Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief October 4, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • PAKISTAN’S DEADLINE FOR EXPULSION OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS SET – Islamabad has announced an amnesty period for undocumented immigrants to depart Pakistan that will expire on 1 November 2023. Those desiring to leave the country prior to this date will be granted passage to their country of origin and will avoid penalties/fines. After 1 November, the Government intends to embark on a round of mass deportations. Multiple NGOs have already requested Islamabad to rethink this strategy but the regime has not shown any inclination to reverse its policy as of yet.

  • RECENT HACK OF GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF INTELLIGENCE CONTINUES TO BEAR FRUIT – As promised, additional leaked documents from the reported hack of the Taliban’s intelligence outfit have been shared to select social media platforms. Analysts queried about the authenticity of the documents shared to date have unanimously attributed them to Taliban offices. Those interested in perusing the documents can do so by following the X (formerly Twitter) handle of @TalibLeaks.

  • HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH RECOMMENDS THAT AFGHAN WOMEN BE INVITED TO FUTURE MEETINGS AND CONFERENCES ABOUT AFGHANISTAN – The leader of the Women’s Rights Division at the international NGO has called on world leaders to include Afghan women in any future conferences or meetings on the future of the country. HRW exhibited a letter signed by 19 international organizations that had been sent to the UN Security Council requesting action be taken to include Afghan women in the upcoming open debate.

  • TALIBAN CONFIRM THAT 4 AFGHAN NATIONALS WHO WERE DETAINED BY PAKISTANI POLICE HAVE DIED WHILE BEING HELD – The Taliban’s diplomatic post in Islamabad issued a statement yesterday that confirmed at least 4 Afghan citizens had died while being detained after the roundups began fourteen days ago. The Embassy also confirmed that nearly 1,000 Afghans had been detained during this period and alleged that nearly half had legal and rightful documentation allowing them to reside in Pakistan. In follow-up reporting from AMU TV, a source reported that at least 5 bodies of Afghan nationals had been discovered recently and that the circumstances surrounding their deaths were ‘mysterious’.

[8am] Unknown assailants have reportedly shot and killed a local Taliban

province, according to local sources. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 30, in the village of Spina in the Omna district.

The victim, identified as Mullah Khalid, served as a commander in the Taliban’s security forces in the Omna district. He was attacked by armed individuals while en route to his home, as stated by the sources.

As of now, the Taliban has not released any statements regarding the incident, and no group has grabbed credit for the killing of the local Taliban commander.

It is worth mentioning that a Taliban military base in the Gomal district of Paktika province was recently targeted in an armed attack as well. However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
the "National Islamic and Freedom Movement of Afghanistan" grabbed credit for that attack. According to their statement, at least four Taliban fighters were killed as a result of the assault.

fighters on a disabled former police officer from the Ministry of Interior of the previous government in the province.

According to witnesses interviewed by Hasht-e Subh, the victim, identified as Abdul Aleem, was assaulted by Taliban fighters riding cycle of violences in front of his home gate in the village of Jalal-Zai, Jani Khel district, on Monday, October 2nd.

Abdul Aleem, who had lost his vision in both eyes due to a kaboom, had already suffered immense tragedy. He had lost at least 12 family members, all of whom were former members of the previous government’s forces, in festivities with the Taliban.

Sources further reveal that most of Abdul Aleem’s surviving family members fled to Iran

Taliban Vice Ministry: Nearly 200 Jadogar (Sorcerers, Witches) Detained
[ToloNews] The Ministry of Vice and Virtue said that nearly 200 Jadogar (sorcerers, witches) have been detained across the country.
Do they float?
A front man for the Ministry of Vice and Virtue, said that those who conduct Jado (Magic, Sorcery), will be introduced to the judicial departments.

"The number of Jadogar detained in the provinces is more than 100. In Kabul, their number has reached 67 yet. Some of them are women who have been detained and introduced to the judicial system," said Akif Mahajar, a front man for the Ministry of Vice and Virtue.

Abdul Hai Faizani, a religious holy man, told TOLOnews that sorcery is forbidden in Islam.

"I want the people to not commit such actions which are against Sharia and to not trust the sorcerers," he said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Don Calamari's lawyer was getting even redder in the face...
the citizens also called on the government to prevent sorcery in the country.

"The Jadogar wants to take money from the people through their activities. The people should not trust them," said Subhanullah, a resident of Kabul.

"The officials of the interim government should detain the Jadogar and bring them to justice. There should be a hard punishment considered for them so the others can listen to it," said Rahmatullah, a resident of Kabul.

Al-Shabaab fighters die while planting IED in Kenya
[Garowe] Two al-Shabaab
...... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
hard boyz died on Tuesday while planting Improvised Explosive Devices [IEDs] in Kenya on Tuesday, security teams in Northeastern Kenya confirmed, in yet an attempt to derail operations against their activities on Kenyan soil which is proving rather futile.

According to the reports, the two were assembling and planting the IEDs at Amuma area in the Northeastern part of the East African nation, before they went kaboom!, killing them instantly. Security officers were stationed within the vicinity and thus were the targets.

For the last few months, security sources say, cases of IEDs have significantly reduced thanks to the security mobilization in the region which has borne fruits. The security teams have also been blocking the hard boyz from carrying out attacks.

The explosion comes a few weeks after Kenya started deploying elite Special Forces from the Kenya Defense Forces [KDF] to Wajir, Mandera, Garissa and Lamu counties, where al-Shabaab had heightened IED attacks. For the better part of last week, most of these troops reported.

The government security agencies have also been wooing locals to embrace the sharing of intelligence with security teams to combat al-Shabaab raids. The KDF team has constructed several Forward Operating Bases along the border which would be hosting most troops in the troubled border.

Sudan lawyers accuse RSF of besieging Tuti Island
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
ese lawyers on Monday accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of imposing a siege on Tuti Island in Khartoum, restricting the movement of people and consumer goods, and worsening the health and living conditions of the population.

Since April 15, 2023, Sudan has been suffering from fighting between the army and the RSF that began in Khartoum and expanded to include large areas in Darfur and Kordofan. The fighting has caused a humanitarian crisis, with millions of people displaced internally and externally.

A statement issued by Emergency Lawyers, a legal group that monitors violations during the war, said: "The Rapid Support Forces have been besieging Tuti Island since the first days of the war. They have closed the bridge, the only land route linking the island to the capital, and are restricting the movement of people, consumer goods, and life-saving medicines. They have also prevented river transport by boat, leading to starvation and the deaths of some people due to lack of healthcare, medicine, and food."

The statement revealed that several complaints have been filed alleging the deaths of three civilians due to lack of treatment, including a girl with diabetes who died due to lack of insulin.

Tuti Island is located at the confluence of the White Nile and Blue Nile rivers and is surrounded by the three cities of Khartoum, Omdurman, and Bahri.

The statement also discussed the suffering caused by a two-month power outage and water outages, forcing people to drink directly from wells and the Nile, leading to malaria and diarrhoea.

It explained that the siege imposed on civilians on the island is considered a serious violation of international humanitarian law by starving citizens and forcibly displacing them.

Tunisia: President Kais Saied rejects EU financial aid on immigration
[AFRICANEWS] Tunisia's President, Kais Saied, said on Monday evening that his country was refusing to accept the funds allocated by the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
to Tunisia, which he described as "charity", and whose "derisory" amount would run counter to the agreement concluded in July between the two parties.

On September 22, the European Commission announced that it would begin "rapidly" allocating the funds provided for under the agreement with Tunisia, in order to reduce the number of migrants colonists arriving from that country.

The Commission specified that some 42 million euros of the 105 million euros in aid provided for under this agreement to combat irregular immigration would be "rapidly allocated". A further 24.7 million euros had already been earmarked for ongoing programs.

"Tunisia, which accepts cooperation, does not accept anything resembling charity or favor, because our country and our people do not want sympathy and do not accept it when it is without respect," he said, according to a blurb from the presidency.

"Consequently, Tunisia refuses what has been announced in recent days by the EU", said Mr. Saied, who was receiving his Foreign Minister, Nabil Ammar.

He explained that this refusal was "not because of the derisory amount (...) but because this proposal goes against" the agreement signed in Tunis and "the spirit that prevailed at the Rome conference" in July.

Niger: 29 soldiers killed in an attack
[AFRICANEWS] Niger is in mourning on Tuesday after the death of 29 soldiers in a jihadist attack, at a time when the military regime agreed to examine an offer of mediation from Algeria for a "political solution" to the crisis.

The attack "combining the use of improvised bombs and kamikaze vehicles by more than a hundred terrorists" targeted a detachment of security forces, in Tabatol near the border with Mali, indicates a blurb from the ministry. of the defence.

"The provisional assessment of this attack is as follows: on the friendly side, 29 soldiers fell as heroes, two were seriously injured", continues the text which specifies that "several dozen terrorists" were killed. A three-day national mourning was declared.

Niger continues to face recurring jihadist violence.

This is the heaviest corpse count since the military came to power, who justified their July 26 coup in particular by the deterioration of the security situation. In mid-August, 17 soldiers were killed in an attack near the border with Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president used to be Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and was chased out in 2014. Now it's the usual army officer type guy, Captain Ibrahim Traore, running things, who's just doing a bang-up job...
.

Monday afternoon, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that it had received from Niamey "acceptance of Algerian mediation aimed at promoting a political solution to the Niger crisis".

Niamey acknowledged having "expressed the availability of the Nigerien authorities to examine Algeria's offer of mediation", indicated a blurb from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

But the military reiterated that they intended to remain in control of the timetable, affirming that the duration of the transition to civilian rule would be set by an "inclusive national forum" in Niger, and not by any mediator.

If Algeria, Niger's influential neighbour, did not mention a transition period in its blurb on Monday, it had proposed at the end of August a period of six months under the supervision of a " civil authority led by a consensual and accepted by all sides of the political class.

On August 19, Niger's new strongman, General Abdourahamane Tiani, said he wanted a transition of three years maximum. And on Saturday evening, in an interview on national television, he affirmed that the regime had "no right to spend five years in power".

Since he was tossed by the military in July, elected president Mohammed Bazoum has been sequestered in his residence with his wife and son. On Monday, his lawyers announced the filing of a complaint in Niamey against the perpetrators.

This complaint, with the constitution of a civil party, consulted Monday by AFP, targets General Tiani and "all others", for "attack and conspiracy against the authority of the State, crimes and offenses committed by civil servants and arrests and arbitrary confinements".

The complaint, on behalf of Mr. Bazoum, his wife and two of their children, should be filed "in the coming days", with the dean of the investigating judges of the Niamey high court, according to one of the lawyers interviewed by AFP, Dominique Inchauspé.

Mr. Bazoum also referred the matter to the working group on arbitrary detention and the Human Rights Committee, two bodies of the UN Human Rights Council, these lawyers said.

On September 18, he appealed to the Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), denouncing in particular his "arbitrary arrest".

On Monday, an international collective of lawyers, including the American lawyer specializing in human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
Reed Brody, the former president of Niger Moussa Coulibaly and Mohammed Seydou Diagne of the Dakar bar, called for "the immediate release" of Mr. .Bazoum.

The deposed president and his family "were never presented to a magistrate and were not informed of the existence of any procedure against them", declared the collective in a blurb.

In mid-August, the perpetrators of the putsch for their part announced their intention to prosecute Mohammed Bazoum for "high treason" and "endangering the security" of the country.

29 soldiers killed in attack by suspected jihadists in Niger
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] An attack by suspected jihadists left twenty-nine soldiers dead in Niger. The AFP agency reported this on October 2, citing the country's Ministry of Defense.

It is clarified that from September 26 to October 2, Niger's defense and security forces conducted an operation on the border with Mali. While retreating northeast of the village of Tabatol, one of the units was attacked by terrorists who used improvised explosive devices and car bombs. It is noted that there were about a hundred attackers.

“According to preliminary data, on our side, 29 military personnel died as heroes, two were seriously injured. “Several dozen terrorists were neutralized from the enemy, 15 motorcycles were destroyed, and a large number of weapons and ammunition were captured,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

In Niger, on July 26, a group of military members of the presidential guard carried out a coup d'état and announced the removal of President Mohamed Bazoum . On August 30, the new Niger authorities demanded that Paris withdraw its troops from the territory of the republic by September 3.

Earlier, IA Regnum reported that, as French President Emmanuel Macron said, France will withdraw its troops from Niger by the end of 2023, where the military came to power as a result of the rebellion. Macron explained that this decision was dictated by the fact that the Niger authorities allegedly no longer want to fight terrorism.

At the same time, on September 24, the Niger government closed the country's airspace to all French aircraft, including civil flights. At the same time, Paris announced the recall of its ambassador Sylvain Itte and other diplomats from Niamey.

[RemixNews] 14-year-old Swedish girl hung her Middle Eastern rapist: report

A 26-year-old taxi driver of Middle Eastern origin who had been charged with raping a 14-year-old Swedish girl was found hanged in a nature reserve. The girl, her boyfriend and three brothers are now suspected of the murder, which the prosecutor said “took on the character of an execution,” according to the Swedish newspaper Fria Tider.

Events began in February this year, when the then 14-year-old girl reported that she had been raped by a taxi driver.

On March 26, the man’s taxi was found abandoned with the meter running in a car park in the Hjälstaviken nature reserve in Enköping, north of Stockholm.

On April 1, the taxi driver was found hanging 500 meters from the car. Police quickly turned their attention to the newly accused group of teens. The youths all deny the crime, except the girl, who admitted that she had lured the man to the secluded location.

According to the indictment, the girl lured the taxi driver to the scene of the murder on March 24 and kept him there until the four boys arrived. The boys had previously purchased ropes, masks and clothes, which they used as aids in the murder.

According to the prosecution, the procedure was a “torture death” for the taxi driver, and the prosecutor said the murder had the “character of an execution.”

Police found plans for revenge on the taxi driver the day before the murder on the raped girl’s phone, where she mentioned that her boyfriend’s brothers were meeting the rapist.

“They will meet my rapist. HAHAHAHA,” the girl wrote.

The night before the murder, the girl sent a message to the taxi driver, asking him to bring vodka and meet her in the deserted place. According to the indictment, the rapist was hung the same day.

After the murder, the girl took a picture of her boyfriend and later sent a message to an acquaintance that her rapist had died.

India-Pakistan
Two Army soldiers wounded in ongoing encounter in J&K’s Rajouri
[GreaterKashmir] Two army soldiers were maimed in an ongoing encounter with murderous Moslems in the forested regions of Soom and Broh villages in Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
's Rajouri district, officials said today.

The encounter began late in the evening on Monday when a search team of security forces established contact with murderous Moslems during an anti-terror operation. The operation was initiated on Monday morning in response to reports of suspicious movements in the area.

Broh and Soom villages are situated in the hinterland of Rajouri district and fall under the jurisdiction of the Kalakote cop shoppe.

Officials have reported that joint teams comprising the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir police, and CRPF had cordoned off the area on Monday morning, conducting extensive searches due to suspicions of terrorist presence. The search operation persisted throughout the day, with sporadic instances of "speculative firing".

In the late hours of Monday evening, murderous Moslems reportedly opened fire on the search teams from within the forest, provoking a retaliatory response that led to an exchange of gunfire.

The intense shootout continued into the intervening night between Monday and Tuesday, resulting in injuries to two army personnel. Both injured soldiers have been evacuated to the army hospital in Rajouri, with their conditions reported as stable.

As of the latest reports, the encounter in the area remains ongoing.

Forces gun down 10 terrorists involved in killing civilians in Tank
[GEO.TV] Security forces bumped off 10 turbans in the Pezu area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Tank district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Tuesday.

The bad boyz were potted when the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on the "reported presence of terrorists", the military's media wing mentioned in a statement.

Whilst the operation was underway, an intense exchange of fire took place between the Pak troops and the turbans, and resultantly, "ten turbans were sent to hell".

"These turbans remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces as well as extortion [and] killing of innocent civilians," the ISPR said.

Following the successful operation, the security forces recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives from the dead turbans.

In response, locals of the area appreciated the operation, the ISPR said, noting that the "security forces of Pakistain are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country".

With a spike in terror activities since Tehrik-e-Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Pakistain (TTP) announced an end to a ceasefire with Pakistain last year in November, the forces have ramped up operations against turbans.

Pak authorities have blamed Afghanistan for allowing hard boyz to use its soil, with interim Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti saying that 14 of 24 suicide kabooms in the country this year were carried out by Afghan nationals.

The government, as a result of these activities, has ordered all illegal immigrants colonists, including 1.73 million Afghan nationals, to leave the country or face expulsion.

According to a statistical report released by the independent think tank Pakistain Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), at least 271 turban attacks took place during the first half of 2023, resulting in the loss of 389 lives and injuring 656 individuals.

Terror activities in the country soared by 79% during the period.

Iraq
Al-Anbar police disrupt network promoting banned Baath party
[Shafaq News] The Anbar Governorate Police Command announced on Tuesday that it has successfully dismantled a network dedicated to glorifying the Arab Socialist Baath Party, which is banned in Iraq, through various social media platforms.

In a statement, the police leadership explained, "Through vigilant monitoring, intelligence gathering, and intensified efforts, we have uncovered a network of individuals attempting to disrupt the security of the province and promote acts of sabotage through social media by sharing images and slogans associated with the now-deceased Baath regime."

The statement further elaborated that members of this network were "inciting young people to gather in public spaces to disturb the peace and compromise the security of the governorate, taking advantage of the celebration of the country's National Day."

The police emphasized that "ongoing efforts and vigilance are in place to apprehend all those involved and their collaborators, and to deal with anyone who attempts to disrupt or harm the security of Anbar Governorate."

Notably, the Baath Party in Iraq was officially banned in 2003 following the American invasion of Iraq.

[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
arrested close to 90 suspected Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members in operations launched in 18 provinces, state media reported on Tuesday, two days after the group grabbed credit for an attack on the general security directorate in capital Ankara.

Ottoman Turkish state media reported that Ankara has been monitoring PKK’s military intelligence structure in the Kurdistan Region, northern Syria, and within Turkey for 10 months before launching the coordinated operations that led to the arrest of close to 90 suspected members of the group.

The operations were carried out by the Ottoman Turkish intelligence, security units, and gendarmerie, Ottoman Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Yerlikaya said that 13,440 members of the Ottoman Turkish forces participated in 466 operations across 18 provinces.

The operations came two days after two coppers were lightly maimed in an attack on Ankara’s general security directorate. One of the attackers went kaboom! while the other was "neutralized," according to the Ottoman Turkish interior minister.

The PKK grabbed credit for the attack near the Ottoman Turkish parliament and ministerial buildings in Ankara. The main boulevard near the entrance of the parliament building was closed to traffic due to the earth-shattering kaboom.

Iranian teen in a coma after run-in with morality police on metro, says right group
[IsraelTimes] An Iranian girl aged 16 has been left in a coma and is being treated in hospital under heavy security after an assault on the Tehran subway, a rights group says.

The Kurdish-focused rights group Hengaw says the teenager, named as Armita Garawand, has been badly injured in a run-in on the Tehran metro with female morality coppers.

This has already been denied by the Iranian authorities who say that the girl "fainted" due to low blood pressure and that there was no involvement of the security forces.

Iranian authorities remain on high alert for any upsurge of social tension just over a year after the death in jug of Mahsa Amini who had been arrested for allegedly violating the strict dress rules for women.

Hengaw says Garawand was left with severe injuries after being apprehended by agents of the so-called morality police at the Shohada metro station in Tehran on Sunday. It says she is being treated under tight security at Tehran’s Fajr hospital and "there are currently no visits allowed for the victim, not even from her family."
