-Lurid Crime Tales-
El Chapo's son Ovidio Guzman Lopez is extradited from Mexico to Chicago to face charges of smuggling huge quantities of meth and fentanyl to US
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Infamous drug lord El Chapo's son Ovidio Guzman Lopez has been extradited from Mexico to the US to face drugs charges. Lopez was flown to Chicago Friday, where he'll face charges of smuggling huge quantities of meth and fentanyl across the border and into the United States. The drug lord - who is the son of Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman - is now in US custody ahead of trial, US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced.

The Mexican government did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Mexican security forces captured Guzmán López, alias 'the Mouse,' in January in Culiacan, capital of Sinaloa state, the cartel´s namesake. Three years earlier, the government had tried to capture him, but aborted the operation after his cartel allies set off a wave of violence in Culiacan. January´s arrest set off similar violence that killed 30 people in Culiacan, including 10 military personnel.

The army used Black Hawk helicopter gunships against the cartel´s truck-mounted .50-caliber machine guns.

Cartel gunmen hit two military aircraft forcing them to land and sent gunmen to the city´s airport where military and civilian aircraft were hit by gunfire.

The capture came just days before U.S. President Joe Biden visited Mexico for bilateral talks followed by the North American Leaders´ Summit.

In April, U.S. prosecutors unsealed sprawling indictments against Guzmán and his brothers, known collectively as the 'Chapitos.' They laid out in detail how following their father´s extradition and eventual life sentence in the U.S., the brothers steered the cartel increasingly into synthetic drugs like methamphetamine and the powerful synthetic opioid fentanyl.

El Chapo was convicted of drugs offenses in 2019 and sentenced to die in the infamous ADX Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado. His ex-girlfriend Emma Coronel was released from a halfway house earlier this week.

The indictment unsealed in Manhattan said their goal was to produce huge quantities of fentanyl and sell it at the lowest price. Fentanyl is so cheap to make that the cartel reaps immense profits even wholesaling the drug at 50 cents per pill, prosecutors said. The brothers denied the allegations in a letter.

The Chapitos became known for grotesque violence that appeared to surpass any notions of restraint shown by earlier generations of cartel leaders.

Fentanyl has become a top priority in the bilateral security relationship.

But Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has denied assertions by the U.S. government and his own military about fentanyl production in Mexico, instead describing the country as a transit point for precursors coming from China and bound for the U.S.

An estimated 109,680 overdose deaths occurred last year in the United States, according to numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 75,000 of those were linked to fentanyl and other synthetic opioids. Inexpensive fentanyl is increasingly cut into other drugs, often without the buyers´ knowledge.

Mass migrant releases begin in San Diego as border overwhelmed: 'You're free'
[FoxNews] Video shows hundreds of migrants from countries as far as China released onto San Diego streets

Border Patrol agents in San Diego are releasing hundreds of illegal immigrants onto city streets as it struggles to deal with a surge of migrants into the area – just after similar releases had started in Arizona.

Video out of San Diego shows hundreds of migrants being released from buses, with migrants from China and Pakistan onto the streets. A conversation in the video shows a migrant speaking to a Border Patrol agent, who tells him he can do whatever he wants now.

"You’re free to go on and do wherever you want. You’re free," the agent says.

"It’s no problem if I go to Chicago?" the migrant asks.

"You can do whatever you want," the agent says.

This is after releases have been taking place in Arizona in the Tucson Sector for days as agents have been facing 2,000 encounters a day and images have emerged of packed shelters in places like Ajo.

Meanwhile, Texas is continuing to use razor wire to block migrants trying to enter illegally, as it fends off a challenge from the Biden administration seeking to stop it from building a buoy barrier in the Rio Grande.

The border as a whole has seen multiple days this week of over 7,000 illegal crossings, and when combined with migrants who have come to the ports of entry, that number rises to over 9,000.

Sources told Fox News this week that early indications show migrant encounters for August on track to exceed 230,000, making it the sixth month this fiscal year over 200,000. Fox has reported on how Border Patrol leadership is setting "bookout" targets to more quickly process migrants either into the interior or into deportation or removal.

Republicans in Congress are pushing for a border security to be passed in the Senate, having already passed the House. But that has shown little chance of receiving Democratic support, while a Democratic reform bill has been rejected by Republicans for the inclusion of an amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants.

Taliban Detain Four Former Government Soldiers in Parwan
[8am] Local sources in Panjshir Province have reported the detention of four individuals from this province in Parwan Province, stating that these individuals were former soldiers of the previous government.

Sources, speaking to Hasht-e Subh on Wednesday, September 13th, disclosed that the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
apprehended them nine days ago in Parwan Province, but their fate remains unknown at this time.

The sources have identified these individuals as Saifuddin, Mahfuz, Shah Wali, and Aynuddin, noting that three of them are brothers.

The detained individuals are originally from the Shatal district of Panjshir Province.

As of now, the Taliban have not issued any official statement regarding this matter.

It is worth mentioning that the Taliban have recently increased the detention of civilians and former government soldiers in various parts of the country, particularly in the northern provinces near Kabul.

Some residents of the northern provinces near Kabul have described the Taliban’s detention of civilians and former government soldiers as "extortion," alleging that the Taliban primarily detain these individuals for "money and weapons" but subsequently release them after receiving their demands.

Taliban Detain 24 Bamiyan Residents Based on Claims by Another Individual
[8am] Local sources in Bamiyan
...a place in Afghanistan that used to have some historically interesting statues of the Buddha carved into a mountainside. Then the holy men showed up and now all they have is some big holes...
are reporting that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
have detained 24 residents from one of the villages in the center of this province, based on the claim of ownership by another individual.

According to sources, on Wednesday, September 13th, Taliban security forces in Bamiyan detained at least 24 residents of the village of Righshad in this province at the request of an individual named Alam Shah, who belongs to the Pashtun ethnic group.

Sources state that Alam Shah has falsely claimed ownership of this village, and for nearly a month, he has blocked transportation routes for 500 families from the Righshad village.

According to sources, this individual has demanded six million and seven hundred thousand Afghanis from the village residents as a condition for reopening the roads.

This situation arises after Abdullah Sarhadi, the Taliban governor for Bamiyan, illegally and unilaterally settled legal disputes between the villagers and the nomadic Kuchis
...pastoral Pashtun nomads who have been granted free passage and land use rights since the Pashtun kings ruled Afghanistan. About 2.5 million of them follow the traditional migration route up and down Afghanistan, contesting land ownership along the way, all strong supporters of their fellow Pashtuns, the Taliban...
in favor of the Kuchis during the month of July this year, without following the proper legal and judicial procedures.

Based on information from sources, Sarhadi has appointed nearly 10 Kuchi members to the commission for resolving disputes between villagers and Kuchis in the center of Bamiyan, and he unlawfully settles major legal disputes in favor of the Kuchis through them.

Furthermore, yesterday, two residents of this province were also detained in the village of Rashk for failing to relinquish their personal lands to Taliban members under the orders of the Taliban governor in the village.

Taliban Detain International Organization Staff in Ghor and Transfer Them to Kabul
[8am] Local sources in Ghor province report that Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
members have detained employees of the International Assistance Mission (IAM) in one of the districts of the province.

According to reports from these sources, the Taliban group carried out a raid on the offices of the "International Assistance Mission" in the Lal Wa Sarjangal district of Ghor province on Wednesday, September 13th, and detained all employees of the organization, including both men and women.

Sources indicate that after their detention, the organization’s staff were transported from Ghor to Kabul by Taliban intelligence.

However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
two different sources have provided conflicting information regarding the number of detained employees. The first source reports 13 individuals, while the second source claims the figure to be 15.

As of now, the Taliban have not issued any official statement regarding the detention of the organization’s staff.

Hasht-e Subh attempted to obtain comments from the organization’s officials regarding the incident but was unsuccessful in their efforts.

IAM was involved in charitable and public-interest projects in Ghor province.

This incident follows previous disruptions of humanitarian aid distribution activities in Ghor due to Taliban interference, resulting in the suspension of operations for several organizations.

Africa Horn
Sudanese armed forces enlist more civilians
As long as they don’t compete with Russia by going off to Cuba for volunteers.
[AFRICANEWS] Sudan
......
's army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said in early July that the army is ready to "receive and equip" voluntary fighters.

On September 6, civilians recruited by the Sudanese army took part in a military training and parade in Wadi Hamid, in northern Sudan.

An army spokesperson had previously said that the enlistment would be voluntary. Sudan’s existing armed forces law says, however, that retired soldiers remain as reservists, eligible for compulsory re-enlistment. That does not include those who only did Sudan’s mandatory two-year military service.

The possible recruitment of civilians, which could worsen already deadly violence, has been the subject of debate for weeks.

Since battles began on April 15 between the regular army, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commanded by Burhan's former deputy Mohammed Hamdan Daglo, nearly 7,500 people have been killed, according to a conservative estimate from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project

Humanitarian organizations are particularly concerned about the plight of children, over 13.6 million of whom are, according to Unicef, in need of humanitarian aid, and 300,000 at risk of starvation.

The government-led military operation against al-Shabaab in central Somalia has led to an influx of gunnies southwards towards Jubaland state, according to the security experts.

As part of the second phase of the army offensive, the federal government plans to expand the offensive to Jubaland and Southwest states in southern Somalia in the final push.

The new phase reportedly aims to flush out al-Shabaab from the remaining parts of the country under its control, following the first phase that began in August 2022.

In the first phase, the government sought support from clan militias from the Hawiye clan, and regained substantial territory from al-Shabaab. Subsequently, clan militias have played a vital role in the government-led operation.

Internal disputes among Al-Qaeda in Ma'rib escalate
Green on green? Perhaps they’ll thin the ranks a bit.
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] A heated conflict is reportedly taking place among the leaders of Al-Qaeda, which led to the arrest of the Sharia judge for the organization in the Wadi district of Ma’rib governorate, which is under the control of the Islah factions affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition, informed sources revealed on Friday.

According to the sources, the leaders of al-Qaeda, based in the Wadi district in Ma’rib, arrested the judge, Abu Bashir, a year and a half ago. This was reported by the correspondent of the Saudi News Al-Aan channel in Aden, Assem Al-Sabri, on his X account.

The sources pointed out that the security apparatus of al-Qaeda, led by Ibrahim al-Banna, failed to assassinate Abu Bashir during the last period.

Al-Qaeda camps are spread in al-Wadi district, east of Ma’rib city, which is under the control of the Islah party authorities, making it the headquarters of the organization’s leaders.

Dubai police recover $1 billion worth amphetamine captagon
[GEO.TV] The United Arab Emirates (UAE) successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle over 13 tonnes of the amphetamine captagon, valued at more than $1 billion.

The drug was concealed within a shipment of doors and decorative building panels. Dubai Police arrested six individuals involved in what they described as "one of the largest smuggling operations of captagon tablets in the world."

The smugglers employed innovative methods to hide the pills, concealing them within 432 high-end furniture panels and 651 professionally crafted doors made of iron and wood. Extracting the tablets from these items took several days.

A surveillance video released by the UAE's interior ministry shows the suspects attempting to bring the captagon tablets through Dubai's Jebel Ali Port.

Authorities in the UAE have been actively combating the smuggling of captagon pills since 2019. In June of this year, the Abu Dhabi Customs reported seizing nearly 175,000 pills between the beginning of 2019 and May 2023.

While captagon was initially a brand name for a medicinal product containing the synthetic stimulant fenethylline, it is no longer produced legally. Counterfeit drugs bearing the captagon name are often confiscated in the Middle East, particularly in the Gulf region. Most global captagon production occurs in Syria, with the Gulf region being a primary destination for these drugs.

The rapid expansion of this industry has raised concerns in the international community. In response, the United States introduced the 2022 US Captagon Act, which linked the captagon trade to the Syrian regime and classified it as a "transnational security threat."

Belgian court hands out heavy sentences over Brussels terror attack
[IsraelTimes] Eight men given lengthy prison time over 2016 suicide kabooms at airport and metro that killed 32 people and were claimed by Islamic State.

A Belgian court on Friday handed out sentences ranging up to life in prison to eight men for the 2016 jihadist bombings in Brussels, ending the country’s largest-ever criminal trial. The suicide kabooms on March 22, 2016 at Brussels’ main airport and on the metro system killed 32 people and were claimed by the Islamic State group.
Not sure who the eighth man is — the article names only seven. Named are Salah Abdeslam, Mohamed Abrini, Osama Krayem, Bilal El Makhoukhi, Oussama Atar, Herve Bayingana Muhirwa, and Sofien Ayari.
French citizen Salah Abdeslam and Belgian-Moroccan Mohammed Abrini — already sentenced to life in jail by La Belle France for a 2015 massacre in Gay Paree — were the highest-profile of six culprits found guilty of murder in July. Abrini, who was one of the designated bombers but decided not to blow himself up at the last moment, was given a 30-year jail term. The court ruled not to give Abdeslam an additional term after he was sentenced in Belgium to 20 years in 2018 over a shootout.

J&K: Forces Use Drones, Fire Mortar Shells As Anantnag Operation Enters Day 3 and another soldier succumbs, raising toll to 4
[OneIndia] Drones have been pressed into service to pinpoint the location of the turbans who have taken positions in the forest area on a hilly terrain in Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
's Anantnag district, officials said as the operation to flush out the ultras entered the third day on Friday.

The turbans killed four security personnel on Wednesday.

''The forces fired mortar shells on the terrain where they believe the turbans are hiding, based on drone surveillance,'' the officials said.

The security forces have maintained a tight cordon in the area, they added.

Colonel Manpreet Singh, commanding officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles unit of the Army, Major Ashish Dhonchak, Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat and a soldier were killed in an encounter with the turbans at Gadole in the Kokernag area of the south Kashmir district on Wednesday morning.

Anantnag Encounter: Soldier Loses Life, Toll Climbs To 4

[OneIndia] A fourth soldier departed this vale of tears on Friday, bringing the corpse count to four in an ongoing encounter in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
. The area is cordoned off, and a search operation is underway, according to an official statement.

The encounter followed a shootout that erupted between security forces and concealed bully boyz in the Kokernag area of Anantnag on Wednesday. In this violent mostly peaceful exchange, an Army Rashtriya Rifles unit Commanding Officer (Colonel), a Company Commander (Major), and a Jammu and Kashmir Police Deputy Superintendent (DSP) bit the dust. The encounter is ongoing.

The four officials who tragically bit the dust are Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonchack, DSP Humayun Bhat, and the fourth soldier whose identity has not been disclosed.

Colonel Manpreet Singh and Major Ashish Dhonchack were laid to rest in their hometown of Panipat on Friday morning. DSP Humayun Bhat was given his final farewell on Thursday at his residence in Budgam. After the encounter, the Indian Army airlifted their remains to Srinagar on Thursday, and a tribute was paid to their mortal remains on Thursday evening.

Officials have disclosed that the army was leading the operation based on specific intelligence inputs, searching for bully boyz in a hideout when the firefight erupted. The bully boyz initiated gunfire, resulting in the immediate death of Colonel Manpreet Singh and injuries to two other officials who later gave up the ghost in a Srinagar hospital.

The bully boyz are believed to be associated with "The Resistance® Front," a proxy group of Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
. Security forces suspect that two to three bully boyz are still hiding in the area. To facilitate surveillance and aid in the search operation, Heron drones and quadcopters have been deployed in the region, as reported by officials.

In response to the killing of four security personnel, anti-Pakistain protests erupted on Thursday in various parts of Jammu city. Organizations such as Panun Kashmir and the Eik Sanatam Bharat Dal (ESBD) paid homage to the fallen personnel and called for a comprehensive operation against the terrorist network in Jammu and Kashmir.

Militants blow up gas well in Dera Bugti
They did the same about a year ago, whoever they are.
[Dawn] Unknown bandidos faceless myrmidons blew up a gas well in the Pirkoh gas field area of Dera Bugti
...a district in Balochistan...
on Thursday, suspending supply to various localities of the district.
Just guessing, but it seems to me this is more likely to be a Baloch Liberation Army project rather than the TTP, but the article gives no suggestions as to identity.
Officials said unknown bandidos faceless myrmidons planted explosives at the well No 41, which went off, causing fire in the well and suspending supply to a vast area. Security forces rushed to the site after the earth-shattering kaboom and brought the fire under control.

"The gas well was badly damaged due to the blast," officials of Oil and Gas Development Company said, adding that rearing work started in the well will be completed soon and supply would be restored accordingly.

Two days ago, unknown people had blown up two 12-inch diameter pipelines in the Zain Loti gas field area which also disrupted gas supply to many areas.

"A big portion of both the gas pipelines were blown up in the blasts," officials said, adding that engineers and other staff immediately started repairing the damaged pipelines and restored gas supply to the affected areas.

NIA attaches UP-based property used by Al-Qaeda member to prepare for terror attack
[OneIndia] The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday said that they have attached a house in Uttar Pradesh as 'proceeds of terrorism' after discovering that it was being used by an active member of the banned terrorist organization, al-Qaeda/Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind,
...also spelt Ansar Ghazwatul Hind, it’s Al Qaeda’s franchise in Kashmir and beyond since splitting from Hizbul Mujahedeen in 2017. They’re on their fourth emir since then, which doesn’t bode well for long term success...
to make preparations for carrying out terror attacks, an official said.

"The accused, Minhaj Ahmed, was using the property, situated on Ring Road, Dubagga,
...an up-and-coming area of Lucknow, which is in the center of the north of India, near Nepal, while Kashmir is waaaay over to the upper left of the thing as one looks at a map (yes, of course that means west, dear Reader — I’m not a total ignoramus!), which would have been a bit of a trek while carrying live bombs and such, so it’s just as well that the NIA johnnies picked him up just now....
Uttar Pradesh, for carrying out various terror-related unlawful activities, including fabrication of IEDs and petrol bombs, to carry out terrorist attacks in the state. The property is registered in the name of Minhaj's father, Siraj Ahmad and the latter's mother and brother," the official added.

The NIA has found that Minhaj had provided funds to the co-accused for the purpose of carrying out violent mostly peaceful Jihadi (terrorist activities) in Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
. The accused procured certain raw materials and components to fabricate an IED in a pressure cooker, which was recovered from the property attached on Monday.
...no doubt from that old Al Qaeda Magazine article “How To Make A Pressure Cooker Bomb In The Kitchen Of Your Mom” that the Tsarnaev brothers found so useful.
Minhaj had also prepared a sample IED using materials in small quantity and carried out its controlled explosion (testing) on the roof of the said house, NIA investigations have revealed.

The anti-terror agency has also found that Minhaj had recorded a video of the fabrication of IED as well as its controlled explosion and sent it to Musa. He had also prepared a petrol bomb and shared a video of its fabrication with Musa.

Minhaj had also procured a pistol and live ammunition, and concealed it in his room on the first floor of the said house.

The case was initially registered as on July 11, 2021, by the ATS, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. It was taken over and re-registered by NIA on July 29 the same year.

The NIA has so far arrested and charge-sheeted six accused in the case.

Strip in response to renewed rioting by Paleostinians along the border on Friday.

In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces said hundreds of Paleostinians rioted on the Israeli border on Friday afternoon, including setting off bombs on the security barrier and hurling grenades at troops.

The IDF said soldiers stationed in the area responded with riot dispersal means and live fire in some cases.

No soldiers were hurt, the IDF said.

As the protest dispersed, the military said it carried out a dronezap against a Hamas observation post near the border. No injuries were immediately reported.

The terror group, which rules the territory, appears to have resumed regular provocations along the frontier. The strike was seen as a warning to Hamas.

Footage from the rioting showed tires set on fire along the Israeli security barrier, and troops responding with tear gas.

The Hamas-run health ministry in the Gaza Strip said nine Paleostinians were maimed by Israeli fire and crowd dispersal means. According to Paleostinian media, among the injured was a photojournalist who was hit in the hand by a tear gas canister.

Turkish drone kills two female fighters in Syria’s Manbij: Local council
[Rudaw] Two members of an all-woman force in the northern Syrian city of Manbij were killed by a Ottoman Turkish dronezap on Friday, a Kurdish-led military council said.

A Ottoman Turkish drone hit a vehicle near Manbij, killing two members of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and injuring two other people who were in the car, including one man, said the Manbij Military Council, which is affiliated with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

It was initially reported that three YPJ fighters were killed.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
has not immediately commented on the drone attack.

The YPJ is the all-women wing of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) - the backbone of the SDF.

Turkey and its Syrian mercenaries have stepped up their attacks against Kurdish-led forces in Syria. Kurds have accused Turkey of taking advantage of recent festivities between some Arab tribes and the SDF in the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor, using it as an opportunity to attack Kurdish-led forces in Manbij and other areas. Manbij is located at a key crossroad in northern Syria.

Turkey considers the YPG to be the Syrian offshoot of the Kurdistan Peoples’ Party (PKK) - an gang struggling for increased rights of Kurds in Turkey but listed as a terrorist organization by Ankara. Turkey has carried out three military operations against the Kurdish forces in northern Syria since 2016, invading key towns near the border such as Afrin, Sari Kani (Ras al-Ain) and Gire Spi (Tal Abyad).
