Drug runner caught trying to smuggle pink meth into NYC through JFK Airport
The Barbie version?
[NYPOST] A drug-runner from Colombia was caught smuggling a bag of rare, pink-colored meth into New York, prosecutors said.

David Urrego Arteaga was indicted Monday in Brooklyn Federal Court on drug trafficking charges after he allegedly tried to bring at least 70 grams of pink meth through the JFK Airport on April 1 after taking off from Rio Negro, Colombia.

Pink meth, sometimes referred to as "Strawberry Quick Meth," can indicate that cold medications with red coatings, or even sidewalk chalk, were used in the manufacturing process, according to a 2008 National Institute of Drug Abuse study.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, a single surviver held tightly to the smashed prow...
red meth was seized by DEA agents in Arizona late last year, Fox 10 reported.

Authorities find record-breaking 9.5 tons of cocaine in banana shipment meant to go to 30 drug rings
[NYPOST] Spanish authorities found a record-breaking 9.5 tons of cocaine in a shipment from Ecuador that was meant to go to 30 European drug rings.
Somebody's gonna be a little terse this morning
The large shipment was discovered on Wednesday in a refrigerated banana container in the southern port of Algeciras.

The boxes were marked with 30 logos that correlated with different European criminal rings that were expected to get the coveted drug.

Police did not name any of the organizations.

"This operation was an unprecedented blow to one of the world’s most important criminal organizations in cocaine distribution, targeting major criminal networks in Europe," police said in a statement.

The criminal organization in Ecuador had a large network to ship drugs to Spain, mainly to the ports of Algeciras and Vigo in the northwest, through an international banana trading company located in Ecuador’s main banana port, Machala.

Afghanistan
Taliban Force 15 Families to Displace in Baghlan Province: Allegations of Collaboration with NRF

Reports from local sources in Baghlan Province highlight a distressing situation where the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
have allegedly expelled at least 15 families from the region under the pretext of their association with the National Resistance® Front (NRF).

Sources revealed on Sunday, August 26, in an interview with Hasht-e Subh, that the Taliban have been using coercion over the last two days to compel these families to abandon their homes in the villages of Khosh-dara and Khawosh, located in the Khust district of Baghlan Province.

It has come to light that the Taliban have forcefully displaced families who resided in the mountainous terrain, accusing them of providing assistance to the NRF. Shockingly, instances of physical violence against members of these families have also been reported.

In an added distress, some of the residents who still remain in these villages have been issued a 48-hour ultimatum by the Taliban to vacate their homes.

Nevertheless, sources vehemently assert that these families hold no ties with the NRF, challenging the basis of these actions by the Taliban.

This incident falls in line with a disconcerting pattern observed earlier this year, wherein the Taliban uprooted hundreds of families from districts like Khaja Bahauddin, Deh-Salah, Andarab, and Doshi within Baghlan Province. Notably, these areas are predominantly inhabited by the Tajik ethnic group.

Daily Evacuation Brief August 27, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • UN SECURITY COUNCIL ON EDGE AFTER FRIDAY MEETING – A couple of key issues were raised at the UNSC meeting on Friday that appear to be making council member-states nervous. The first issue involves the proliferation of arms trafficking from Afghanistan to other parts of the world and the second involved an assessment that ISIS-K’s strength was growing in Afghanistan and that tactical proficiency in its attacks against the Taliban was increasing. The UNSC heard reports from two senior UN counter-terrorism officials concerning these threats. It was not immediately clear if a course of action to deter either threat would be put in motion.

  • QATAR CALLS INTO QUESTION THE LACK OF A CLEAR POLICY FOR DEALING WITH THE TALIBAN – Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Qatari Foreign Minister raised several issues at a recent meeting at the International Institute for Strategic Studies that cast doubt on the current course when it comes to dealing with the Taliban. He complained of a lack of a roadmap or milestone list that could chart a way forward for the country and said that lacking any kind of roadmap would only succeed in helping to solve minor problems. He went on to warn that disengagement from the Taliban would lead to a vacuum and greater chaos in the country. It is important to note that Qatar was on the scene very early in the crisis and likely has a better read of the internal thinking within the Taliban than most. It is generally felt that the de facto leaders will need to reverse their gender discrimination policies before engagement can occur.

  • US LEADERS HONOR THE US SERVICE MEMBERS AND AFGHANS KILLED AT THE ABBEY GATE BOMBING – Several US officials released statements to mark the 2 year anniversary of the Abbey Gate terrorist bomb attack that killed 13 US military personnel and over 100 Afghans at the Kabul airport on 26 August 2021.

  • ACCUSATIONS OF TIES TO RESISTANCE FORCES RESULTS IN EVICTIONS FROM FAMILY HOMES – Disturbing reports received by Hasht-E Subh claim that Taliban security forces in Baghlan continue to displace families over alleged collaboration (or sympathy) with the National Resistance Front. Hasht-E Subh’s sources say that at least 15 families have been forcibly removed from their homes across the Province in recent days and that a concerted effort to force more families to leave has been ongoing for the last three days. An unknown number of families have been given a forty-eight-hour deadline to leave their homes in the villages of Khosh-Dara and Khawosh (Khust District). Sources in Kabul say the displacements often have nothing to do with support for the Resistance and that many of these operations have been undertaken to give the homes to displaced TTP members and/or as gifts to loyal Taliban supporters. Hundreds have lost their homes in the Northern Provinces over the course of 2022 and 2023.

CONFLICT TRACKER
  • Parwan: The NRF announced it had launched an early morning operation against a Taliban security checkpoint in the province. They claim to have killed 3 Taliban fighters in the action,

  • Takhar: In an undisclosed location in Takhar Province, the NRF says it conducted a raid on a Taliban facility that resulted in the deaths of 3 Taliban members.

NEXT 24 HOURS: No Threats Reported

Somalia army makes strategic advances in Al-Shabaab war
[Garowe] Government forces have made strategic advances in an ongoing crackdown against al-Shabaab
...... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
krazed killers, following the latest strategic advances made towards Elbur town, with the capturing of Dac village which is 18 KMs southwest of the country, giving a clear indication perhaps of impending victory.

Already, the Somali soldiers have captured Oswein, Wabxo, War Xoolo, Dac, and several other smaller villages, which are deemed strategic in the al-Shabaab war. On Saturday, heavy festivities erupted in Oswein village, but the government forces have since repulsed the dawn attack.

Last week on Wednesday, the elite Danab Special Forces clashed with al-Shabaab murderous Moslems near Gobagaal, west of Wabxo as they pushed forward towards Dac which is a village but had strategic importance to al-Shabaab as it located a juncture between Wabo and Elbur and between Ceel Dheere and Derri, Voice of America reports.

According to Somali officials, the special forces have already overpowered the krazed killers, in what could be the beginning of the fall of the notorious group. A Somali government official told VOA the murderous Moslems have been taking the residents "hostage" by ordering them to vacate the towns before government troops arrive.

Insiders believe capturing Elbur without significant resistance could also mean that the murderous Moslems may have surrendered in large numbers or retreated further to avoid incurring losses. The al-Shabaab murderous Moslems have been losing significant territories in recent weeks.

Analysts believe that without encountering tangible resistance from al-Shabaab, the murderous Moslems withdrawing towns and villagers and saving themselves to fight the war they have been fighting for the past 12 years - retreat into the bush, stretch government forces and supplies, besiege, and then launch complex raids and ambushes.

The government commanders said they are better prepared this time. Time will tell if that is the case, Voice of America adds. The group usually retreats before waging complex attacks, and this could inform their strategy to regulate responses to military attacks across the Horn of Africa nation.

Government troops can succeed if they do not rest and follow the murderous Moslems into the valleys and countryside. They will succeed if they carry out intel-led operations that target hideouts, supplies, and deny them the opportunity to rest and gather, analysts say. A major component of this operation will be air support, and the government has options to utilise effectively.

Sudanese army thwarts new attack on Armoured Corps
[SUDANTRIBUNE] On Saturday, the Sudanese army successfully repelled a fresh assault launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)
...the UAE-supported paramilitary led by General Mohammed Hamad Daglo, known as “Hemetti”, a Zaghawa ‘Masalit’ — the term for ethnic African tribals from Darfur in Western Sudan. Not long ago Hemetti was the Number 2 in the Sudanese government until the Big Guy suddenly changed his mind...
against the armoured corps headquarters, resulting in significant losses for the attacking forces.

Just over a week ago, the Armored Corps Command, situated south of the capital, Khartoum, faced a series of meticulously coordinated attacks from the paramilitary forces. But the army repelled these attacks on the strategic site.

Maj Gen Nasr al-Din Abdel-Fattah, the commander of the Armored Corps, in an audio recording circulated on platforms supportive of the armed forces, stated that "The army managed to shatter the enemy’s advance and achieved a resounding victory against the Janjaweed forces. For seven consecutive days, we have inflicted heavy losses upon them in engagements that lasted a mere two hours."

Elaborating further, he disclosed that the RSF sought to advance from the southern flank of the army in the suburb of Jabra, mobilizing a considerable number of soldiers, accompanied by heavily armed four-wheel drive vehicles and a tank.

Reaffirming that the army responded to this aggression without requiring Air Force intervention, he recounted how they compelled the attackers to flee, leaving their casualties behind.

"Our current concern centres around the presence of deceased bodies in the vicinity of the armoured corps and nearby neighbourhoods. The enemy’s resistance cannot endure for more than ten minutes," he added.

In the preceding week, the paramilitary forces which have been fighting the army for more than four weeks managed to breach the eastern perimeter, of the 20 km camp, before the army successfully ousted them once again.

The departure of al-Burhan from the army’s general command headquarters on August 24 and his relocation beyond the capital sent shockwaves through the Rapid Support Forces, who had previously claimed to have besieged him.

Furthermore, the Sudanese Army Air Force on Saturday conducted a series of intensive sorties targeting Rapid Support positions across the three cities of Khartoum.

Europe
Rescue ship saves 438 migrants in Mediterranean: NGO
[AlAhram] Rescue ship Ocean Viking has saved 438 migrants colonists in distress in the Mediterranean over the last two days, the organization that runs it, SOS Mediterranee, said on late Friday.

The rescues took place in international waters off the coasts of Libya and Tunisia, the La Belle France-based NGO said.

Earlier in the day, the NGO said that on Thursday it had "rescued 272 people" of 23 different nationalities from three boats in the central Mediterranean, the most perilous maritime crossing in the world for the migrants colonists.

Those rescued included "32 unaccompanied minors, nine babies and five people with disabilities", said the organization, which is based in Marseille, on the French Mediterranean.

Later Friday, it said it had rescued another 166 people when it "went to the aid of a number of boats in distress".

Those onboard were evacuated "in coordination with the Italian coastiess in the search and rescue area between Tunisia and Lampedusa".

The tiny Italian island of Lampedusa, located just 90 miles (145 kilometres) from Tunisia, is the first port of call for many migrants colonists seeking to make the treacherous sea journey to Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
from North Africa.

In total, "438 rescued people are currently on board", SOS Mediteranee said.

The Ocean Viking was "heading towards Genoa" in northern Italia because the Italian authorities had ordered them to go to the distant port to disembark the migrants colonists, the group added.

At least 2,013 people have died or gone missing so far this year attempting to cross the central Mediterranean, according to the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
migration agency, the International Organization for Migration.

That is significantly higher than its figure for the whole of 2022, which was 1,417.

In June, one sinking alone in the western Mediterranean cost the lives of at least 82 people, one of the deadliest incidents involving migrants colonists in the area.

In July, the Italian authorities detained the Ocean Viking for 10 days at Civitavecchia, after questioning the vessel's safety standards, before finally releasing it.

group.

Court documents showed Mohammad Masood, 31, a licensed medical doctor in Pakistain, was formerly employed as a research coordinator at a clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Between January and March 2020, he used an encrypted messaging application to facilitate his travel overseas to join a terrorist organization.

A US Justice Department blurb said Mr Masood made multiple statements about his desire to join the turban Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham group, and he pledged his allegiance to the organization and its leader. The doctor also expressed his desire to conduct "lone wolf" terrorist attacks in the United States.

According to the documents submitted in a federal court, Mr Masood on Feb 21, 2020, purchased a plane ticket from reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown

pandemic.

Mr Masood then decided to fly from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Los Angeles to meet up with an individual who he believed would assist him with travel via a fat merchantman to the IS territory.

On March 19, that year Mr Masood travelled from Rochester to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to board a flight bound for Los Angeles. Upon arrival at MSP, he was arrested by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Mr Masood pleaded guilty on Aug 16, 2022, to attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. He was sentenced on Aug 25 before Senior Judge Paul A. Magnuson.

100k claimed at Tel Aviv anti-judicial protests Sat evening
An infinite number of excuses for protesting the fact that the voters chose the rightwing Netanyahu government instead of their — and the Biden administration’s —preferred lefties.
[IsraelTimes] Protesters demonstrated Saturday evening in Tel Aviv and across Israel for a 34th consecutive week against the government’s plans for overhauling the judicial system.

With the legislative push to weaken the judiciary on hold amid the Knesset’s summer recess, anti-government demonstrators have increasingly highlighted other grievances during recent protests, including recent incidents of discrimination against women and the sway religious parties hold on the ruling coalition.

Continuing to branch out, protesters this week also highlighted surging violent mostly peaceful crime in Arab communities, as the government faces increased criticism over its response to record homicide numbers.

Some 100,000 people took part in the Tel Aviv rally, according to media assessments and the CrowdSolutions firm cited by Channel 13.

The main protest at Tel Aviv’s Kaplan Street included a keynote Arab speaker, Tira Mayor Mamoun Abd al-Hay. The mayor’s address comes days after Tira municipal director Abdel Rahman Kashua was rubbed out in the central city.

Kashua’s killing was followed a day later by a quadruple homicide in the northern town of Abu Snan, one of the deadliest single acts of criminal violence this year.

At the protest in Jerusalem outside the President’s Residence, Warda Sada, a prominent educator and Arab activist, said:
The usual type of thing can be read at the link should you be interested, dear Reader.
Speaking at a protest at the Karkur junction in northern Israel, Opposition Leader Yair Lapid called Ben Gvir a "despicable racist and a complete failure," referring to remarks this week, in which he said that the Jews’ right to travel and live safely in the West Bank is more important than Arabs’ freedom of movement.

Earlier Saturday, Yisrael Beytenu chief Avigdor Liberman and former defense minister Moshe Ya’alon railed at the government.

HTS: Mutual shelling gov’t forces Fri night and Saturday kills 2 kids, HTS kabooms tunnel under gov’t military camp kill 11 soldiers and 2 turbans
HTS-government forces mutual shelling in NW Syrian causes casualties

Two children were killed and six others were injured on Saturday evening in a mutual shelling on residential neighborhoods in the southern countryside of Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria, between the government forces and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS -formerly al-Nusra Front).

An administrative source from the Civil Defense team stated that two siblings were killed and their mother was injured, in addition to three others and a woman being injured in the government forces’ shelling on residential neighborhoods in the town of Kansafra, south of Idlib. An old man was also injured in a similar shelling that targeted the village of Deir Sonbol, south of Idlib.

The source told North Press that the shelling also targeted the villages of Majdaliya, al-Bara, and al-Mozara in southern Idlib, as well as the outskirts of the village of Kafr Nouran west of Aleppo, without any reported injuries.

Simultaneously, the HTS targeted government forces’ posts in the town of Kafr Nabl, south of Idlib, Tala al-Malek, north of Latakia Governorate, on the Syrian coast, and the axis of Regiment 46 west of Aleppo, in addition to al-Malaja camp and the village of Hazarin, south of Idlib.

Prior to the shelling, the HTS detonated a tunnel targeting the government forces, which was dug beneath the Malaja Camp, killing and injuring 25 soldiers of the government forces. They also targeted a tank in the village of Hazarin, according to sources

A military source within the Syrian opposition told North Press that the government forces targeted with heavy artillery and missiles the villages and towns of Fatterah, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhen, Kansafra in Zawiya Mountain in the south of Idlib, and Kafr Taal, Kafr Amma, Tadil, al-Wasata, and al-Qasr in the west of Aleppo.

Jihadists kill 11 Syria soldiers in tunnel attack, says war monitor

[IsraelTimes] Jihadists killed at least 11 soldiers in northwestern Syria Saturday when they detonated explosives placed in tunnels dug underneath army positions before attacking them, a monitor said.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition war monitor, said the Ansar al-Tawhid group, which is allied with al-Qaeda, and the Turkestan Islamic Party
...... Uighur jihadi group based in Badakshan, Afghanistan and listed under Tehrik-e-Taliban in the Al Qaeda organization table. Their Syria subsidiary currently reports to Al Nusra in the Idlib-Latakia region, where the Russians and Americans have been taking turns shooting them — they’re on their third Number 1 in three years......
(TIP) carried out the attack in the south of Idlib province with its members first detonating a massive bomb and then storming the position manned by government troops.

The jihadists "detonated tunnels they had dug beneath army positions and simultaneously launched an assault from other tunnels", said Rami Abdel Rahman, who heads the Britannia-based Observatory.

The attack, which also maimed 20 soldiers, came as Syria and its main military ally Russia bombarded the mountainous Jabal al-Zawiya area of Idlib province, the Observatory said, without immediately reporting any casualties.

Other activist collectives, including Amjad News, also reported the attack saying it killed and maimed dozens of soldiers without giving a breakdown.

There was no immediate comment from the Syrian government or state media.

The White Helmets volunteer emergency service said that two children — a brother and sister — were killed and five other civilians maimed when their home in the village of Kansafra was hit.

An AFP photographer witnessed the funerals of the two children.

On Friday, Russia carried out air strikes on the Jisr al-Shughur region further north, where TIP jihadists are present, the Observatory said.

Both groups involved in the tunnel attack are affiliated with the jihadist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
(HTS) group, which controls swathes of Idlib province as well as parts of the adjacent provinces of Aleppo, Hama and Latakia.

Seven HTS fighters were killed Friday in bombardments by government forces and at least 13 others in Russian air strikes Monday, said the Observatory, which relies on a network of sources on the ground in Syria for its reports.

Two civilians were also reported to have been killed by Russian strikes near Idlib.

The war monitor said "two jihadists took their own lives" in Saturday’s attack and that the corpse count was expected to rise as the "intense festivities are still ongoing".

The TIP is largely made up of jihadists from China’s Uighur Moslem minority who came to Syria after 2011 to assist groups like HTS, which is led by al-Qaeda’s former affiliate in Syria.

Lebanon arrests '2 Russians' who tried to spy on Hezbollah for Israel
More on this story from yesterday, when they were identified simply as Israeli spies.
[NAHARNET] General Security acting Director-General Maj. Gen. Elias Bayssari has announced the arrest of two individuals at Beirut’s airport who are suspected of having ties to Israel.

Bayssari added that the two men had been tasked with carrying out security operations in Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
and that they have since been referred to the military judiciary.

Security sources meanwhile told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper that the two suspects are "non-Jew Russians."

"Their mission was to monitor and try to infiltrate sensitive Hezbollah sites," the sources said.
