Afghanistan
Blast in Kabul leaves two dead: Police
[KhaamaPress] At least two people were killed, and two more were maimed in a kaboom in the Darul Aman area west of Kabul, the city’s police said on Monday.

According to the police, a magnetic bomb embedded in a three-wheeler went off on a roadside in the Darul Aman area of Kabul’s police district 6.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy was furiously chewing her cud and thinking...
the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
has yet to disclose the identities of the attack victims.

According to Kabul police spokesperson Khalid Zadran, the earth-shattering kaboom occurred near the building of the Ministry of Justice, Rooters reported.

Recently, there has been a notable surge in attacks within Kabul City, focusing on both Taliban officials and ordinary citizens. These incidents have raised concerns about the city’s security situation.

It is worth noting that similar attacks in the past have been attributed to bandidos forces of Evil affiliated with ISIS, further adding to the complexity of the security landscape in the country.

Earlier, a significant attack occurred in Kabul, resulting in the deaths of five Taliban security personnel. However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
the Taliban leadership swiftly denied involvement, asserting their commitment to maintaining the country’s security.

They claimed their vigilant efforts in safeguarding the nation and expressed confidence that no individual or group possessed the capability to undermine the overall security within the country.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges and complexities surrounding security in the region.

It is important to remain cautious of the varying narratives surrounding such incidents, as different sources may provide conflicting information about the nature and perpetrators of attacks.

Daily Evacuation Brief August 21-22, 2023

Daily Evacuation Brief | August 22, 2023

[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • BLAST REPORTED IN KABUL – An explosion occurred in Police District 6 of Kabul (Darul Aman) yesterday afternoon. Initial reports indicate that a motorcycle bomb detonated prematurely and it is thought the intended target was a Taliban checkpoint. There are discrepancies concerning the number and types of casualties that resulted from the attack. Most reports agree that 2 people were killed and several were injured. No group has claimed credit for the attack.

  • 8 FEMALE ACTIVISTS WHO WERE DETAINED DURING A PROTEST IN KABUL HAVE BEEN RELEASED – A spokeswoman for the Afghan Women’s Unity and Solidarity Movement announced that the women had been freed after being held for several hours by Taliban security forces. Initial reports indicate that none were harmed but it is not clear if the women were threatened or coerced in any way.

  • TURKISH COURT SENTENCES 2 SOLDIERS TO NEARLY 70 YEARS IN PRISON FOR RAPING AFGHAN REFUGEE – The incident took place in January of this year when the 2 Turkish soldiers were escorting a group of 9 Afghan refugees to the border in the Saray District of Van Province where they would be deported. The soldiers separated the unidentified Afghan woman from the group and reputedly raped her. Turkish military authorities arrested the soldiers three days after the incident and the verdict was delivered yesterday after several months of investigation and a long trial.

  • TALIBAN MAYOR FROM BAGHLAN WHO WAS ACCUSED OF RAPE AND ARRESTED, RELEASED – A Taliban Mayor (Mullah Nemat Fateh) who was reportedly arrested over charges of raping a woman four weeks ago was released from prison and returned to his office in the Barka District yesterday. A source in Kandahar said that senior officials in Kabul said that a trial would be detrimental to the reputation of the IEA and that an Imam had spoken with the accused prior to his release. It is not clear if the victim and her family were approached by Taliban officials over the matter. The source went on to say that an unnamed senior Taliban leader said that ‘It wouldn’t matter’ as the family would probably kill Fateh in the coming months.
  • Well, there's that
  • TAJIKISTAN REMOVES RUSSIAN/SOVIET PLACENAMES, REPLACES WITH TAJIK NAMES – Following in the footsteps of other Central Asian countries, Dushanbe is rewriting its maps and replacing names for geographic locations and cities/towns with Tajik names. The undertaking is important because Tajikistan often demarcates its borders by referencing them in relation to mountains and other geographic features.

CONFLICT TRACKER
  • Kabul: A motorcycle bomb was detonated in the Darul Aman neighborhood of Kabul. Eyewitnesses say that 2 people were killed and an unknown number were injured in the blast. The incident took place in the afternoon, and it is thought that a Taliban security checkpoint was the intended target but the device detonated prematurely.

  • Kapisa: An NRF strike team reportedly attacked a Taliban security position near the Sayad Bridge in the province. 4 Taliban were reportedly killed and 2 others were wounded in the attack.

  • Uruzgan: Forces Of The Unknown Soldier (FOUS) fighters claim to have targeted and killed 2 Taliban security personnel in an operation that took place in the Chora district yesterday evening.

NEXT 24 HOURS: No Threats Reported

Daily Evacuation Brief | August 22, 2023

LAST 24 HOURS
  • 11 WORKERS KILLED IN PAKISTAN WHEN IED DETONATED UNDER VEHICLE TRANSPORTING THEM TO WORK – The workers had been employed on a project at an Army base in Waziristan, near the Afghan border. The IED detonated as the transport was passing over it and immediately killed 11 while wounding others. No group has yet claimed credit for the attack but a source in Punjab said it was almost certainly a TTP operation that was implemented from across the border. A drone had been reported in the area an hour prior to the attack so it is possible that some evidence may be available to Pakistani authorities. The source went on to say that Pakistan’s intelligence services were monitoring multiple threats after an air strike in Khost that killed a senior TTP leader.

  • SUNNI CLERIC IN IRAN ASKS FOR RETURN OF LAND ALONG AFGHAN BORDER IN BALOCHISTAN – Mawlawi Mohammad Hossein Gergich appealed to the Taliban to return roughly 2000 hectares of land that was surrendered during a partition of the border several years ago. According to the cleric, the land was surrendered inadvertently after Iranian military forces built a border wall that divided the traditionally Baloch-held land, and Afghanistan ‘absorbed’ the farmland. The cleric said that if the Taliban would not make good on water rights to the Province, the least they could do was to return the disputed land. There were multiple claims that the Army failed to take into account the local population’s claims when the border wall was constructed and the cleric hinted at corruption being involved in the speedy implementation of the project. It is not clear if the Taliban intend to take the request seriously.

  • ACTIVIST MALALA YOUSAFZAI ADDS HER VOICE TO CHORUS DEMANDING FIFA RECOGNIZE THE AFGHANISTAN WOMEN’S FOOTBALL TEAM – The Nobel laureate visited the women’s team in Melbourne, Australia this past week to discuss the campaign she was working on to gain recognition for the team. For its part, FIFA put out a statement claiming it could not recognize the team outright and that it must first be recognized by the Member Association. FIFA had reached out to Afghanistan’s Football Federation but was told that the group could neither oppose nor support the women’s team and that returning to Afghanistan would violate restrictions on women’s sports put in place by the de facto regime. Supporters of the campaign say the response by FIFA has been a dodge and are urging the organization to amend its rules in this case.

  • TALIBAN SECURITY FORCES DISRUPT WOMEN’S PROTEST IN KABUL – Late reporting indicates that Taliban personnel intervened when women attempted to demonstrate in an undisclosed location in Kabul. The Taliban dispersed the protestors and reputedly arrested 8 unidentified females from the group. This information has yet to be verified.

CONFLICT TRACKER:
Kapisa: NRF forces reportedly launched an early morning rocket attack against a Taliban emplacement in Hesse Kohistan. NRF sources said that 3 Taliban were killed and 2 others were wounded in the brief exchange.

NEXT 24 HOURS: No Threats Reported

UNISFA says helicopter targeted in South Kordofan State
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
Interim Security Force in Abyei (UNISFA) has expressed serious concerns over a recent attack that targeted its helicopter in the South Kordofan capital, Kadugli.

The incident, UNISFA said in a statement, occurred on August 10.

"The mission urgently calls on all parties to the conflict to exercise restraint and safeguard the safety of civilians and peacekeepers operating under the Joint Border Verification and Monitoring Mechanism (JBVMM)," it reads in part.

The mission said it is deeply concerned about the firing and shelling with heavy weapon systems in Kadugli and surrounding areas, "resulting in valuable loss of lives and the gradual displacement of hundreds of civilians from their homes".

It appealed to all the parties to the conflict to refrain from targeting civilians.

"We urge the warring factions to not target our peacekeepers as the JBVMM [Joint Border Verification Monitoring Mechanism] continues to carry out its mandated tasks in and around Kadugli and in our team sites in the fulfilment of the mandates set forth in the United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR) establishing JBVMM," the statement stressed.

Sudanese army thwarts major RSF attack in Khartoum
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The Sudanese army successfully repelled a significant assault by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the armoured corps headquarters within the al-Shajara military area, resulting in substantial casualties and equipment damage.

Starting early on Sunday morning, intense confrontations unfolded between the warring factions in the military zone and the armoured corps located south of the capital, Khartoum. The exchange of artillery fire between the army and RSF generated loud explosions echoing in Sports City, al-Sahafa, and al-Ushra.

The army spokesperson issued a statement on Sunday night affirming, "Our forces stationed in the al-Shajara military area thwarted numerous futile attack attempts by the rebel militia on the armoured corps and the ammunition complex."

He elaborated that the army inflicted significant losses on the attacking RSF forces, resulting in hundreds of fatalities and injuries. Moreover, the confrontation led to the destruction of five armoured vehicles, a T55 tank, and a notable number of combat vehicles.

According to the statement, the army also managed to seize three tanks and a selection of armed vehicles during the battle.

The spokesperson noted that the RSF had engaged a substantial number of minors and young individuals during the attack, a violation of international humanitarian law, he further underscored.

Upon their retreat, RSF troops launched mortar fire toward the nearby al-Salama area, resulting in the deaths of six civilians and several injuries, as stated by the military release.

Africa North
Hundreds of trucks with food and essentials reach Niamey
[AFRICANEWS] Around 300 trucks of food and other materials crossed into Niger from Burkina Faso with many arriving in the capital, Niamey Sunday, according to a regional customs official.

The convoy of trucks departed from Burkina Faso, the last open border with Niger since the West African regional bloc imposed sanctions after mutinous soldiers overthrew the country's president last month.

But the route between Burkina Faso and Niger is lined with jihadi groups, making it dangerous to drive and requiring military escorts from both armies.

Niger’s coup was seen by the international community and ECOWAS as one too many and in addition to threatening a military invasion, the bloc has imposed severe economic and travel sanctions.

In the first six months of 2023, attacks on civilians were 49% lower than in the first six months of 2022, and the number of deaths 16% lower, according to the NGO Acled, which records the victims of conflicts around the world.

Western observers and partners, notably France, a privileged ally of the ousted regime which still has 1,500 troops in Niger, have highlighted these encouraging results.

This improvement is partly attributed to the strategy implemented by Mr Bazoum, the only one of its kind in the Sahel, to combat jihadist groups.

Arabia
HRW accuses Saudi border guards of killing hundreds of Ethiopian migrants
[AFRICANEWS] Saudi border guards fired "like rain" on Æthiopian migrants colonists trying to cross into the Gulf kingdom from Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, killing hundreds since last year, Human Rights Watch said in a report Monday.

The allegations, described as "unfounded" by a Saudi government source, point to a significant escalation of abuses along the perilous route from the Horn of Africa to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, where hundreds of thousands of Æthiopians live and work.

One 20-year-old woman from Æthiopia's Oromia region, interviewed by HRW, said Saudi border guards opened fire on a group of migrants colonists they had just released from custody.

"They fired on us like rain. When I remember, I cry," she said.

"I saw a guy calling for help, he lost both his legs. He was screaming; he was saying, 'Are you leaving me here? Please don't leave me'. We couldn't help him because we were running for our lives."

HRW researcher Nadia Hardman said "Saudi officials are killing hundreds of migrants colonists and asylum seekers in this remote border area out of view of the rest of the world," according to a statement.

"Spending billions buying up professional golf, football clubs, and major entertainment events to improve the Saudi image should not deflect attention from these horrendous crimes," she said.

A Saudi government source told AFP that the allegations were unreliable.

"The allegations included in the Human Rights Watch report about Saudi border guards shooting Æthiopians while they were crossing the Saudi-Yemeni border are unfounded and not based on reliable sources," said the source, who requested anonymity.

Europe
Italy detains migrant rescue ship ‘over port dispute’
[Dawn] Italian authorities have detained a migrant rescue ship for 20 days after it disobeyed an order about where to disembark its passengers, the charity which operates the vessel said on Monday.

The 14-metre ex-lifeboat Aurora picked up 72 people in distress in the central Mediterranean on Friday, and was told by Italian authorities to take them to the Sicilian port of Trapani, said German non-governmental organization Sea-Watch.

But the crew warned the port was "unreachable" as they were low on fuel and running out of water in high temperatures.

They asked instead to go to the Italian island of Lampedusa, which they said was "four times closer", but were refused — and even told to go to Tunisia, Sea-Watch said.

In the end, "due to the extreme situation on board" in which one person was found unconscious, the Aurora was allowed to dock at Lampedusa on Saturday afternoon, it said.

"The ship, however, is now detained for 20 days based on the Italian government decree on sea rescue, and Sea-Watch will be fined between 2,500 and 10,000 euros ($2,725 and $10,900)," the charity said in a statement.

The decree was passed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s right-wing government, which took office in October vowing to curb the number of migrants colonists arriving on Italia’s shores.

The decree limits charity ships to one sea rescue at a time and requires them to disembark their passengers at a specific port — often on the other side of Italia.

Located just around 145 kilometres off the coast of Tunisia, tiny Lampedusa is the landing point for many migrants colonists crossing on small boats from North Africa into Europe.

Ministers say they are trying to share the responsibility for dealing with migrants colonists more equitably across Italia’s regions.

Sea-Watch demanded the Aurora be immediately released, saying it were tossed into the calaboose "on fabricated grounds".

"We simply had no other option than to sail to Lampedusa," said head of mission, Rebecca Berker, accusing the authorities of having "willingly endangered" the lives on those on board by insisting on an alternative port.

More than 105,000 migrants colonists have landed on Italia’s shores so far this year, the interior ministry says — up from fewer than 51,000 in the same period last year.

Charity rescue ships pick up only a small percentage — and many of those making the journey do not survive.

Almost 2,000 people have died attempting the central Mediterranean crossing in the last seven months, the UN migration agency says.

India-Pakistan
Search operation underway at encounter site in Pulwama

An encounter between security forces and hard boyz that broke out on Sunday evening in the Larrow-Parigam area of Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
's Pulwama district is still underway, police said on Monday.

Early morning visuals from the spot today show vehicles of the security forces deployed at the scene.

Kashmir Zone Police further said that police and security forces are on duty.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
there were no reports of any casualty on either side.

Earlier yesterday, the Kashmir Zone police said on 'X' (formerly Twitter), "An encounter has started in the Larrow- Parigam area of Pulwama.

Two infiltrators killed along LoC in J&K's Poonch: Army

Army on Monday said that an infiltration bid was foiled along the Line of Control in Balakote Sector of Poonch district by killing two infiltrators.

A defence spokesperson based in Jammu also said that one AK-47, two magazines and as many hand grenades were recovered.

"Intelligence Inputs received from multiple Intelligence agencies and police revealed the presence of (militants) waiting to cross the Line of Control from opposite own Balakote Sector," he said, adding, Based on these inputs, he said, surveillance grid was placed on heightened alert and multiple ambushes were sited at suitable location.

In the morning of August 21, he said, two krazed killer were detected by alert troops to be making attempts to cross the line of control onto own side, making use of inclement weather, dense fog , thick foliage and undulating ground in Hamirpur area of Balakote sector.

"As the (militants) approached own ambush sites, they were challenged and then engaged with effective fire. This forced (them) to flee from the ambush site by making use of weather and ground conditions," he said, adding, "However effective fire resulted in one (militant) falling down on the ground near the LC".

Additional troops were then moved into the area and search operations commenced in the afternoon after improvement of weather conditions and visibility, he said.

"The search of the area led to the recovery of an AK 47 rifle with two magazines, 30 rounds, two grenades and Pak origin medicines," he said in a statement to GNS, adding, "During search blood trails leading towards LC were also detected. As per intelligence Inputs the two (militants) who attempted to infiltrate were maimed due to fire from own troops, but still managed to return across the LC and later they gave up the ghost." India violating LOC ceasefire again
[Dawn] The Indian army violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) Monday for the second time in as many months. According to the ISPR, Indian troops martyred a villager in Azad Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain.
(AJK) while he was working in his field.

The ISPR had said the attack was "blatant Indian aggression" and in clear violation of the existing ceasefire understandings.

"Pakistain desires peace and tranquillity at its borders, however, all necessary measures will be taken to protect the life and property of our citizens," the military’s media wing added.

"Any misadventure against the people of Pakistain will be befittingly responded at the time and place of our choosing."

The latest ceasefire violation by the Indian army was condemned in the strongest terms by politicians in Azad Kashmir.

Iraq
Iraqi forces detain nine terrorists in coordinated operation
[Shafaq News] In a joint operation on Monday, Iraqi security authorities apprehended nine individuals suspected of ties to terrorist organizations, with one of the detainees being captured in collaboration with authorities in the Kurdistan Region.

The Counter-Terrorism Service disclosed that their operatives, in conjunction with the Counter-Terrorism Directorate in Sulaymaniyah, successfully apprehended a person who had been sought after.

Two others were apprehended within Baghdad, while another was captured within the "Al-Jada'a" camp in the Nineveh Governorate.

The Ministry of the Interior's Intelligence Agency reported that acting on intelligence inputs, they detained five individuals suspected of affiliating with terrorist entities.

The agency's spokesperson indicated, "Examination of the suspects' records uncovered evidence linking them to the Nineveh Province. They were found to operate within various divisions, namely al-Bilawi, al-Furqan, Khalid bin al-Waleed, al-Naftia, and Diwan al-Jand."

Further investigation revealed that the detainees acknowledged their involvement with these terrorist groups and received financial support.
Rudaw adds that the five in Nineveh are suspected of belonging to ISIS.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Iranian-funded wave of terror in the West Bank is 'just the beginning'
[Jpost] Palestinian terror group Hamas appears emboldened by internal divisions within Israel, defense sources told Army Radio on Tuesday.

Israel expects recent terror attacks across the West Bank to be "just the beginning" as Palestinian terror group Hamas appears emboldened by internal divisions within Israel, security establishment sources assessed on Tuesday morning, according to Army Radio.

The defense sources also linked tensions in Israel's northern border with Lebanon and Hezbollah to recent attacks, the latest of which claimed the life of an Israeli mother near Hebron on Monday.

The link, as per the sources, is the Iranian funding of terror activities by Hezbollah, as well as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

TWO TERROR SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Ben Hanan also praised Israeli security forces, who overnight on Tuesday arrested two Palestinians who admitted to carrying out the Hebron attack, as per the IDF.

"Another accomplishment, one that shows true determination and a very high level of professionalism and expertise. Caught in under 24 hours, confessed to the attack during the investigation, all of that while we were sleeping," the former Shin Bet officials told 103FM. "This is an extraordinairy achivement."

At scene of deadly West Bank attack, Netanyahu and Gallant blame Iran for terror spike
[israelTimes] IDF West Bank commander: We are in the midst of a major wave of attacks; seemingly unarmed man shot by troops in Beita; Paleostinians also riot on Gazoo

Speaking from the scene of a deadly shooting attack near the southern West Bank city of Hebron Monday evening, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said the ongoing terror wave was being directed by Iran.

"We are in the midst of a terrorist onslaught that is being encouraged, directed, and financed by Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and its proxies," Netanyahu said.

"The most significant change on the ground is related to Iranian financing and intent," Gallant added.

"Iran is looking for any way to harm the citizens of Israel. We will take various actions that will restore security to the citizens of Israel," Gallant said, adding that "all options are on the table."

Speaking earlier, the head of the military’s Central Command, Maj. Gen. Yehuda Fox, said that Israel was in the middle of a major terror wave, following the day’s deadly shooting and in the wake of another deadly attack over the weekend.

Paleostinian shooting, stabbing, and car-ramming attacks in Israel and the West Bank have left 29 people dead and several others seriously maimed since the beginning of the year. Also this year, rocket fire from the Gaza Strip killed two people during a round of hostilities in May, and an attack by an Egyptian policeman on the border in June left three soldiers dead.

Last year, 27 Israeli civilians and foreigners were killed in terror attacks committed by Paleostinian or Arab Israeli Lions of Islam in Israel or the West Bank. Another three soldiers were killed in attacks directed against troops, and one police commando was killed during festivities with Paleostinian button men in a West Bank operation.

"We are trying to get ahead of the enemy and thwart [their plans]. Most of the time we succeed. Today, and this week, we didn’t," Fox said, referring to Monday’s deadly attack near Hebron and the killing of an Israeli father and son in Huwara on Saturday.

"We will chase down our enemies in Huwara and Hebron and in any other place," he said. "We will learn from the incidents, investigate, and draw lessons," he added.

Responding to a question by The Times of Israel regarding fears that the ongoing terror wave, which has mostly centered on the northern West Bank, is spreading to its south, Fox said that the military had foiled numerous attacks in the Hebron area already.

"It is true that most of the overt terror in the recent period has been in the Samaria area," Fox said, referring to the northern West Bank by its biblical name. "But here too, we have foiled dozens of attacks, if not more, including terror cells in the Judea region [in the southern West Bank]."

"I very much hope we can improve the situation in northern Samaria too, and in Judea, and foil terror before it is carried out," he added.

Meanwhile,
...back at the secret hideout, Scarface Al sneeringly put his proposition to little Nell...
in response to the two recent deadly terror attacks, right-wing settler activists launched a new social media campaign calling on the government to fire Fox. Activists hold Fox responsible for the recent wave of terror attacks, accusing him of not cracking down on Paleostinians. The criticism has also been echoed in recent days by several right-wing politicians in the coalition.

Responding to the campaign and criticism by politicians, Fox told news hounds that he was not taking it personally. "Nothing is personal. I’ve been wearing a uniform for the last 35 years, and with me are tens of thousands of others in the IDF and security forces, working to defend the citizens of Israel," he said.u

Oded Revivi, mayor of Efrat, one of the largest Israeli settlements in the West Bank, came to Fox’s defense and said these calls were harmful. "Maj. Gen. Fox, along with thousands of regular and reserve soldiers — has led arrest operations every day and every night for the past two years. Hundreds of bad boyz were potted and seriously maimed, and the area is flooded with dozens of reserve battalions. The general and his commanders are in the field and there is no one who can dispute the endless efforts of the IDF — from the chief of staff to the last private — to try and maintain our security in Judea and Samaria and the security of all the citizens of Israel," he said, according to news and entertainment site Srugim.

Earlier Monday, 42-year-old Batsheva Nigri was rubbed out, and 40-year-old Aryeh Leib was seriously hurt after Paleostinian button men shot up their vehicle near Hebron. Nigri’s 12-year-old daughter was in the car during the attack, but was unharmed, MDA said. The Nigris had been hitching a ride with Leib, who had also been heading to the Jerusalem area from the southern West Bank.

The vehicle was hit by at least 22 rounds, with another three bullet impacts found nearby, according to the military’s initial investigation.

The IDF said it had launched a manhunt for the Lions of Islam and closed off a number of roads in the area. The military encircled Hebron and was questioning Paleostinians entering and leaving the city.

The IDF was given a description of the suspected vehicle used by the button men to carry out the terror attack. The vehicle had no license plates and was believed to have fled toward the Hebron area. Security forces later found a burnt-out vehicle near the Paleostinian town of Halhul that apparently matched the description of the terrorists’ car.

The attack near Hebron came two days after a Paleostinian terrorist killed two Israeli men, a father and son, while they were doing errands in the northern West Bank town of Huwara. Shay Silas Nigreker, 60, and his 28-year-old son Aviad Nir were shot to death at a carwash on Saturday afternoon.

The IDF said Monday it was bolstering forces in the West Bank with an additional infantry battalion and two companies, following the two recent deadly terror attacks. The military said the additional forces would assist in the manhunts for the Lions of Islam who carried out the attack near Hebron on Monday and the shooting in Huwara on Saturday.

Typically, the IDF’s West Bank division has 13 battalions. Over the past 18 months, that number has fluctuated, given the increase in Paleostinian terror attacks, reaching a high of 26 battalions in October 2022. Following Monday’s deployment, there will be 23 battalions in the West Bank.

Meanwhile,
...back at the secret hideout, Scarface Al sneeringly put his proposition to little Nell...
on Monday, a Paleostinian man was critically maimed after being shot by a member of Yamas — the Border Police’s elite undercover counterterrorism unit — in the West Bank town of Beita, close to Huwara.

In a graphic video circulated by Paleostinian media outlets, a seemingly unarmed man was seen being shot while walking away from the Israeli forces. Paleostinian media reports claimed that the man, named as Ameed al-Jaghoub, had died of his wounds, but the Paleostinian Authority health ministry said his condition was critical.

A Border Police front man told The Times of Israel that while officers had operated in Beita to detain a wanted Paleostinian man, a "violent mostly peaceful riot developed." During the riot, which "greatly endangered the lives of the troops," Paleostinians hurled cinderblocks and stones at the Yamas officers, the front man said.

The front man said officers used various riot dispersal means against the Paleostinians, and resorted to using live fire, including with "Ruger" sniper rifles, as the riots increased.

The .22-caliber round from a Ruger rifle is considered less lethal than the larger caliber rounds typically used by the military. Human rights groups have condemned the use of the rifle for riot control, however, as it can still kill. Troops typically fire the Ruger rifle at the lower body of rioters, rather than at the head, which can be deadly.

"The circumstances of the incident are under investigation," the front man said regarding the video.

Violence has surged across the West Bank over the past year and a half, with a rise in Paleostinian shooting attacks against Israeli civilians and troops, near-nightly arrest raids by the military, and an uptick in Dire Revenge attacks by hard boy Jewish settlers against Paleostinians.

According to a tally by The Times of Israel, 173 West Bank Paleostinians have also been killed since the beginning of the year — most of them during festivities with security forces or while carrying out attacks, but some were uninvolved civilians and others were killed under unclear circumstances, including by armed Israeli settlers.

Also Monday, hundreds of Paleostinians in the Gaza Strip rioted along the Israeli border. A spokesperson for the IDF told The Times of Israel that the rioters hurled a number of bombs, and several attempted to break through the security barrier.

IDF forces detained a number of Paleostinians in the area and handed them over to the Shin Bet security agency for questioning, the spokesperson added.

The Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,-run health ministry in the Gaza Strip said 18 people were maimed by Israeli fire during the rioting.

Israeli man lightly hurt, car torched, after he mistakenly enters Palestinian town

If I ever get to Israel I plan to stick to public transportation — there can be serious consequences for taking a wrong turn over there.
[IsraelTimes] IDF rescues civilian who was attacked in West Bank’s Turmus Ayya; mayor says some locals protected him until army showed up

An Israeli man was attacked and lightly hurt by Paleostinians after mistakenly entering the West Bank town of Turmus Ayya on Sunday night, the military said.

The man’s car was set on fire after entering the town, footage posted by Paleostinian media outlets showed. The military said Paleostinians also hurled stones at the man.

The Israel Defense Forces said troops arrived at the scene, entered the town, and extracted the man.

"As the forces and the civilian left the town, a riot developed, during which several suspects threw a burning object and threw stones," the IDF said, adding that no soldiers were hurt.

Turmus Ayya Mayor Lafi Adeeb told the Kan public broadcaster that the Israeli man did not enter through the town’s main entrance, but through a side route, raising suspicions among residents.

Adeeb said a group of youths attacked the man and set fire to his car. Shortly after, other locals arrived and protected him,
...bless them for being Good Samaritans...
before the army arrived, he told Kan.

The Rescuers Without Borders emergency service said the man was treated for a minor wound to his hand as a result of a stone being hurled at him during the attack.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant vowed that Israeli security forces would capture the assailants.

Turmus Ayya is located within Area B of the West Bank, under Israeli military control. It is not illegal for Israelis to enter Paleostinian towns in Area B (or Area C under full Israeli military and civil control), but is heavily discouraged by the military.

The incident came a day after a Paleostinian terrorist killed two Israeli men, a father and his son, while they were carrying out personal errands in the northern West Bank town of Huwara, also located within Area B. Shay Silas Nigreker, 60, and his 28-year-old son Aviad Nir were shot to death at a carwash.

Iron Dome fires at unidentified aircraft over Gaza, for second day in row
[IsraelTimes] Unclear if device, reported by Paleostinian media to be a small drone, was intercepted; large explosion also reported in Strip

The Iron Dome air defense system shot at an "unidentified aircraft" flying over the Gazoo

Strip on Monday morning, the military said, a day after a similar incident.

The Israel Defense Forces said the device was identified as flying toward Israeli airspace from Gaza, but did not end up crossing the border.

Iron Dome interceptor missiles were fired at the aircraft while it was still over the Strip, although it remained unclear if was intercepted, the IDF said.

"The aircraft did not pose an immediate threat to civilians in the area surrounding the Gaza Strip, and no alerts were activated according to protocol," the IDF added.

A video circulating on social media showed a drone flying over Gaza, with Paleostinian media reports suggesting the small aircraft was the device that the Iron Dome fired at.

Paleostinian media also reported a large blast west of Gaza City. The cause of the earth-shattering kaboom was not immediately clear.

On Sunday, the IDF said the Iron Dome shot down a small drone that was flying from the southern Gaza Strip toward Israeli airspace.

Israel typically does not interfere when Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", conducts drone test flights, only when they are being flown out of the Strip.

The Iron Dome was first used operationally to intercept a Hamas drone in May 2021, during an 11-day conflict with Paleostinian terror groups in the Strip, known in Israel as Operation Guardian of the Walls.

During the conflict, the system also mistakenly shot down an Israeli drone.

The IDF shot down drones over the Gaza Strip in March of this year, in May 2022, and in November 2021.

Terror charges filed against Palestinian who stabbed coworker in Petah Tikva garage
[IsrelTimes] Initially suspected to be a brawl, August 10 incident was a planned nationalistic attack by West Bank resident Muhammad Bassiouni, prosecutors say

A terror indictment was filed Monday against a Paleostinian from the Nablus area in the West Bank over a stabbing incident in central Israel earlier this month that was initially believed to have been a brawl.

Muhammad Bassiouni, 35, is accused of attempting to murder an Israeli employee who worked with him in the same Petah Tikva garage.

According to the indictment, Bassiouni had a valid work permit and slept in Petah Tikva most of the time.

"At some point, he decided to kill the son of one of the garage owners, who worked with him at the place," the indictment read, according to a statement by prosecutors.

On August 10, Bassiouni allegedly took a kitchen knife and attacked his fellow worker at an isolated area in the garage, stabbing him in the chest and upper body while yelling "holy shit! Allahu akbar" ("God is greatest" in Arabic).

The worker cried for help and fended off the attacker until the victim’s uncle came in. Bassiouni punched the uncle in the face and threatened him with the knife, before turning back to his original target, who was lying on the floor, according to the indictment. The two physically struggled until the attacker’s knife broke in two, after which the Paleostinian hit his victim in the face with the knife handle.

Bassiouni is also accused in the indictment of picking up a car battery and threatening to throw it at the fellow worker, and of taking a metal bar and smashing the worker’s cellphone until it caught fire.

He then allegedly changed his shirt and headed to a nearby street while saying "holy shit! Allahu akbar." He boarded a bus and demanded to be taken to Jerusalem.

At that point, the garage owner arrived and convinced Bassiouni to get off the bus, and he was arrested.

The Israeli worker was hospitalized in serious and unstable condition, suffering from multiple stab wounds, cuts and bruises.

Bassiouni is charged with attempted murder with a terror motive, aggravated assault with a terror motive, and obstruction of justice.

The indictment was filed at the Central District Court in Lod, alongside a request to keep him in jug until the end of court proceedings against him.

The incident was at the time reported as a suspected brawl, with the suspect apparently misidentified as a Jordanian resident.

Syria says soldier wounded in Israeli airstrikes on Damascus or possibly 2 killed
[IsraelTimes] State-run SANA news agency says ’material damage’ caused to several targets in Syrian capital

Israeli fighter jets carried out strikes against targets in the Syrian capital Damascus shortly before midnight on Monday, wounding one soldier, Syria’s state-run media reported.

The official news agency, SANA, said Israeli Air Force warplanes launched their missiles from over the Golan Heights, targeting a number of sites in and around Damascus.

SANA said air defenses had engaged the Israeli missiles. Syria regularly claims to intercept Israeli projectiles, though military analysts doubt such assertions.

Large explosions were heard over the capital during the alleged strikes, SANA reported.

The state-run media outlet said that "material damage" was caused to the sites that were targeted, and one soldier was maimed.

In recent years, numerous Syrian soldiers serving in air defense units have been killed or maimed in Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s attributed to Israel.

While Israel’s military does not, as a rule, comment on specific strikes in Syria, it has admitted to conducting hundreds of sorties against Iran-backed groups attempting to gain a foothold in the country, over the last decade.

The Israeli military says it also attacks arms shipments believed to be bound for those groups, chief among them Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
’s Hezbollah. Additionally, airstrikes attributed to Israel have repeatedly targeted Syrian air defense systems.
Rudaw adds:
An Israeli missile strike targeted military positions of the Syrian army in Damascus on Tuesday, killing at least two, reported a war monitor.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that the missiles targeted positions “a few kilometers away” from the Damascus international airport, adding that they are yet to confirm the identity of the casualties.

Positions and warehouses of Iran-backed militias and Lebanon’s Hezbollah group were also reportedly targeted.

Syrian state media (SANA) announced that at least one regime soldier was wounded due to the strike, which also resulted in material damage.

Tuesday’s strike marks the 23th Israeli attack on Syria since the start of the year, resulting in at least 61 killed and over 60 others wounded, according to SOHR data.

Iranian drones and speedboats swarm two US warships with 4,000 troops on board in Persian Gulf
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Dozens of Iranian drones and speedboats swarming two US Navy ships near the Persian Gulf after Washington sent them in to deal with Iran's renewed threat against one of the world's most important waterways, dramatic new footage has revealed.

Iran's navy sent the small vessels to confront the USS Bataan and the USS Carter Hall in the fraught Strait of Hormuz, which sits between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, according to a video published on Saturday. It is not currently known exactly when the incident took place as Washington has not commented on the situation.

The speedboats were manned with armed soldiers from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and came within inches of the ships, while drones also taunted the ships and managed to snap pictures right above them.

Chopped up footage taken from several of the drones and speedboats showed Iranian soldiers speaking in a mix of English and Farsi, while a US soldier can be heard through garbled radio responding to the swarm of vessels, though it is unclear exactly what was said.

Iranian media outlets claimed that the confrontation forced helicopters to land back on the Americans ships.

The ships, a helicopter carrier and a support vessel that were carrying more than 4,000 American troops between them, were sent to the Gulf in response to Iran's continued threats of seizing commercial ships in the region.

#2  Why does the US have two warships with 4,000 troops on board trying to start a new war with a foreign country?

Especially with morale declining and recruitment plummeting. The mission of the US military isn't invading and killing foreign countries any more. It's focused on domestic political culture war issues. Starting a new war at this point would be a humiliating failure. Remember Biden's Afghanistan withdrawal. Couldn't even lose a war correctly.
