US strike Houthi anti-ship missile aimed towards Gulf of Aden
[GEO.TV] US Central Command (Centcom) forces on Saturday struck a Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
anti-ship missile that was aimed into the Gulf of Aden and prepared to launch, the US military said, with the latest round of strikes coming hours after the United States struck three other Houthi anti-ship missiles.

"U.S. forces determined the missile presented a threat to merchant vessels and US Navy ships in the region, and subsequently struck and destroyed the missile in self-defense," the Centcom said in a statement on X.

The incident, the latest amid growing tensions in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden that have disrupted global trade and raised fears of supply bottlenecks, took place around 0400 Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
time (0100 GMT), the statement added.

Anti-Israel protest at Italy jewelry fair turns violent
[IsraelTimes] Protesters clashed with police in the Italian city of Vicenza on Saturday after a demonstration against the presence of Israeli exhibitors at an international jewelry fair.

Police used water cannon against demonstrators who fired smoke bombs and flares after violence erupted like lava from a volcano after a planned march by hundreds of people,

More than 1,300 exhibitors from almost 40 countries are showing at the Vicenzaoro fair, which opened on Friday and runs until Tuesday, according to organizers.

A spokesperson tells AFP the festivities took place several kilometers away and had no impact on the event, while declining to give information on the Israeli presence at the fair.
One wonders if that means the Joooos were sent home or just locked away far from foot traffic for their own safety.
Vicenza mayor Giacomo Possamai says there was "no justification" for the violence.
They’re Black Bloc, yer honourness. Violence is their raison d’être. The cause of the day is only an excuse.
"It also hurts the causes that it claims to support — it is a contradiction in terms to demonstrate for peace and a ceasefire through violence," he says in a statement posted on social media.

Hundreds call for intifada, hail Houthis at Columbia University anti-Israel protest
And to think that my grandmother was General Eisenhower’s housekeeper-in-residence when he was president of Columbia after the war. How times have changed.
[IsraelTimes] Marchers chant support for deadly uprising, Iran-backed group hitting Red Sea shipping; antisemitic sticker states: ‘Zionist donors and trustees, hands off our universities’
I guess they’re not going to be reinstated for complying with university policies anytime soon...
Hundreds rallied throughout Columbia University’s campus in New York on Friday, chanting anti-Israel slogans.
How many different ways can vicious idiots say, “Let’s kill all the Joooooos now!”
The protest was said to have been organized by Students for Justice in Palestine, which is supposed to have been suspended from campus for the rest of the academic year unless it complies with conditions set by Columbia.

Marchers chanted “there is only one solution, intifada revolution,” referring to deadly Palestinian uprisings that included terrorists carrying out deadly suicide attacks against Israelis.

Another chant repeated was, “Yemen, Yemen make us proud, turn another ship around” — a message in support of the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, which the US deems to be a terror organization and has been attacking Red Sea shipping in recent weeks.

Protesters also chanted, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” which critics say is a call for the removal of the state of Israel.

A sticker photographed on a university trashcan featured an antisemitic message: “Zionist donors and trustees, hands off our universities.”
No problem. We’ll keep our money and ourselves. You can have what’s left afterward.
It was unclear if all of the participants in the rally were students at Columbia University.

At least one rally was held inside a building, apparently without action taken by campus authorities or security.
Good men doing nothing...
Columbia University suspended its chapters of Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace in November, and said they could be reinstated in the spring semester if they show “a commitment to compliance with university policies.”

A university official said that the groups have not yet agreed to adhere to university rules that would allow their reinstatement. The official said administration staff had met with representatives from the groups to discuss steps toward ending the suspension.

The suspensions mean the groups cannot receive university funding or hold authorized events on campus.
They’re paid by various Progressive rich men, so they don’t need the university’s pittance. And clearly it doesn’t matter if they have permission, given they’re holding unauthorized events on campus anyway.
Columbia was a focal point for controversy in the weeks after October 7, amid dueling protests for and against Israel and the reported assault of an Israeli student.

But the campus has received less attention since the presidents of three other elite universities — Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology — gave testimony to Congress last month that drew the ire of Jewish and other critics. Those university presidents told lawmakers that calling for the genocide of Jews did not necessarily violate university policy, provoking a firestorm of controversy that preceded Penn’s and Harvard’s presidents stepping down.

Columbia’s president, Minouche Shafik, was invited to appear before Congress at the same hearing, but declined, citing a scheduling conflict. Shafik attended a United Nations climate change conference in Dubai that day.
A waste of time, but probably safer, careerwise, than what happened to the other three.
SJP, whose national umbrella celebrated Hamas’s October 7 massacre of 1,200 people in Israel, most of them civilians, and the kidnapping of 240 more to the Gaza Strip amid shocking acts of brutality and sexual assault, has been suspended at several schools, including Florida’s public universities, George Washington University and Brandeis University.

Ballistic Missiles May Have Been Used In Huge Strike On US Base In Iraq
[ZERO] Update(1355ET): Details have continued trickling out and are scant, but by all accounts the Saturday attack on Al-Asad airbase in Western Iraq, which houses US forces, was a big one. Reuters cites an official who said "the base was hit by ballistic missiles but he left open the possibility it was struck by rockets." This has led to some speculation that ballistic missiles could have been fired on the US outpost from Iranian territory.

But Reuters also notes, "Two security sources in Iraq and one government source said the base was hit by multiple rockets fired from inside Iraq." One regional analyst has gathered sources to detail the following...

CENTCOM says US coalition base in Iraq was targeted by Iran-backed militants
[GEO.TV] Iran-backed hard boyz launched ballistic missiles at a base hosting US forces in western Iraq, causing one Iraqi and possible American casualties, the US Central Command said Saturday.

The US Central Command said Saturday that Iran-backed hard boyz launched ballistic missiles at a US forces' base in western Iraq.

The attack caused one Iraqi and possible American casualties, according to the CENTCOM.

"Multiple ballistic missiles and rockets were launched by Iranian-backed hard boyz in western Iraq targeting al-Assad Airbase," CENTCOM said in a social media post, which placed the time of the attack at 6:30pm Baghdad time (1530GMT) Saturday evening.

Most of the projectiles were intercepted by the base’s air defense systems but "others impacted on the base," the statement said.

"A number of US personnel are undergoing evaluation for traumatic brain injuries. At least one Iraqi service member was maimed," it added.

According to the Pentagon, dozens of US personnel have been lightly maimed in previous attacks since late October.

There are roughly 2,500 American troops in Iraq and some 900 in Syria.

Translated by badanov, Regnum adds:
The Ain al-Asad military base in western Iraq, which is used by the US-led international coalition, was attacked by more than 20 missiles, Al Hadath TV channel reported on January 20.

According to him, the shelling was carried out by Iraqi Shiite military groups. The rockets were fired from the nearby al-Baghdadi area in western Al-Anbar province.

Currently, the report notes, Iraqi security forces are combing the area from where a missile salvo was allegedly fired towards the military base.

After ban lifted, 100s of Antifa, etc protest in Haifa against Hamas war while in J’lem overexcited anti-Bibi protesters demand new elections

in Haifa’s Gay Paree Square, flanked by a smaller counterprotest of people holding up multiple Israeli flags.

The anti-war protest Saturday, the first licensed one in the northern district since October 7, features an array of flags that reflects the ideological diversity among the 40-odd organizations that teamed up to hold the controversial event despite initial refusal by the authorities to allow it.
“Awright, everybody: maaaaaaasks off!”
Among the flags on display are that of Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
, the former Communist Party of Israel,
...what fig leaf do they call themselves now?
the rainbow flag and the Paleostinian one.
So much for pretending they’re Israeli patriots.
Arab and Jewish participants chant about what they call Israel’s "genocide" against Paleostinians and call the government "fascist
...anybody you disagree with, damn them...
The protesters "know we don’t agree on everything but we’re united by a single cry," Amjad Shbita, the secretary-general of the Arab-Israeli left-wing party Hadash, says during a speech at the rally.

He reads out a list of five demands agreed upon by the organizing groups, which include Breaking the Silence, Yesh Gvul, Machsom Watch, Rabbis for Human Rights and Zochrot. The demands include an immediate end to the fighting in Gaza; a comprehensive prisoner exchange with Hamas; an end to the "political persecution" of Arabs in Israel, as Shbita put it; "full equality" for Arabs; and recognition that it is "legitimate to live as an Arab and have opinions," he says.

The counter-protesters aren’t buying the demands. "This is a rally meant to extract an Israeli surrender. To help terrorism, to harm Israel," says Yarden Or, who is protesting together with her two siblings and mother against the anti-war rally. "The talk of equality is just the wolf’s sheep clothing," she says. "It’s a pro-Hamas rally."
Yep.
At the anti-war rally, Ayman Odeh, a politician for Hadash, dismisses the allegations by pointing to the slogans and flags on display. "Do you see any Hamas banners?" Odeh, who has in the past called Paleostinian bully boyz "deaders," tells The Times of Israel.
Taqqiya.
The protest follows a petition filed by the organizers to the High Court of Justice against the police’s initial refusal to allow them to march on Saturday night in Haifa. The rally on Gay Paree Square on Saturday afternoon is a compromise agreed upon by the police following the petition.

‘Set a date for elections now,’ demand protesters in Jerusalem

[IsraelTimes] Hundreds gather outside the President’s Residence in Jerusalem for a protest organized by the Safeguarding Our Shared Home group, calling for new elections.

It’s been several weeks that the group, which organized last year’s weekly anti-judicial overhaul protests, has been calling for new elections.

The first speaker is Sigalit Tchernihovsky, whose son, Or Tchernihovsky, was killed at the Supernova desert rave on October 7.

“I’m asking for wiser agreements, for unified thinking,” says Tchernihovsky, who stops several times to swallow tears as she describes 29-year-old “Oriki,” who was “full of light” like his name.

“We want a different kind of leadership,” she demands.

The second and final speaker is Avner Vilan, a former Defense Ministry official who is now the CEO of a startup.

Vilan tells the crowd that he knows it feels unnatural to protest with soldiers on the borders, with hostages still held captive in Gaza, with evacuees not in their homes.

“People told you it’s not fitting to come protest tonight, during a war,” says Vilan.
Indeed.
“The problem is, no one will say when the war will be over.
When Israel wins because Hamas has been destroyed.
The government is running the war as if it’s a TikTok story. How can the IDF win if they have no idea what the plan is for after the war?”
Do you have a plan, or is it just to pooh-pooh anything the Netanyahu government proposes?
“Our demand is simple,” says Vilan. “Set a date for elections now.”
Stick it in your ear, you self-indulgent, overpaid tool of rich Progressives. The grown-ups are busy.

Hostages’ families rally at Netanyahu’s home, demand deal

Saturday’s adventures in Gazaland: Israel continues to demolish Khan Yunis, tunnel found - had held 20 hostages; PIJ rocket factory destroyed in north

IDF finds tunnel under Hamas commander’s home in Khan Younis where about 20 hostages had been held

[IsraelTimes] The IDF releases images showing the inside of a tunnel in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, in which Israeli hostages were previously held by Hamas.

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari says in an evening press conference that an entrance to the tunnel was found in the home of a Hamas commander.

He says troops battled Hamas gunmen inside the tunnel, killing them. The tunnel contained explosive devices and blast doors, he says.

Hagari says that one kilometer in and about 20 meters below ground, the soldiers found a large room where hostages had been previously held.

Some hostages held there have already been released, he says, noting that the soldiers found drawings made by five-year-old Emilia Aloni, who was released in November.

The area had five holding cells, each with a mattress and a toilet, he says.

According to Hagari, some 20 hostages were held in the tunnel at different times.

“According to the information we have, in this tunnel 20 hostages were held, at different times, in difficult conditions without daylight, with dense air, little oxygen, and terrible humidity which makes it hard to breathe,” Hagari says.

“Some were released some 50 days ago, and others are held in Gaza, possibly in even worse conditions,” he adds.

The IDF says the soldiers located and destroyed dozens of machines, including lathes, and a large amount of chemical and kabooms used to manufacture rockets. It estimates that with the equipment, Islamic Jihad would have been able to build some 800 rockets.

Several rocket launchers, embedded in the ground with long-range rockets in them, were also located in the area and destroyed, the IDF says.

Hamas says 165 Palestinians killed in Gaza in last 24 hours; death toll at 24,927

Hamas open to hostage deal with Israel
[GEO.TV] Paleostinian resistance group Hamas
...the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
has said that it does not want to keep Israeli hostages
Then why did it go to the trouble of capturing so many? Idiots.
and that it is seeking a new prisoner exchange deal with Tel Aviv, reported Al Jazeera.
Ah. That’s why.
In a statement, Hamas's political bureau member Musa Abu Marzouk said: "Israel will be forced to make a deal because it failed during more than a hundred days of war to recover any prisoners by force."
That first round of releases was the direct result of Israeli force. Not all force involves me holding a gun to your head.
Israel will either take its hostages back via a deal or take them as bodies, he added.
But what more would turning them into bodies cost you, O Hamas Politburo man?
Marzouk also praised Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
's Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
rebels — who have been targeting vessels connected to Israel in the Red Sea — in support of the Paleostinian people.

"What the Houthis are doing is real and effective solidarity with our people, and we express our appreciation," he concluded.
You do that.

Iranian 'Rocket 358' destroys an American MQ-9 Reaper drone
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:

[ColonelCassad] The American MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance and attack drone was very likely shot down in Iraq by an advanced Iranian missile known as the 358 Missile. It was formally launched by local Iranian proxies.

A distinctive feature of Rocket 358 is its compactness, which allows it to be launched by a small crew from a mobile platform like a pickup truck.

Using micro-turbojet engines, the rocket is thrown to the required height, after which the main engines are turned on and it begins to move towards the target. The missile can remain in the air for a long time and represent both a loitering munition (which has already been tested in combat conditions in Idlib, where Iran used it to destroy a fuel depot and in Afghanistan, where it hit a CIA air command post), and as a means Air defense, destroying helicopters, large and medium UAVs, attack aircraft and careless aircraft that do not expect that in the absence of active air defense systems, they can throw a missile from the ground at supersonic speed of 8 km (which is significantly higher than the standard ceiling of modern MANPADS), and then on main engines at a lower speed up to 12 km (in any case, these are the parameters stated for it) with a range of up to 100 km.

The appearance of this missile in service with Iranian proxies in Iraq creates additional problems for the United States.

The same missile is already in service with Hezbollah in Lebanon - at least 1 Israeli Hermes drone was hit by this missile.

Today, this is one of the most dangerous Iranian anti-aircraft weapons, which can be supplied to various irregular formations in various theaters of operations.

In general, this product is a dangerous means of asymmetric warfare.

[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it carried out a wave of airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.

The sites hit by fighter jets in southern Lebanon’s Odaisseh include an observation post, a rocket launch position and other infrastructure belonging to the terror group, according to the IDF.

The IDF says that overnight, tanks also carried out shelling in the Mount Dov area, to “remove a threat.”

The IDF adds that the sirens that sounded in the Galilee panhandle earlier were a false alarm.

An interceptor missile had been launched following a “false identification,” it says.

Meanwhile, two missiles were fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon in the last few hours, and the IDF says it is striking the launch sites.

There are no injuries in the attacks.

#3  Xyz — in Beirut Mossad has a tradition of getting the phone numbers list, presumably from a friendly insider in the phone company, and they clearly know all the phone numbers in use in Gaza, because we’ve had repeated reports that they call all a building’s residents to tell them to get out before dropping their bombs. Extrapolating to Damascus doesn’t seem much of a stretch.

Al Hadath: Ten civilians die in Israeli strike on Damascus
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
The Russian take on yesterday’s report .
[Regnum] At least ten civilians were killed when an Israeli air force struck a residential area in the west of the Syrian capital Damascus. Al Hadath TV channel reported this on January 20, citing medical sources in Damascus.
That’s what happens when you make sure your military target is surrounded by civilian human shields, a war crime. Next time put it out in the country or the desert or something, or accept your guilt.
It is noted that the strike was carried out on one of the houses on Mezze Avenue, which is located near the Iranian Embassy.

As reported by IA Regnum, on January 20, the SANA agency reported an Israeli missile attack on a residential building in Damascus. Before this, there were reports that explosions were heard in the city.

Reuters clarified that as a result of the attack, a member of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was killed and several other people were injured. The missile strike completely destroyed a multi-story building used by Iranian advisers supporting the Syrian government.

The IRGC later confirmed the death of four military advisers as a result of an Israeli strike on Damascus. In addition, the Al Hadath TV channel, citing a statement by the IRGC command, clarified that the commander of the intelligence service of the Al-Quds special forces, General Yousef Omid Zadeh, was killed along with military advisers.

More from regnum.ru, another Israeli airstrike in Damascus
IRGC reports the death of four military advisers during a strike on Damascus

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the death of its four military advisers as a result of an Israeli strike on Damascus, Press TV reported on January 20.

Three aircraft took part in the attack. The missile strikes were carried out on one of the mansions in the Mezze quarter in the west of the Syrian capital, where Iranian military advisers lived.

Also, the Al Hadath TV channel, citing a statement by the IRGC command, clarified that the commander of the intelligence service of the Al-Quds special forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, General Yousef Omid Zadeh,
...yesterday spelt by the Times of Israel as Sadegh Omidzadeh...
died along with military advisers.

As reported by IA Regnum, on January 20, the SANA agency reported an Israeli missile attack on a residential building in the Al-Mezze area of Damascus. Before this, there were reports that explosions were heard in the city.

Reuters later clarified that as a result of this attack, a member of the Iranian IRGC was killed and several other people were injured. The missile strike, he added, completely destroyed a multi-story building used by Iranian advisers supporting the Syrian government.

Another shelling of Damascus by Israel occurred on January 2. The Syrian defense ministry then clarified that the strikes were carried out on the sides of the Golan Heights. “A number of positions in the suburbs of Damascus” were attacked, causing material damage.

Israel captured the Syrian Golan Heights during the 1967 Six-Day War. In 1981, the Knesset (parliament) passed a law establishing Israeli sovereignty over the territory. UN Security Council Resolution 497 of December 17, 1981 invalidated the annexation.
