Sudan's army accuses RSF of arson attack on landmark tower
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
ese army on Tuesday accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of setting fire to the Sahil and Sahara Tower, a prominent building in Khartoum.

"In line with its pattern of destroying public and private facilities and targeting civilian infrastructure, the terrorist Daglo militia set fire to the Sahil and Sahara bank tower in Khartoum yesterday, Monday, completely burning it down," the army front man said.

"The tower is one of the capital’s main landmarks and houses the headquarters of several private and public companies in addition to the Sahel and Sahara bank," he added.

The Sudanese army and paramilitary forces have been trading accusations of destroying the country’s infrastructure as they seek to prevent each other from gaining control of strategic positions.

However,

the RSF did not respond to these accusations as it has done in the past.

ese army and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), under the leadership of Abdelaziz al-Hilu, thwarted an offensive launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the city of Dilling in South Kordofan.

According to a military source in the second town of South Kordofan, "The army and SPLA-N forces repelled the third attack in four days on Dilling carried out by the RSF and their allied militias."

The official Sudanese government spokesperson issued a statement highlighting the joint forces’ valour in repelling the attack. US imposes sanctions against individuals linked to Houthi attacks in Red Sea
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
The United States has imposed new sanctions on individuals and entities linked to Yemen's Houthi attacks on commercial and other ships in the Red Sea, White House spokesman John Kirby said on Wednesday, January 10.

“We have introduced new sanctions against individuals and companies that facilitate Houthi attacks and are working with members of the UN Security Council to approve a resolution that will demonstrate international solidarity on this critical issue,” Kirby said.

At the same time, the White House representative did not specify any details about the sanctions restrictions. The US Treasury and State Departments, in turn, have not yet announced new sanctions.

As Regnum reported, on January 10, the representative of the Yemeni rebel movement Ansar Allah, Yahya Saria, on the Al Masirah TV channel, controlled by the Houthis, announced a strike on a US military ship in the Red Sea. According to him, the attack was carried out using drones and ballistic and anti-tank missiles.
Update from the Times of Israelat 12:45 p.m. ET:
US and UK forces have shot down 21 drones and missiles over the Red Sea launched by Yemen’s Houthis, in what London branded Wednesday the “largest attack” yet by the Iran-backed group.

The Western allies’ warships and planes took out 18 drones and three missiles in their latest Red Sea military intervention on Tuesday, the US military said.

HMS Diamond, a British destroyer, intervened with “her guns and Sea Viper missiles” after the drones were “heading for her and commercial shipping in the area,” UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the Houthis had launched “a complex attack of Iranian designed one-way attack UAVs,” as well as firing anti-ship cruise missiles and an anti-ship ballistic missile from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.

They were downed by a combination of F/A-18 warplanes, operating from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier, three American destroyers and the British naval vessel, CENTCOM said.

More than 20 Houthi missiles and drones shot down in the Red Sea
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
The US Navy intercepted a total of 24 missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles launched by the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) from Yemen, CNN reported, citing Pentagon officials.

According to their information, no one was injured as a result of the strike, and the ships were not damaged. CNN clarified that the Houthi attack was repelled by three American destroyers.

As Regnum reported, on January 3, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that several merchant ships in the southern Red Sea were attacked by the Houthis. The crews of these ships claim that ballistic missiles fell near them.

However, not a single vessel reported any damage. CENTCOM clarified that since November 19, at least 24 such incidents have occurred in the Red Sea.

Ansar Allah military spokesman Yahya Saria said that his organization attacked the Tage ship of the French carrier CMA CGM, which was heading to Palestine. He added that the crew of this ship refused to respond to warnings from the Yemeni Navy."

Reuters reported on January 4 that the cost of transporting cargo on container ships sailing from Asia to Europe has more than doubled due to Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

3 cops among 4 dead in late-night attack on police checkpost in Kohat
[Dawn] Three coppers were martyred while a citizen was killed in a late-night attack on Wednesday on a police checkpost near Lachi Toll Plaza on the Indus Highway in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohat district, officials said.

According to a statement released by Lachi Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Fazl Naeem, the martyred cops included Lance Naik Constable Amjad, Lance Naik Constable Junaid and Constable Waqar.

A resident of Lakki Marwat, Noor Muhammad, was killed as well, Naeem added. Kohat District Police Officer Farhan Khan also confirmed the number of casualties to Dawn.com.

PRO Naeem said that a heavy contingent of police reached the site of the incident upon receiving an alert. The area has been cordoned off and a search operation was under way to locate the miscreants, he said.

The incident comes just two days after a vehicle carrying police personnel on polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. Two Pakistan Army sepoys martyred in Lakki Marwat shootout
[GEO.TV] Two soldiers were martyred during a gun battle with terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Lakki Marwat district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Wednesday, in the latest terror strike on the military.

In a statement, the ISPR — army’s media wing — said that a “fire exchange took place between the security forces and terrorists” in the district, during which the Pakistan Army's security forces ”effectively engaged the terrorists' location”.

As a result of their exchange, two terrorists — identified as Aftab aka Malang and Masood Shah — were “sent to hell”, the statement mentioned.

“These terrorists remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as targeted killings of innocent civilians,” the ISPR added.

The security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives following the completion of the task.

However, during the intense exchange of fire, two brave soldiers — Sepoy Muhammad Afzal, 29, resident of district Bhimber, Azad Kashmir, and Sepoy Ibrar Hussain, 27, resident of district Mansehra — embraced martyrdom after fighting gallantly.

In response, a sanitisation operation is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area, the ISPR said.

“…the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the military’s media wing added.

Independent candidate shot dead in North Waziristan
[GEO.TV] An election hopeful — among two others — was rubbed out in North Wazoo after unknown assailants opened fire on them, local police officials said Wednesday.

The independent candidate, identified as Kaleemullah Khan, was eyeing to contest polls for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly's PK-104, the law enforcers informed Geo News.

Police said the incident occurred in the Tappi village of the district when Kaleemullah was busy with his election campaign. "He was injured in a kaboom recently as well," the law enforcers added.

In a separate incident, Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz's (PML-N) candidate for NA-258 Aslam Buledi sustained injuries during a firing incident in Turbat
...The turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) is a relatively large species of flatfish in the family Scophthalmidae. It is highly prized as a food fish. It is a valuable commercial species, acquired through aquaculture and trawling. Turbot are farmed in Bulgaria, Canada, France, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Turkey, Chile, Norway, and China. Turbot has a bright white flesh that retains this appearance when cooked. Like all flatfish, turbot yields four fillets with meatier topside portions that may be baked, poached, steamed, or pan-fried. It has been called The King of the Sea because of its exquisite flavor.

Turbat is a city in Pakistain located in southern Balochistan. It has nothing to do with the fish. Its primary industry appears to be murder. Don't go there, not even to visit

To recap, if it tastes good it's turbot. If you're being shot at, stabbed, choked, strangled, flung off a tall building, or piked it's Turbat, so get the hell out of there if you're not already dead. ...

He will later be moved to Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
for further treatment.

The deadly attacks on candidates come as the country gears up for the February 8 general elections, with much hope of ridding the nation of problems — such as political turmoil, terrorism, and economic ills.

Last week, former member of the National Assembly and National Democratic Movement (NDM) leader Mohsin Dawar's convoy came under a gun attack by bandidos Lions of Islam in the Tappi village.

Armed drone shot down over US military base in northern Iraq
[IsraelTimes] Defense systems shot down an armed drone today over Erbil airport in northern Iraq where US and other international forces are stationed, Iraqi Kurdistan’s counter-terrorism service says.

A statement from the service does not say if there are any casualties or damage to infrastructure as a result of the attack.

IDF says troops located tunnel in southern Gaza that was used to hold hostages

located a tunnel where hostages had been held by Hamas
...a regional Iranian catspaw,...
The military showed the tunnel to journalists who were escorted into a neighborhood near the ruins of destroyed homes and streets. A corrugated tin hut covered the tunnel’s entrance in a residential yard.

A makeshift ladder led to the narrow underground pathway, about 2.5 meters (8 feet) below. The tunnel was hot and humid, with walls lined with concrete and electrical wires. Farther inside was a bathroom, where the military said it found evidence that hostages had been there, including their DNA.

"Hostages were held here in this tunnel system," said Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the army’s chief front man.

Hagari offered no details on what exactly was found in the tunnel, nor did he say when the hostages were there or identify them. He did not say if they were known to be dead or alive.

"We are continuing to operate with determination, above and below ground in Khan Younis. The forces found a tunnel there, where hostages resided in difficult conditions under the ground," Hagari added in a later statement to the media.

Several hostages freed in a ceasefire deal in late November described being held inside tunnels, which Hamas has laid throughout the Gaza Strip and which Israel says have long been used to smuggle weapons and fighters throughout the enclave.

The tunnel was found in a part of the city that appears to have endured heavy fighting. The nearby residence was badly damaged. In another building, the walls were blasted out of several apartments. Large mounds of dirt surrounded the area, apparently from Israeli bulldozers searching for buried explosives. A tank was parked outside an empty school, where an Israeli flag was hung from the exterior walls. The sound of what appeared to be a drone buzzed overhead, and gunfire could be heard in the distance.

The military says Hamas is operating from inside the tunnels, and military officials have made the destruction of the tunnel system a top goal.

Brig. Gen. Dan Goldfus, commander of the IDF’s 98th Division, described the tunnels as posing "a 720-degree threat."

"It’s not 360, but it’s 720, underground and over ground," Goldfus said.

Israel also believes that Hamas leader Yehya Sinwar is hiding in a tunnel somewhere in Khan Younis.

The beleaguered city, Gaza’s second-largest, has become the focus of Israel’s campaign against Hamas in recent weeks. On Wednesday’s tour for journalists, no residents appeared to be in the area. Israel has ordered residents to evacuate portions of the city as it proceeds with the offensive.

The revelation of the tunnel came after the IDF said Wednesday that more than 150 Hamas targets were hit over the past day in Khan Younis and Gaza’s central Maghazi region, as troops continued to battle the ruling terror group in the Paleostinian enclave, over three months into the war triggered by Hamas’s murderous October 7 onslaught on southern Israel.

In Maghazi, the IDF said troops from the Golani Brigade directed Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s on numerous Hamas operatives and uncovered 15 tunnel shafts. During a raid on a Hamas site in the area, the IDF said the Golani soldiers found rocket launchers, rockets, drones and explosives.

In Khan Younis, the 98th Division directed airstrikes on more than 10 Hamas operatives in their area of operations, the IDF said.

Dozens more Hamas button men were killed by the 98th Division’s units over the past day, according to the military.

Also in Khan Younis, reservists of the Kiryati Brigade identified a Hamas gunman planting an bomb near a road used by troops. The soldiers called in an airstrike, killing him, the IDF said.

The IDF announced Tuesday that it was expanding ground operations in Khan Younis and its surrounding area, fighting Hamas deep within the southern Gaza city. Some 40 Hamas operatives were killed over the previous day, the army said, and troops uncovered "a wide range" of weapons and "significant" tunnel shafts.

Later Wednesday, the IDF said it had completed operations in southern Gaza’s Khuza’a, on the outskirts of Khan Younis, where troops of the 5th Reserve Brigade killed numerous Hamas button men and destroyed the terror group’s infrastructure in the area.

According to the IDF, the 5th Brigade demolished hundreds of Hamas sites in Khuza’a, including rocket launchers, observation posts, caches of weapons, around 40 tunnel shafts and major underground networks. It said much of the Hamas infrastructure in Khuza’a was hidden inside schools and other public buildings, much like in other areas.

Dozens of Hamas operatives were killed by troops of the 5th Brigade during the fighting in Khuza’a over the past two weeks.

In late December, the IDF announced an offensive on Khuza’a targeting Hamas holy warriors who attacked the Israeli border community of Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, where dozens of Israelis were killed and taken hostage.

The war in Gaza against Hamas has claimed the lives of 186 Israeli soldiers since Israel launched a ground operation in late October to eliminate the Strip’s Hamas rulers and free hostages kidnapped during the terror group’s October 7 rampage.

The latest fatality, announced Wednesday morning, was Sgt. First Class (res.) Elkana Newlander, 24, a combat medic in the 99th Division from the West Bank settlement of Efrat, who was killed fighting in the central Gaza Strip Tuesday. A reservist from the Yiftach Brigade was seriously maimed in the same battle.

Al Jazeera 'journalists' in Gaza were terrorists: IDF presents evidence
[Jpost] IDF Chief Spokesman Brig. Gen. Daniel Hagari on Wednesday night presented evidence to prove that two Gazook journalists killed by the IDF on Sunday were terrorists.
Unexpectedly. Actually, as we predicted, but anyway.
Regarding Hamza al-Dahdouh,
...previously in our archives as Hamza Wael Dahdouh...
the son of Al Jazeera's chief correspondent in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, Wael al-Dahdouh, Hagari said that Israeli forces had found Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
internal documents in their various command centers in Gaza proving he was part of their terror ranks.

The IDF presented a copy of the document in Arabic, which it said listed Hamza as a dual-hat terrorist-journalist for Islamic Jihad.
One of many. It’s the way the smart money bets in that part of the world.
The Jerusalem Post could not confirm what the document said, and there was no English translation, but the IDF said that it listed Hamza as working for the terror group's electric engineering unit.
Impressive, if terribly wasteful when he could have been designing better poo ponds.
Documents also said that Hamza had previously served as a terrorist battalion leader for the Zeitoun area of northern Gaza and that he was still currently responsible for firing Islamic Jihad rockets in that area.

IDF SAYS THERE ARE DOCUMENTS THAT LINK JOURNALIST TO HAMAS
Hagari said that similar documents were found by Israeli forces in Hamas
...one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,...
command centers linking the other journalist, Mustafa Thuraya, to Hamas.

He said the documents said that Thuraya was a deputy chief of a terror cell.

Further, Hagari said that both had been involved in activating drones which caused danger to Israeli forces and which led to the air strike against them.

On Sunday, Paleostinian media reported that the son of the head of Al Jazeera in Gaza was killed by the IDF along with a photographer. IDF responses until Wednesday night had alternated from somewhat defensive to suggesting the two were terrorists, but without offering much evidence.

Al Jazeera has denied the two were holy warriors and accused the IDF of illegally targeting Paleostinian journalists, but had not publicly responded to the latest more specific IDF allegations at press time.
In Sunday’s strike in Rafah, Hamza Wael Dahdouh, the son of Al Jazeera’s Gaza correspondent Wael Dahdouh, and Mustafa Thuria, a video stringer for AFP who was also working for the Qatar-based TV outlet, were both killed. A third journalist, Hazem Rajab, was seriously wounded, Al Jazeera said.
Mr. Rajab being the targetted drone operator, who creates content and is a photojournalist in his spare time. Giving us all three names — with two spellings — in one place. Woot! Also surviving the strike were photojournalist Amer Abu Amr and another journalist, Ahmed al-Bursh. Talk about clown cars!
Dahdouh, according to the IDF, was a member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad. It said documents recovered by troops in Gaza reveal he served in Islamic Jihad’s electronic engineering unit, and previously was a deputy commander in the Zeitoun Battalion’s rocket force.

The IDF attached a copy of the document showing Dahdouh was a member of Islamic Jihad’s electronic engineering unit.
Not electrical engineering? What’s the difference?
Thuria and Hamza Wael Dahdouh had been tasked with filming the aftermath of a strike on a house in Rafah and their car was hit while they were on their way back, AFP correspondents said.

The Committee to Protect Journalists says at least 79 Palestinian reporters, as well as four Israeli and three Lebanese reporters, have been killed since Hamas’s October 7 attack triggered the war in Gaza and an escalation in fighting along Israel’s border with Lebanon amid attacks by the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group.

Israel denies targeting journalists and says it makes every effort to avoid harming civilians, blaming the high death toll on the fact that Hamas fights in densely populated urban areas and embeds itself deliberately among civilians who are used as human shields.

The International Criminal Court confirmed Tuesday that it is investigating potential crimes against journalists since the outbreak of the war.

Media advocacy group Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said in November that it had filed a complaint with the Hague-based ICC alleging war crimes over the deaths of journalists trying to cover the conflict.

“The office of prosecutor Karim Khan has assured the organization that crimes against journalists are included in its investigation into Palestine,” the organization announced on Monday.

The court confirmed the statement, saying: “The ICC Office of the Prosecutor’s investigation into the situation in the State of Palestine concerns crimes committed within the Court’s jurisdiction since 13 June 2014.”

Israel has fiercely condemned that investigation, noting the significance of the timing of the investigation’s span. On June 12, 2014, Hamas terrorists kidnapped and murdered three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank. The investigation is set to focus on events beginning from the following day.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran declares it is behind seizure of 'US crude oil tanker' in the Gulf of Oman after five 'military men' boarded vessel amid mounting Middle East tensions after UK warship shot down Houthi rebel rockets
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Iran has claimed responsibility for the hijacking of an oil tanker by 'six military men' in the Gulf of Oman this morning that once was at the centre of a major crisis between Tehran and Washington.

The seizure of the tanker was carried out upon an Iranian judicial order, Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency said this afternoon, shortly after the vessel appeared to have changed course towards Iran.

Iran's state-run IRNA news agency later confirmed a tanker had been seized by Iran's navy.

The Marshall Islands-flagged tanker St Nikolas was boarded by armed intruders as it sailed close to the Omani city of Sohar, according to British maritime security firm Ambrey.

Its AIS tracking system was turned off as it headed in the direction of the Iranian port of Bandar-e-Jask, and security cameras were covered by the hijackers as they took control of the ship.

The vessel is manned by a crew of 19 including 18 Filipino nationals and one Greek national, the operator said, adding it was chartered by Turkish oil refiner Tupras.

Some 145,000 metric tonnes of oil are thought to be loaded on the ship which was heading to Aliaga in western Turkey, its operator Empire Navigation told Reuters, before it lost contact with the vessel.

Wiki Cite: "In May 1979, the United States gave the Marshall Islands independence by recognizing its constitution and president, Amata Kabua. Full sovereignty or self-government was achieved in a Compact of Free Association with the United States. Marshall Islands has been a member of the Pacific Community (PC) since 1983 and a United Nations member state since 1991.[7] Politically, the Marshall Islands is a parliamentary republic with an executive presidency in free association with the United States, with the U.S. providing defense, subsidies, and access to U.S.-based agencies such as the Federal Communications Commission and the United States Postal Service."
