Taliban Detain and Torture Several, Including Women and Children, in Nawur, Ghazni Province
[8am] Local sources in Ghazni province report that the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...

According to credible sources from the province on Wednesday, August 2, the Taliban have indiscriminately beaten and abused several individuals, including women and kiddies, in various areas of the Nawur district.

These sources state that Taliban fighters launched an unexpected attack on the village of Naw Qala-e Yakhshi in the Khwat area of Nawur district, where they beat several locals and took a man and two children, aged 11 and 13, with them.

The sources also claim that Taliban intelligence operatives attacked the Jungle Sukhta and Sarbukan areas of the district, employing violence against the people without any apparent reason.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shouting match, a new, even louder, voice was to be heard...
sources from Yakhshi and Mir Bacha villages in the Khwat region of the district have confirmed to the Hasht-e Subh Daily that the Taliban have subjected the residents of these regions to harassment and abuse in the past three days.

According to these affected individuals, they have made multiple attempts to approach local Taliban officials in the province to address the misconduct of their personnel, but their pleas have gone unheard.

It should be noted that prior to this, the Taliban had detained 17 residents of the Nawur district based on the orders of a nomadic (Kuchi) individual.

Midnight Raid: Pakistani Police Descend on Afghan Refugee Homes in Islamabad, Detentions Reported
[8am] Sources have reported that Pak police launched a house-to-house inspection operation aimed at detaining Afghan refugees in the F-17 area of Islamabad, the capital of the country.

According to sources speaking to Hasht-e Subh, on the night of Wednesday, August 2nd, around 12:00 AM, Pak police stormed the residences where Afghan refugees were residing and conducted a violent mostly peaceful operation, resulting in the arrest of dozens of them.

One eyewitness stated, "The Pak police forces aggressively entered the apartments where Afghan refugees were living during the late hours of the night and detained dozens of men without inquiring about their documentation."

The source added, "The police even searched inside people’s refrigerators. Children were asleep, and everyone was in shock."

Previous reports have also highlighted misconduct by security forces in Pakistain concerning the detention of Afghan refugees in the country.

Notably, a few days ago, Afghan Embassy officials in Islamabad, under the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
administration, had expressed concerns to Pak security authorities, stating that the detention of Afghan refugees in Pakistain has a negative impact on the relations between the two countries.

Govt acknowledges influx of Afghan nationals in Islamabad
The view from Pakistan:
[Dawn] The government on Wednesday acknowledged the influx of Afghan nationals in Islamabad and said there was a need to pay attention to the matter.

Replying to a question asked by PTI dissident MNA Wajhia Qamar, State Minister for Law Shahadat Awan admitted that there was an influx of Afghans in the capital.

Earlier, in a written reply to a question by MNA Shamsun Nisa that what steps were being taken by the government to control the rising crime rate in Islamabad, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah stated that the capital police had taken steps, including identification of crime pockets, crime cluster analysis, database (survey of slums) and intelligence-based policing.

Besides, combing/searching operations, random checking of guest houses, hotels and motels, survey of rented accommodations, illegal settlements and surveillance of suspected elements were being carried out. Action is also initiated against illegal Afghan residents besides data proofing of released prisoners and monitoring through safe city cameras.

Ratio of crime in capital has considerably decreased after establishment of Eagle Squad, minister claims in NA

Moreover, Eagle Squad has been established in Islamabad on the pattern of Dolphin Force of Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

to control crime. He claimed that the ratio of crime had considerably decreased after the establishment of Eagle Squad, adding gangs of robbers had been busted.

"Patrolling has been enhanced in the crime areas and the police are already performing duties for the protection of life and property of the citizens, especially during public events and gatherings with available recourse as per law."

When the MNA asked from where the minister had gotten the data, State Minister Shahadat Awan on behalf of the interior minister said it was a fact the crime rate had not declined at the level it should have been.

MNA Aliya Kamran of the JUI-F did not agree with the minister and the figures provided by him. There is an increase in the crime despite the Safe City project. The government claimed that the number of cameras had been increased however criminals cannot be identified and spotted through the recording of these cameras as their quality is poor, she added.

Theft incidents at houses are taking place frequently and culprits loot cycle of violences at gunpoint every day, she said, adding the minister should read newspapers of the last few months so he would get an idea of the crime situation in the city.

According to the crime figure provided to the house by the minister, there were 177 murders, 68 rape, 35 dacoity cases, 3,058 robberies, 2,524 thefts, 375 hurts, 673 vehicle thefts, 3,276 cycle of violence thefts reported to police.

The minister of state said the government sealed 36 brick kilns in the Islamabad capital territory (ICT) on violation of child labour laws besides registering cases against the violators.

Replying to various supplementary questions during the question hour, he said that although labour welfare including labour legislation was now a devolved subject after 18th constitutional amendments but currently various laws were enforced to stop child labour.

He said the laws which were enforced in ICT included the Factories Act 1934, Shops and Establishments Ordinance 1969, the Employment of Children Act 1991, Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act 1992 and Employment of Children Rules 1995.

Similarly, Punjab Prohibition of Child Labour at Brick Kilns Act 2016, the Punjab Restriction on Employment Children Act 2016, the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act 2018, the Sindh Prohibition of Employment of Children Act 2017, Sindh Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act 2015, Sindh Factories Act 2015, Sindh Commercial Establishment Act 2015, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Prohibition of Employment of Children Rules 2015 and Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
Employment of Children (Prohibition Regulation) Act 2021 were enforced in provinces, he said.

The minister said inspection teams at provincial level regularly conducted raids and not only registered cases but also imposed fine on violators of the laws.

Stressing the need to create awareness among the citizens about unlawful employment of minor children as domestic workers and their mistreatment by the employers, he said that the government would pay more attention to curb the menace effectively.

Responding to a calling attention notice raised by Aliya Kamran regarding unlawful employment of minor children as domestic workers, he said it was a grave issue and the government was cognizant of its responsibility.

The minister also urged parents to send their children to schools rather than forcing them to become domestic workers.

Mr Awan also said Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested 470 human smugglers and got convicted 364 of them during the last four years.

The minister said the FIA was taking action against those involved in human smuggling and had registered 889 cases under the Prevention of Smuggling of Moslem colonists Migrants Act 2018 since 2020. About 2016 Paks were identified travelling on fake/forged documents against whom 971 cases were registered and 104 smugglers/agents were arrested during the period, he said.

Since the talks with the Tehrik-e-Taliban

Pakistain (TTP) broke down in November, the Death Eater group has intensified its attacks, particularly targeting the police in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and areas bordering Afghanistan. Insurgents in Balochistan have also stepped up their violent mostly peaceful activities and formalised a nexus with the outlawed TTP.

Last month, nine army soldiers were martyred in an attack on a military installation in Balochistan’s Zhob Cantt.

According to Zhob District Commissioner (DC) Azeem Kakar, a civilian woman was also killed in the incident after being caught in the crossfire while five other civilians were left injured.

Around the same time, security forces had come under fire from holy warriors in Balochistan’s Sui during an operation in the area. During the fire exchange, three soldiers were martyred.

Four Syrians arrested in Damascus upon deportation from Iraq
[NPASyria] Rashid Ali Jan, director of the Erbil-based Jain Roj Charity Organization, said that the last three days witnessed the deportation of 13 refugees from the International Baghdad Airport to Syria. Upon arrival, four of them were by Syrian government security authorities in Damascus.

Dozens of Syrian refugees who have permanent residencies issued from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG) and documents from UNHCR in Erbil are detained in Baghdad prisons with the aim of deporting them to Syria.

On Tuesday, the head of the charity said that some families of Syrians who are detained in Baghdad have been in contact with him for assistance in reuniting with their relatives in Erbil.

The source also added that the remaining nine young men were permitted to leave from Damascus International Airport to Qamishli city, where they remain at present.

Jan also said that the families of the nine deportees who recently landed in Qamishli are still in Erbil waiting their sons to reach them.

Residency permits issued by the KRG are considered illegal by the Iraqi government and do not entitle their holders to enter Iraq. Only documents issued by the Iraqi government in Baghdad are recognized as valid to stay in Iraq.

When the war broke out in Syria in 2011, many families fled across the border to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
as living conditions in the KRI became increasingly difficult, they were forced to move to Baghdad illegally because they could not afford the fees for a legal residency in Iraq, which cost between $1200 and $1700.

The detainees were taken to an observation point against the village to later be sent back to Syria through Bab al-Hawa border crossing, which is under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
(HTS) from the Syrian side.

According to informed sources, Ottoman Turkish authorities have handed over more than 1,300 Syrians who attempted to cross the border in the first seven months of 2023.

Five wounded in Turkish shelling in northern Hasakah

[NPASyria] On Thursday, five people were injured in Turkish shelling of Aboush village in the northern countryside of Hasakah, northeast Syria.

A medical source in Lekrin Hospital in Tel Tamr town, in northern Hasakah, informed North Press that the shelling caused five minor injuries, adding they are being treated in the hospital.

Earlier today, Turkey targeted Sheikh Ali village but there have been no reports of casualties and damage so far.

Tel Tamr, which has a population of about 25,000 and is 30 km away from the Syrian-Turkish border, is of strategic importance as it is a junction on the M4 Highway linking Hasakah to Aleppo governorate in the northwest.

The town and its countryside have been under constant attacks by Turkish forces and their affiliated Syrian opposition factions for more than two years.

Turkish forces target Syria’s Tel Tamr with mortar shells

[NPASyria] Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army (SNA), targeted on Thursday the village of Sheikh Ali, in the town of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria.

A local source told North Press that the Turkish forces and the SNA factions targeted the aforementioned village with two mortar shells.

No casualties or material damage were recorded.

Tel Tamr, which has a population of about 25,000 and is 30 km away from the Syrian-Turkish border, is of strategic importance as it is a junction on the M4 Highway linking Hasakah to Aleppo governorate in the northwest.

The town has been under constant attacks by Turkish forces and the SNA for more than two years.

Parts of the northern and western countryside of the town and the entire southern countryside are protected by the Syriac Military Council and the Assyrian Khabour Guards Forces, while the SNA controls the northern countryside up to the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) on the northern border of Syria.

On July 31, three people were injured in a Turkish shelling on the village of Tel al-Laban, southwest Tel Tamr.

Turkey deports 31 Syrian asylum seekers

[NPASyria] Turkish authorities deported on Thursday 31 Syrian asylum seekers via Tel Abyad border crossing with Turkey, north of Raqqa Governorate, northern Syria, after being detained by Turkish border guards for a few days.

The deported Syrians were arrested by the border guards while they were trying to cross into Turkey from the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), north of Hasakah, northeast Syria.

A private source told North Press that the administration of Tel Abyad crossing received the deported people, some of them are women and children, and handed them to Military Police, affiliated with Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army (SNA).

On August 1, the Turkish authorities detained eight people on the border, west of the city of Tel Abyad, while they were trying to cross into Turkey. However, those eight people were not among those who were deported, according to the source.

As of the first half of 2023, the number of affected Syrian asylum seekers has reached 452 individuals, including 20 children and 26 women. Tragically, 25 people were killed and 121 others were injured during direct targeting by live bullets while attempting to cross the Syrian-Turkish border. In addition, the Turkish border guards have assaulted and beaten 306 individuals and have used excessive force to prevent them from crossing the border.

A day earlier, the Turkish authorities forcibly deported 45 Syrian refugees via Bab al-Hawa border crossing, north of Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria, a private source told North Press.

The administrations of Tel Abyad and Bab al-Hawa crossings announced the toll of Syrians who were forcibly deported from Turkey in July. 1,207 Syrian refugees were deported via Bab al-Hawa crossing, and 1,838 others via Tel Abyad crossing.

Since the beginning of July, the Turkish authorities have deported more than 2,500 Syrian refugees, mostly women and children, to the opposition-held areas in northern Syria through the Baba al-Hawa, Tel Abyad, and Bab al-Salama border crossings.

Though Syria is still unsafe for returns, Turkey tries to get rid of the refugees by forcibly deporting them, as the Turkish authorities have intensified the forced deportation of Syrians, as part of what they call voluntary return to safe areas in Syria, according to media and documentary reports.

Idlib: HTS arrests 6 of its own members for ‘espionage’, unknown shooters kill HTS checkpoint guards
[NPASyria] Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
(HTS) unleashed relentless raids in Sarmada and Atme, northern Idlib in northwestern Syria, against its members to root out those it accuses of espionage.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told North Press that HTS arrested four security members in the Western neighborhood and slums in Sarmada and two others in Atme on charges of espionage for the US-led Coalition.

This operation of the HTS targeted 17 members in the aforementioned areas, of them six were captured while others managed to escape, the source added.

On June 18, HTS launched a campaign to pursue members it accuses of collaborating with the Coalition. To date, more than 385 members have been arrested, including high-ranking officials and leaders close to Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, the overall leader of HTS.

Three HTS members injured in armed attack in western Idlib

[NPASyria] On Thursday, unidentified gunmen attacked a checkpoint of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in western Idlib, wounding three HTS members.

A local source told North Press, “Two perpetrators riding a motorcycle used light machine guns to attack the al-Quniyah checkpoint in Jisr al-Shughur, west of Idlib.

Furthermore, the source added that the perpetrators fled the scene after injuring three members who were present at the checkpoint.

The source indicated that this attack is the third one this month against HTS without having any details about the assailants.

Government forces escalate shelling of NW Syria de-escalation zone
[NPASyria] Syrian government forces continued on Wednesday military escalation on the countryside of Hama, Aleppo, and Idlib, northwest Syria, amid displacement waves from several villages in the countryside of Idlib.

A military source of the Syrian opposition told North Press that the government forces targeted the villages of al-Mozarah, Fatterah, Kansafra, and Maarbalit in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib.

More than 12 houses, most of them in al-Mozarah, were damaged, according to the source.

The shelling also targeted the villages and towns of Qahera, al-Enkawi, Hmemat, Duwayr al-Akrad, and al-Sirmaniyah in Ghab Plain, west of Hama Governorate, and al-Qasr, al-Wasata, and Kafr Amma, in the western countryside of Aleppo.

No casualties were recorded.

Amid this military escalation, local sources told North Press that the villages of Mantaf, Maarbalit, and Marzaf, east of Zawiya Mountain, have witnessed large displacement waves.

More than 50 families have left their houses a year after coming back to them, as they were previously displaced. Most of the families headed to IDP camps on the Syrian-Ottoman Turkish border, north of Idlib, the sources added.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Ottoman Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.

In March 2020, Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
reached an agreement in Moscow that stipulated a ceasefire, the establishment of a safe corridor, and the conduct of joint patrols on the M4/Aleppo-Latakia Highway.

Lebanon warns Palestinian president that troops may intervene if clashes continue in refugee camp
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas can’t even control the West Bank. What could he possibly do to get the idiots to behave in another country?
[NY Post] Lebanon’s caretaker prime minister called the Palestinian president Thursday to demand an end to the volatile situation in the country’s largest Palestinian refugee camp, warning that Lebanese troops may intervene to stop the fighting that has left dozens dead and wounded.

Najib Mikati’s call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas came after days of sporadic clashes between Palestinian factions in the Ein el-Hilweh refugee camp near the southern port city of Sidon.

Mikati called the fighting a "flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty" and said it was unacceptable for the warring Palestinian groups to "terrorize the Lebanese, especially the people of the south who have embraced the Palestinians for many years," according to a statement released by his office.

His call came as cautious calm returned to the camp and surrounding area Thursday after a night of renewed clashes.

Lebanon’s largest Palestinian refugee camp, which is home to about 50,000 people, has been rocked since Sunday by fierce battles between Abbas’ Fatah party and Islamist groups Jund al-Sham and Shabab al-Muslim.

#1  Jund al-Sham was founded by Al Qaeda in the 1990s. Wiki notes: In March 2014, over 300 Jund fighters, probably with their families together numbering 1,000 people, were holed up in Crusader castle Krak des Chevaliers, near Homs. Syrian government troops seized the castle, killing at least ten of the Jund al-Sham, including their leader Khaled Mahmoud al-Dandashi.300 surviving Jund al-Sham fighters, with their families together numbering 1,000 people, then retreated to Lebanon. Not much has been heard of them since.

Terror Networks
ISIS leader confirmed dead - 4th Number 1 toes up, 5th Number 1 tees up
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The group "Islamic State” confirmed the death of its leader Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Kurashi. This was announced on August 3 by a representative of the group, whose words are quoted by AFP.
Let’s see if the new guy lasts long enough to find the key to the executive washroom.
The representative of the terrorist organization claims that the leader of the group was killed during clashes with the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group * (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) in the Syrian province of Idlib.

When exactly it was liquidated is not reported. Abu Hafsan al-Hashimi al-Kurashi has been announced as the new leader of the group.

As IA Regnum reported , on April 30, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkish national intelligence had carried out an operation in Syria to eliminate the leader of the Islamic State terrorist group (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation).

It was reported that the villa where al-Qureishi was located is located in the village of Miske, near the city of Jandaris in the Syrian province of Afrin. Al-Qureishi arrived in this two-story "luxury building" from Idlib, from where he controlled the group. According to the channel, he did not use mobile communications, and transmitted orders through couriers.

Turkish intelligence found the leader of IS in Syria a few months ago and tracked his movements, eventually obtaining reliable data on the whereabouts of the terrorist. The house was closely monitored, including from drones.

The detention of al-Qureishi was carried out on the evening of April 29, however, in response to the call to surrender, his guards opened fire on the participants in the special operation from both small arms and heavy weapons. A fight ensued that lasted about four hours.
The Times of Israel spells the name of the dead big turban as Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurashi (the 4th Number 1), and the new guy (the 5th Number 1) as Abi Hafsan al-Hashimi al-Qurashi
Rudaw spells the new guy’s name as Abu Hafs al-Hashimi al-Qurashi, suggesting that Abi is a misspelling.
Shafaq News gives us another transliterated spelling, adding:
In a recorded audio message attributed to the spokesperson, disseminated on a Telegram channel affiliated with the organization on Thursday evening, al-Ansari revealed that al-Qurashi was killed in clashes with Turkish-backed factions in the Idlib countryside.

Additionally, he stated that Ankara-backed factions had apprehended the former ISIS spokesperson, Abu Omar al-Muhajir, along with several others from the organization.

Last April, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had announced the supposed death of the "presumed leader" of ISIS in Syria during an operation conducted by Turkish intelligence.

During a televised interview at the time, Erdogan stated, "I would like to share new information during this meeting... There has been a development in our fierce battle against terrorist organizations... Turkish intelligence has been tracking for a long time an individual known as the leader of ISIS, Abu al-Husayn al-Qurashi... This is the first time we are announcing this news... the news of the elimination of this individual during an operation conducted by Turkish intelligence in Syria... and we will continue our work in combating terrorist organizations without exception."
