backed Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
militia, which controls north Yemen and the coast near where the ship is believed to have been, and an Arab-led military coalition which backs Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
Or possibly not pirates. How exciting.
The yacht managed to reach Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
before finally making its way today to Djibouti, said Chuguevskiy, a Russian-Italian national based in the United Arab Emirates.

The ship had not been fitted with the standard AIS ship tracking system which shipping data trackers use, and its disappearance had also been reported by the Russian embassy in Saudi Arabia.

Reported fighting in Sudan's Darfur mars fragile truce, fmr. Gen. Omar al-Bashir moved to army hospital
Hudna! Hudna! Hudna!!
[An Nahar] Fighting intensified in Sudan's war-ravaged province of Darfur during a fragile three-day truce between the country's battling top generals, killing an estimated dozens of people, residents said Thursday.

The truce eased fighting in the country's capital, creating a lull that allowed foreign governments to evacuate thousands of their nationals. Tens of thousands of Sudanese traveled to their country's land borders with Egypt, Chad and Æthiopia, and to a port city on the country's Red Sea.

The new festivities targeted civilians in the capital city of Genena, the residents said, an area that is regularly roiled by outbursts of brutal tribal violence. They described attacks by fighters, mostly wearing the uniforms of the country's powerful paramilitary, on several neighborhoods across the city early Thursday, forcing many families to leave their homes.

"The attacks come from all directions," said Amany, a Genena resident who asked to withhold her family name for her safety. "All are fleeing."

Much attention has been centered on the capital's intense fighting, including Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s and artillery and dronezaps, since the country's military and its powerful paramilitary known as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) started battling for key government institutions and military bases on April 15.

The fighting in the capital has created dire conditions for many struggling to obtain food and water, and electricity is cut off across much of the capital and other cities. Multiple aid agencies have had to suspend operations, a heavy blow in a country where a third of the population of 46 million relies on humanitarian assistance.

But there are now more indications that other remote provinces are witnessing deadly violence.

Fighting in Genena first escalated earlier this week. Residents reported widespread looting and destruction of government offices and aid agencies' compounds in the city including U.N. premises and the headquarters of the Sudanese Red Islamic Thingy.

Adam Haroun, a political self-proclaimed genius in West Darfur, said dozens of people were killed over the past two days in Genena. He said the fighting "with light and heavy weapons" has already turned into tribal violence.

Speaking over the phone from Genena's western neighborhood of Gamarek, Haroun said tribal fighters were roaming the streets, destroying and looting "whatever they found." He said Genena's main open market was completely destroyed.

"The battles are raging right now," he said over the phone, the sound of gunfire overtaking his voice at times. "It's scorched-earth war."

Volker Perthes, the U.N. envoy for Sudan, said late Wednesday that the Genena festivities have been centered on civilians and run the risk of kicking off a dangerous cycle of violence between rival tribes.

Sudan: Omar Al-Bashir moved to military hospital
Not lost or escaped after all.
[Garowe] Deposed Sudanese leader Omar al-Bashir
...Former President-for-Life of Sudan He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself head cheese. He fell out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Hee was overthrown by popular consent in 2019. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it...
was moved to an army hospital after heavy fighting broke out leading to a jailbreak last week, military officials said, amid speculations that the former strongman managed to escape from prison during the unprecedented melee.

Fighting broke out between the Sudan Armed Forces [SAF] and the paramilitary wing Rapid Support Forces [RSF] with both claiming to be interested in restoring civilian rule in the country. It is during the battles that a number of inmates managed to escape, leading to speculations about the whereabouts of the former leader.

In a statement, the army said that al-Bashir and 30 other prisoners were moved to Aliyaa Hospital which handles patients in the forces, abruptly ending his stay at Kober prison in Bahri in northern Khartoum where he was being held with several other former government officials.

"Former President Bashir’s family members said they are waiting for the fighting to end so he can go to trial and prove his innocence," said Al Jazeera’s Hiba Morgan, reporting from Khartoum.

The release of about 25,000 convicted criminals added to a growing sense of lawlessness in Khartoum, where residents have reported worsening insecurity with widespread looting and gangs roaming the streets.
Goobjoog News adds:
A number of Sudanese Islamist hardliners have beat feet from Kober prison in Khartoum, local media reports.

Among those who escaped are Ahmed Harun, a former official in the ousted regime of Omar Al-Bashir who reported that he had managed to escape from the correctional facility along with a number of other Islamist hardliners, including Ali Osman Taha, Awad El Jaz, and Nafi Ali Nafi.

Harun, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hauge was however quoted by the Tayba Satellite TV station saying that he and other former government officials who had escaped will be ready to defend themselves before a judge.

He added that they decided to flee the prison to escape heavy bombardment and repeated power and water outage in the facility since fighting between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Raid Support Forces (RSF) broke out on April 15th.

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
the RSF has accused the Sudanese Army of being behind the release of the former government officials from prison.

Nigerian High Court Denies Bail To Alleged Terrorists' Negotiator, Tukur Mamu
[SAHARAREPORTERS] A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has refused to approve the bail application filed by detained alleged terrorists’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu.

The court denied him bail on the ground of lack of merit and the applicant’s failure to provide sufficient materials to move the court to exercise its description in his favour.

Justice Inyang Ekwo who dismissed the bail application in his ruling on Thursday held that Mamu failed to rebut the prosecution’s claim that there was a likelihood of him committing more offences.

Justice Ekwo further noted that although Mamu claimed that the State Security Service (SSS), where he was being kept, could not address his health challenges, the court would have to consider other issues before taking a decision.

According to the judge, where the custodian lacks the medical facility to take care of the medical condition of the defendant but is capable of ensuring that the defendant has access to a medical facility suitable for his medical condition, the court would not grant the bail.

Justice Ekwo added that where the defendant willfully rejects the medical facility given to him by his custodian merely for the fact that such facility is not up to the standard that he expects, then, he has no good medical grounds for application for bail.

He further noted that the defendant must understand that his medical care is at the expense of the state and must be reasonable in his demands, adding that evidence before the court revealed that it was after the defendant declined the DSS medical services that he was taken to Arewa Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Center, Jabi by the security outfit.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, there was only one thought in the mouse's mind: I can do this! I can do this! Then the trap sprung...
the judge said that the SSS insisted that the hospital was sufficiently capable of handling the medical condition of Mamu and that it was able and willing to take responsibility for his treatment.

Justice Ekwo also said that the SSS further undertook to ensure that Mamu had access to his daily medication for the management of his pre-existing health condition as well as ensuring access to adequate tests and treatments when necessary, during the trial.

He held that in exercising his discretion on the application for bail on allegations contained in a charge sheet punishable with imprisonment for a term exceeding three years, "the discretion of the court to grant bail will not be exercised in favour of the defendant where any of the conditions in Section 162 of the ACJA 2015 is established."

Justice Ekwo maintained that considering the nature of the offence on the charge sheet and the fact that Mamu did not refute an allegation of breach of terms of bail, he was persuaded by the grounds given by the SSS for the court not to exercise discretion to grant bail as prayed by the defendant, hence, he refused and struck out the application.

Tajikistan’s Security Forces Kill Two Terrorists on its Border with Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] On Wednesday, the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan said that two members of an international terrorist cell were murdered while attempting to breach the state border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

"Two members of an international terrorist cell crossed the state border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan on Wednesday morning to conduct terrorist activities. The snuffies were eliminated in a joint anti-terror operation by the republic’s law enforcement agencies," local media reported.

The investigation is going on to identify the identity of the krazed killers, the statement said.

It also added that the incident happened in the autonomous province of Gorno-badakhsahn, Vanj District.

It also reported that the scene contained two Kalashnikov assault weapons, two handguns, eight hand grenades, 12 boxes of ammunition, 19 parcels carrying explosives, two communication devices, and two cell phones.

The operation ended without any causalities to the civilians of Tajikistan.

Earlier, the regional countries, including Central Asian states, in the fourth meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan’s neighbouring states, expressed their concerns about growing terrorist outlets.

The neighbouring states stressed security and economic cooperation among them and called on the de facto authorities to fight against terror groups in the country.

SSP Khosa said police and security forces promptly arrived at the location of the incident along with the bomb disposal squad which was assessing the scale of the blast.

He said that the martyred SHO’s body had been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Explosions, gunfire rock Lakki amid reports of more attacks
[Dawn] Multiple attacks, suspected to be terror incidents, were reported from across different parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday night, but there was no official word from military or security agencies regarding the incidents, or the number of casualties.

A powerful explosion, followed by several blasts and heavy gunfire, rocked Lakki Marwat city on Thursday night, official sources said. Sources said the blast took place near the Government Postgraduate College, which houses security forces and a military camp. Residents said that after the first explosion, several other blasts were also heard, followed by heavy gunfire, which partially damaged houses in the settled area.

People came out of their homes after the first blast shook the area, but subsequent explosions and gunfire drove them indoors.

Citing preliminary reports, sources said bully boyz had attacked a military compound late in the night. "It was a bomb and gun attack," they said, adding that troops retaliated and a fierce gunbattle continued for about an hour.

The management of the district headquarters hospital called doctors and paramedics to duty to cope with any possible emergency.

A hospital staffer said that doctors and paramedics were put on alert, but no victim had been brought to the facility thus far.

Muhammad Ashfaq Khan, Lakki Marwat’s district police officer, told Dawn that the exchange of fire stopped and no casualty had been reported until going to print.

"All installations of the army and police are safe," he said, adding that security had been beefed up across the district after the attack.

The attack came after three murderous Moslems, who had targeted a retired colonel in his guestroom, were killed on April 24 in a shootout with counterterrorism and coppers in the Paharakhel Thall village of Lakki Marwat.

A CTD inspector, Javed Iqbal, who was maimed in the exchange of fire later succumbed to wounds at a hospital in Bannu.

Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Don Calamari's lawyer was getting even redder in the face...
a number of other incidents were also reported in the early hours of Friday; two in the Janikhel area of Bannu district and one in the Mir Kalam area of Tank district. However,

neither police nor Inter-Services Public Relations offered any information until the time of going to print.

Iraq
Scores injured in a blast near a Nineveh market
[Shafaq News] A blast from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) left six persons injured in Nineveh, a source reported on Thursday.

The source told Shafaq News Agency that the earth-shattering kaboom took place near a livestock market in Nineveh's district of Tal Afar this afternoon.

The blast, according to preliminary investigations, was caused by an explosive war remnant left behind by members of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems...
(ISIS) murderous Moslem group that took over swathes of Iraq's area in 2014.

Iraq is littered with landmines from decades of armed conflict. Millions were planted by former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein (1979-2003) during the Iran-Iraq War back in the 1980s. Countless more were planted by ISIS over 2014-15.

According to a 2020 report by the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
Mine Action Service, war remnants contaminate almost three billion square meters, including more than 250 million square meters in the Kurdistan region alone. This makes Iraq the most mined country in the world.

Long after wars have ended, these conflict relics continue to wreak havoc on the lives of ordinary Iraqis. It has been estimated that mines have killed at least 10,000 Iraqis and injured 24,000 in the past two decades.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Army nabs unarmed Gazan man who snuck into Israel
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinians test-fire rocket from Strip toward sea; five terror suspects detained in overnight raids in West Bank

An unarmed Paleostinian was arrested by Israeli troops after crossing the border from the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip early Thursday morning, the military said.

The Israel Defense Forces said the suspect, who crossed the security barrier in the northern part of Gaza, was taken to the Shin Bet security agency for questioning.

The IDF said the suspect was spotted by soldiers monitoring surveillance cameras, and troops dispatched to the scene detained him close to the security barrier.

The IDF did not elaborate on how the suspect managed to cross the barrier.

Paleostinians in the Gaza Strip frequently attempt to illegally enter Israeli territory, often with hopes of fleeing the beleaguered enclave. Often they are caught before managing to cross Israel’s high-tech series of fences and walls guarding the frontier with Gaza, both above and below ground.

Also in the Gaza Strip on Thursday morning, holy warriors test-fired a rocket toward the Mediterranean Sea, according to Paleostinian media reports.

An image published by Paleostinian media outlets showed a trail and a small cloud of smoke in the sky, indicating the rocket went kaboom! in mid-air.

Paleostinian terror groups frequently test-fire rockets toward the sea, in order to improve range and accuracy.

Meanwhile in the West Bank before dawn, IDF troops detained five wanted Paleostinians.

The military said four terror suspects were arrested in Kharbatha Bani Harith and the nearby Kafr Ni’ma, and the fifth was detained in Kharbatha al-Misbah, all in the central West Bank.

There were no reports of festivities amid the raids.

Compare and contrast to the view from Israel:
IDF: Palestinian attempts ramming, stabbing near Ariel in West Bank, is shot dead

[IsraelTimes] No injuries among Israelis, Paleostinian bystander lightly hurt in incident at Gitai Avisar Junction

A Paleostinian man attempted to carry out a car-ramming and stabbing attack in the West Bank on Thursday afternoon and was subsequently rubbed out, the military and medics said.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the man drove onto the opposite lane on the Route 5 highway, and tried to ram his car into civilians and security forces at the Gitai Avisar Junction near the West Bank settlement of Ariel. The suspect then got out of his car while allegedly brandishing a knife, before being rubbed out by troops.

"The terrorist was holding a knife and IDF forces neutralized him," the military said in a statement, adding that the suspect attempted to stab a police officer.

The Rescuers Without Borders emergency service said the suspect died of his wounds. He was named by the Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry as 39-year-old Ahmed Taha.

The service added that one Paleostinian was lightly hurt after the suspect crashed his car into a Paleostinian-owned vehicle during the ramming attempt.

A graphic video circulating online showed a police officer standing next to the crashed vehicle, before the suspect got out suddenly. The officer was seen attempting to reach for his weapon, as two soldiers standing nearby opened fire.

The video showed one of the soldiers continuing to fire at the suspect after he was on the ground for several seconds.

No Israelis were hurt in the attack, the military and the emergency service said.
