The RSF launched a large-scale military operation in al-Jazeera State on December 15, and their forces have advanced to within 15 kilometres of the state headquarters. On Sunday the army said they repulsed the attack but the paramilitary forces attacked again on Monday morning.

In a statement, an RSF spokesperson declared, "Our forces have successfully captured the 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division headquarters in Wad Madani, along with the Central Reserve Camp and the entrance to the Hantoub Bridge from the east."

However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
photos released by the RSF show they captured a training centre of the Sudanese army but not the premises of the 1st Division in Wed Madani.

The statement further asserted that the RSF had downed a civilian MiG military aircraft.

Video footage released by the RSF showed their troops patrolling inside the military headquarters in the eastern part of the town.

According to eyewitnesses, the festivities erupted early Monday morning after the RSF reinforced their presence in eastern Madani with a large contingent of troops and armoured vehicles.

South African paramedic Gerco van Deventer, hostage in the Sahel since 2017, freed
[AFRICANEWS] South African Gerco van Deventer who was kidnapped in Libya in November 2017 is now free. NGO Gift of the Givers made the announcement on Sunday (Dec. 17).

The longest held South African hostage in captivity was sold to al-Qaeda in Mali in 2018 after his abduction.

In a lengthy news release, the organization detailed the process that led to the unconditional liberation of the forty-seven-year-old paramedic who is reportedly in Algeria.

Gift of the Givers said that at the request of the van Deventer's family, the organization "got involved in 2018, contacted JNIM (Jama'at Nasr al-Islam wal Moslemin)".
JNIM is the local branch of al-Qaeda in the Sahel, a subset of Al Qaeda in North Africa.
The initial request for Gerco's release "was 3 million USD, and over a period of time we negotiated the amount down to 500k USD," the NGO writes.

"The family could not afford the ransom, there was no benefactor, the company that Gerco had just commenced work for could not assist."

Negotiations stalled and eventually with Covid-19 went cold completely until January 2023.

In Ramadan, the month of fasting for Moslems, of this year, Gift of the Givers "requested unconditional, ransom free release" of the paramedic.

"Letters from religious leaders were forwarded to support [their] request."

"Then came the Morocco Earthquake, we offered assistance, but it was not required, however, it drew a response from the captors who have links with Morocco, and through the intermediaries we received an indirect message of appreciation. We used that moment to request unconditional release once again. Then with our intervention in Gazoo

"On 5 December we received a call from someone in Mauritania who said they are working on the release" and eventually on December 26, one of the group's "very trusted intermediaries" told them "that Gerco had been released into Algeria."

The organization Gift of the Givers says no ransom was paid.

[Politico] The Pentagon has in recent days moved the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group from the Persian Gulf into the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Yemen, to support a potential U.S. response to attacks, said one of the officials, both of whom were granted anonymity to speak about sensitive plans. The military has also provided options to commanders to strike the Houthis, the official said.

The Biden administration has been reluctant to respond militarily against the Houthi attacks on commercial shipping in recent weeks for fear of provoking Iran, which backs Hamas and Hezbollah in Yemen as well as the Houthis. Previously, the Pentagon had recommended the administration not do so.

UAE seeks military action against Yemen’s Houthis
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

... hitting a major roadblock because of disagreements among Washington’s Arab allies, Bloomberg reports.

Two of the most crucial actors involved in Yemen’s long-running civil war, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, support competing factions against the Houthis and favor differing ways of dealing with them.

The UAE is pushing for military action and wants the US to re-designate the Houthis as “terrorists,” according to a Yemeni official backed by Abu Dhabi.

Riyadh, in contrast, supports a more measured approach, fearing that any belligerence will provoke the Houthis to become even more aggressive, according to a member of the Saudi team negotiating with Houthis.

That could imperil a fragile truce in Yemen’s war and scupper Saudi Arabia’s attempt to reach a permanent cease-fire deal with the rebels, the person said.

in the Red Sea, the United States has announced the formation of a 10-nation alliance aimed at safeguarding ships traveling this vital maritime route.

Joining forces with Britannia, La Belle France, Bahrain, Italia, and others, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin highlighted the need for unified action against the non-state actors posing a threat to the freedom of navigation principle.

The Houthis have intensified their attacks on various vessels in the Red Sea, endangering a critical passageway that caters to nearly 12 percent of global trade. This surge in hostile activities has propelled concerns and necessitated a collaborative security approach.

Secretary Austin articulated that the coalition's primary objective revolves around ensuring unhindered navigation for all nations while fortifying regional security and prosperity. This multinational effort enlists the participation of the United States, United Kingdom, Bahrain, Canada, La Belle France, Italia, Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, and Spain.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
amidst these developments, the recent incident involving the Swan Atlantic, owned by Norway's Inventor Chemical Tankers, unveiled the complexities of the situation. The ship, carrying biofuel feedstock from La Belle France to Reunion Island, had no affiliation with Israel and was managed by a Singaporean entity. Fortunately, the Indian crew remained unharmed, and the vessel sustained minimal damage.

The repercussions of these attacks have reverberated across the global maritime industry. Major entities like British oil giant BP and Taiwan's Evergreen have suspended their Red Sea transits and Israeli cargo shipments, respectively. Additionally, Frontline, a prominent tanker company, declared rerouting ships and strict scrutiny over new business, opting for the longer and fuel-intensive South Africa's Cape of Good Hope route.

US announces the start of an operation in the Red Sea after Houthi attacks on ships
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Will be held in the Red Sea Operation Guardian of Prosperity following Houthi attacks on merchant ships. This was announced by Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin.

According to him, the operation will take place under the auspices of the United Maritime Forces. Its goal is to ensure safe navigation in the Red Sea after “reckless attacks by the Houthis from Yemen,” the US Secretary of Defense added.

“The operation will bring together several countries, including the UK, Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles and Spain, to jointly address security challenges in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden to ensure freedom shipping for all countries and strengthening regional security,” Austin said.

The recent Houthi attacks require a “collective response,” which is why Operation Prosperity Guardian will be launched, the Pentagon chief concluded.

As reported by IA Regnum, in early December, in the Red Sea, the Houthis attacked the American warship USS Carney with missiles and drones. According to the UK-based maritime security company Ambrey,a bulk carrier was damaged in a drone strike near the northern Yemeni port of Hodeidah.

Off the coast of Yemen on December 14Houthis attacked a container ship of the Danish company Maersk in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, heading to Israel.

The United States announced its intention to convene a coalition due to the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea. It is expected that this will help respond to emerging threats.

Gaza hospital chief admits to being Hamas commander, using clinic as military base
]NYPost] Convenient, that
The head of a Gaza hospital has admitted to being a senior Hamas commander — and detailed how the terror group transformed the medical site into an operational hub that once housed a kidnapped Israeli soldier.

Ahmad Kahlot, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabaliya, made his taped confession to the Israeli security service Shin Bet after his arrest during last week’s raid on the facility in northern Gaza.

In a video of his interrogation released on X on Tuesday, Kahlot, dressed in an Israeli jail uniform and seated in front of Israel’s flag, said he joined Hamas in 2010 and held a rank equivalent to a brigadier general.

Kahlot revealed that about 16 hospital staffers, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and clerks, were also members of Hamas’ notorious military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

According to the hospital chief, the medical facility under his care had been turned into an elaborate military hub where up to 100 Hamas terrorists had been holed up for days before moving to a different location.

Some of the group’s leaders even had offices with private phone lines inside the hospital, Kahlot said.

"There is a designated space for interrogations, internal security and special security," he revealed.

Asked by the Shin Bet interrogator why Hamas’ top brass chose the hospital as its bolthole, Kahlot said, "Because from their perspective, the hospital is a safe place. They won’t be harmed inside the hospital."

Kahlot also revealed that Hamas had once brought a kidnapped Israeli soldier to the hospital and used its own private ambulance service to transport the bodies of hostages tied to its Oct. 7 massacre. He did not name the soldier or say what happened to him later.

But the Hamas chief had some choice words for other leaders of his terror organization — blasting them as "cowards.

"They left us out in the open while they have gone into hiding," he said. "The people are the ones who got screwed.

"They sacrificed us, unfortunately," the hospital director added in a dejected tone of other bosses.

Health Ministry says at least 110 Paleostinians have been killed since the previous day in Israeli strikes on a northern part of the Strip.

In a brief statement, the ministry said "there were 50 deaders in occupation strikes on houses in Jabaliya," bringing to 110 the number of deaths in the area since Sunday.

The numbers cannot be confirmed or verified. Jabaliya has been the scene of some of the heaviest fighting in recent days.

Israel has long asked civilians to leave the area, where Hamas has a stronghold.

Gaza documents from 2015 identifying Israeli officers reportedly found by troops
[IsraelTimes] A trove of secret documents reportedly seized by Israeli troops in the Gazook city of Khan Younis points to evidence that Paleostinian Lions of Islam were studying the identities of senior Israeli officers some eight years ago, even as the Strip struggled to recover from a devastating war the year before.

Channel 13 news airs pictures of some of the documents, which are marked "restricted" and date from 2015, according to the report. The papers include pictures purporting to show military and intelligence officers members of the Israel Defense Forces general staff, as well as then-army chief Gadi Eisenkot and then-defense minister Avigdor Liberman.

Other papers contain information about the IDF’s organizational structure.

leader, Yahya Sinwar. Troops also raided an outpost belonging to the terror group’s Deir al-Balah battalion, seizing intelligence materials.

Israel fought a major war against Hamas in 2014 during which Hamas-led Lions of Islam carried out several small-scale infiltrations into Israel via tunnels dug beneath the Gaza border. A short time after the war, the army said there was evidence that Hamas had been planning a much larger incursion via the tunnels, on a scale that may have rivaled October 7 attacks.

West Bank: Woman maimed when car shot Monday, knife stabbing Paleo tied up Sunday
Woman reported wounded in West Bank shooting attack

[IsraelTimes] A woman has been injured in a shooting attack in the West Bank, officials and medics say.

The Binyamin local council says shots were fired at two Israeli vehicles near the Ateret Binyamin settlement. It says the attackers fled toward Ramallah.

The Magen David Adom rescue service says its medics are treating a woman injured with a gunshot wound who managed to reach Jerusalem. It says the woman is conscious.
Magen David Adom medics say that a man and a six-week-old baby were also in the vehicle hit by gunfire in a West Bank shooting attack, but were unharmed.

A 27-year-old woman was wounded in the terror attack and taken to hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound, MDA says.
The IDF says it has launched a manhunt for the Palestinian terrorist who opened fire at an Israeli vehicle in the West Bank earlier, wounding a young woman.

The attack was carried out near the Palestinian city of Rawabi and Israeli settlement of Ateret.

Security video shows West Bank stabbing attack in which reservist is moderately hurt

[IsraelTimes] The IDF says troops arrested the Palestinian suspect who stabbed and moderately wounded a reservist at a gas station near the West Bank’s Rantis checkpoint earlier.

According to the IDF, the assailant fled after the stabbing, and was detained a short while later by troops in the nearby town of Rantis.

The reservist was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Security camera footage from the gas station shows the reservist at the counter when the assailant runs up from behind and stabs him. The attacker then flees, with the soldier appearing to chase after him.
A man aged 49 was stabbed at a gas station near the West Bank’s Rantis checkpoint, medics say.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service says the man is fully conscious and is being treated at the scene..

The Rantis checkpoint is located near the West Bank town of the same name, east of the Israeli city of Elad.

On leave from war, reservists saves family in West Bank terror attack

"We passed through Atarot, and trucks were causing a traffic jam. Suddenly, my wife tells me, 'They're shooting at us,' Yishai, on leave from the fighting in Gaza said. "A car overtook us, pulled from the left, and someone with a long weapon shot at me. I returned fire from the driver's seat. My baby was in the back, my wife was covered in blood. I wanted to make sure I killed the terrorist but it was more crucial to safeguard my child's life in the car," he said

IDF solidifies hold in northern Gaza as Israel allows expanded aid into Strip
[IsraelTimes] Two more soldiers killed in fighting, bringing ground op corpse count to 129; military says forces are in control of Beit Hanoun, notching up achievements in Shejaiya

on Monday, as Israel allowed the expansion of the amount and types of humanitarian aid entering the Strip.

The military said it had taken full control of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza, arresting Hamas button men as its forces advanced in the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza City.

Two IDF soldiers were killed Monday fighting in Gaza, the military announced, bringing the toll of troops slain during its ground offensive against Hamas to 129.

The soldiers were named as Cpt. Yarin Gahali, 22, a platoon commander in the Givati Brigade’s reconnaissance unit, from Rehovot; and Cpt. (res.) Netanel Silberg, 33, a team commander in the Combat Engineering Corps’ Yahalom unit, from Na’ama.

Gahali was killed in southern Gaza, while Silberg was killed in the Strip’s north.

Earlier Monday, the IDF announced the deaths of five other soldiers.

The military said Monday that troops in its 252nd Reserve Division had completed operations against Hamas in the Beit Hanoun area of northern Gaza, and handed over responsibility of the region to the Gaza Division, indicating the military has firm control of that sector.

Soldiers eliminated "many terrorists" during the operation in the city, destroyed their weapons depots, rocket launchers, underground command centers, and "significant" tunnels," the IDF said, capturing all of the Beit Hanoun battalion’s main compounds and strongholds.

Soldiers also uncovered the Beit Hanoun battalion’s main tunnel in the area, which according to the IDF was located deep within civilian infrastructure, between the Beit Hanoun city hall, a mosque, a soccer court, and a daycare center.

Also Monday, the IDF announced that it had arrested a member of Hamas’s elite Nukhba forces and another terrorist who participated in the October 7 massacre in Israel, at a school in Gaza City’s Rimal neighborhood.

The pair, along with several other Hamas members, were captured during a raid on the school on Friday, during which troops of the 401st Armored Brigade killed "many" more operatives, according to the IDF. Those who were caught by the soldiers were questioned by the Military Intelligence Directorate’s Unit 504.

As intense fighting continued in both north and south Gaza, Israel has moved to boost humanitarian aid convoys into the Strip and also allow in commercial goods, the White House said Monday. Israel has downplayed such moves at home, where they are seen as largely unpopular, while seeming to acquiesce to pressure from the US and other countries to do so.

The IDF said Monday that it had killed some 600 Hamas operatives in the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza City in the past two weeks, as troops in its Golani Infantry Brigade engaged in "intense fighting" with the Hamas battalion based there.

The Golani troops have also located and destroyed more than 10 tunnel shafts in the neighborhood, the IDF said, and seized weapons and intelligence materials found in the homes of Hamas operatives and located and destroyed dozens of rocket launchers.

The commander of the Golani Brigade, Col. Yair Palai, said his forces "will do everything so that the residents of the [Israeli border communities] and the south can return to their homes, and so that Hamas does not rule Gaza anymore."

"This neighborhood was and still is an established stronghold of the Hamas terror organization, and this is a problem that needs to be uprooted," he added.

Also Monday, troops of Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion captured Paleostine Square in Shejaiya, and destroyed a Hamas monument there commemorating a deadly attack on an armored personnel carrier during the 2014 Gaza War.

"We are here, the 13th Battalion, at the place where the terrorist organization Hamas erected a statue glorifying the disaster that happened to the battalion in [Operation] Protective Edge. We are sending a clear message to Hamas: Wherever such a statue is erected, we will come and destroy it," said the new commander of the 13th Battalion, Lt. Col. Yuval Mazuz, in remarks provided by the IDF.

Mazuz replaced Lt. Col. Tomer Grinberg, who was killed in action last week.

In the 2014 war, seven Golani soldiers were killed when their APC was hit in fighting in Shejaiya. The remains of one of the seven, Sgt. Oron Shaul, were captured by Hamas and are still in its possession.

After the deadly incident, Hamas erected a monument of a large fist punching through an APC, holding three dog-tags, one of which has the name of Shaul.

The IDF said Golani’s 13th Battalion and troops of the 188th Armored Brigade captured the square — from which Hamas also paraded released hostages several weeks ago — and destroyed the monument.

On the home front, Israel worked toward returning life to normal, as Hamas rocket fire from the Strip has decreased dramatically in recent weeks. On Monday, the IDF Home Front Command announced that the southern coastal city of Ashkelon — which was heavily battered by rockets in the first months of the war — and the surrounding Lachish area can resume in-person schooling, work, and other activities.

Despite growing international pressure on Israel to agree to a ceasefire in Gaza, government and military officials have repeatedly stated that they intend to continue fighting until the operation’s goals are achieved, namely the elimination of Hamas and the return of all the hostages.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated on Monday in comments to Austin that Israel is committed to "achieve total victory against Hamas."

Israel accuses Hezbollah, Iran of cyber attack on northern Israel hospital

The Israel National Cyber Directorate accused on Monday Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. On Monday, nearly 70% of Iran's gas stations went out of service following possible cyberattacks. Israeli media blamed the problem on an attack by a hacker group dubbed "Gonjeshke Darande" or predatory sparrow, a group reportedly linked to Israel.

A past attack on Iranian gas stations claimed by the group was attributed to Israel by two unnamed US defense officials, according to The New York Times

Israeli army attacked the infrastructure of the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) struck the infrastructure of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah in Lebanon. The IDF press service reported this on December 18 on the Telegram channel by IA Regnum.

“An IDF fighter struck the Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in Lebanon,”, the Israeli army said in a statement.

In addition, the IDF reported a strike on a Lebanese movement cell attempting to launch an anti-tank missile.

Earlier IA Regnum reported that The United States reprimanded Israel for the fact that the Israeli military has carried out over 30 attacks on the Lebanese army since the escalation of the Middle East conflict.

As explained in the United States, the target of some IDF attacks was Hezbollah targets, but it is difficult to say about the targets of others, since they could be a consequence of insufficient restraint on the part of the IDF.

The IDF press service announced on December 8 and 5 that the Israeli military had opened fire towards Lebanon in response to launches recorded from the Lebanese side. It was noted that the Israeli military also carried out strikes on several targets of the Hezbollah movement.
