Al-Shabaab carries out gun and bomb attack in Kahda district, Mogadishu
[ShabelleMedia] An attack took place in Mogadishu’s Kahda district on Friday night, shattering a relative calm that has been witnessed since Hassan Sheikh took office.

The al-Qaeda-linked hard boy group al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
was reported to have carried out an ambush gun attack targeting a military police checkpoint in the district, according to the witnesses.

An official said the attack was repelled by the police and pushed back the attackers from al-Shabaab, who wanted to show their presence and power to hit any target in the city.

The night-time gun attack was followed by a kaboom in the morning which resulted from an IED planted in an area, where the police were manning a checkpoint to check the cars.

The details of the casualties remained unclear as local authorities did not release a statement regarding the gun and kabooms in the Kahda district in the Benadir region.

Arabia
Sad News: Missing Navy SEALS now considered dead after being lost in raid of ship with Iranian weapons
[NY Post] The 10-day search to rescue two Navy SEALs lost in the Arabian Sea during a mission to board a ship and confiscate Iranian-made weapons has been ended and the sailors are now considered deceased, the U.S. military said Sunday.

In a statement, U.S. Central Command said the search has now been changed to a recovery effort. The names of the SEALs have not been released as family notifications continue.

Ships and aircraft from the U.S., Japan and Spain continuously searched more than 21,000 square miles, the military said, with assistance from the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center, the U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Area Command, University of San Diego – Scripts Institute of Oceanography and the Office of Naval Research.

“We mourn the loss of our two Naval Special Warfare warriors, and we will forever honor their sacrifice and example,” said Gen. Erik Kurilla, head of U.S. Central Command. “Our prayers are with the SEALs’ families, friends, the U.S. Navy and the entire Special Operations community during this time.”

According to officials, the Jan. 11 raid targeted an unflagged ship carrying illicit Iranian-made weapons to the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Officials have said that as the team was boarding the ship, one of the SEALs went under in the heavy seas, and a teammate went in to try and save him.

The commandos had launched from the USS Lewis B. Puller, a mobile sea base, and they were backed by drones and helicopters. They loaded onto small special operations combat craft driven by naval special warfare crew to get to the boat.

In the raid, they seized an array of Iranian-made weaponry, including cruise and ballistic missile components such as propulsion and guidance devices and warheads, as well as air defense parts, Central Command said.

It marked the latest seizure by the U.S. Navy and its allies of weapon shipments bound for the rebels, who have launched a series of attacks now threatening global trade in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden over Israel’s war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The seized missile components included types likely used in those attacks.

The U.S. Navy ultimately sunk the ship carrying the weapons after deeming it unsafe, Central Command said. The ship’s 14 crew were detained.

During this expansive search operation, airborne and naval platforms from the U.S., Japan, and Spain continuously searched more than 21,000 square miles to locate our missing teammates. Search assistance was also provided by Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center, the U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Area Command, University of San Diego – Scripts Institute of Oceanography, and the Office of Naval Research – Oceanographic Support. Out of respect for the families, no further information will be released at this time.

“We mourn the loss of our two Naval Special Warfare warriors, and we will forever honor their sacrifice and example. Our prayers are with the SEALs’ families, friends, the U.S. Navy, and the entire Special Operations community during this time,” said General Michael Erik Kurilla, USCENTCOM Commander.

Caribbean-Latin America
GRAPHIC: Gulf Cartel Gunmen Dump Bodies in Cemetery, Media Shushed by Threats
[Breitbart] As Mexico’s government continues to be unable to address the raging cartel violence and the control that criminal organizations have over the northern part of the country, the Gulf Cartel once again flexed its muscles with complete impunity by dumping the bodies of two of their victims in a cemetery.

The incident took place this week in the border city of Matamoros, Tamaulipas. The Gulf Cartel fully controls this city, and they have been able to silence local news outlets into not covering their crimes. Earlier this week, a worker at the Santa Cruz cemetery returned from his lunch break to find two bodies on top of two graves that he was in the process of digging.

The cemetery is in the Las Rusias rural community, along the Matamoros-Reynosa highway. This area used to be outside the city but has since become part of the growing municipality.

The two men were wrapped in black plastic bags, showed signs of torture, and appeared to be between 30 and 35 years old. Local news outlets did not report on the crime.

While the men have not been identified, authorities recorded their tattoos to use them for identification purposes in the future. One of the men had an image of St. Jude on his calf, while the other had several tattoos, including a crucifix, the name Priscila, and various Middle Eastern characters.

The double murder is believed to be tied to internal conflict within the Gulf Cartel. As Breitbart Texas reported, the Gulf Cartel faction in Matamoros has been fighting with the rival faction in Reynosa for control of lucrative trafficking routes — despite false claims by government officials that all is well. This turf war led to expanded violence in the region while government officials have largely avoided clashing with cartel gunmen.

The violence in Matamoros is expected to spike in the coming days since, just days after the double murder, authorities in the neighboring state of Nuevo Leon arrested the leader of the Matamoros faction of the Gulf Cartel, Juan Alberto “La Kena” Garcia Vilano. As Breitbart Texas reported, the crime boss was out of town at a shopping center when authorities caught him. His arrest is expected to create a power vacuum that could escalate violence in the coming days.

9,000 attend yet another pro-Palestinian anti-Israel march to EU district in Belgian capital
[IsraelTimes] Israeli FM Israel Katz and Paleostinian Authority top diplomat Riyad al-Maliki are expected in Brussels on Monday to discuss war in Gazoo

Around 9,000 demonstrators marched through Brussels on Sunday calling for an end to Israel’s war against Hamas
...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
and the heavy bombardment of the Gaza Strip, in a pro-Paleostinian protest that ended in the EU district.

The march came a day before EU foreign ministers will meet their Israeli, Paleostinian, Egyptian, Saudi, and Jordanian counterparts in a string of meetings to discuss the ongoing war in Gaza and the plight of Paleostinian civilians trapped in the coastal enclave, which was plunged into war, following the deadly massacres carried out by Hamas inside Israel on October 7.

Participants in the "Justice for Paleostine" demonstration, which was described as having been peaceful, yelled out "Stop genocide," "Israel: terrorist," and "Free Gaza."

Some also cried out "EU, shame on you," for perceived inaction by Brussels to protect Paleostinian civilians, while others urged a boycott on Israeli goods and businesses.

Many of the attendees were seen holding printed signs with "Stop genocide" splashed across them in red, although other attendees held homemade signs sporting a variety of messages including one that declared that Israel "controls every country" in the world.

"We really need to unite against the genocide happening in Gaza and fight for an end to Israel’s occupation," said one demonstrator, Victor Dumont.

"No people deserve that, whatever side they’re on — it’s not possible," said another, Bahija Dioure.

On Monday, the 27 EU ministers will first meet with Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz, before sitting down separately with the Paleostinian Authority’s top diplomat Riyad al-Maliki.

Katz and Maliki are not expected to meet each other.

#3  Going to lay down the law to uppity Juden?

Laying down the law is the plan, Grom, only they haven’t quite agreed among themselves what that law is to be. Link

In addition, the European Union’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell will present a ten-point plan for peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

The EU has struggled for a united stance on the conflict in Gaza as staunch backers of Israel such as Germany have rejected demands for an immediate ceasefire made from the likes of Spain and Ireland.

EU officials have sketched out broad conditions for “the day after” the current war ends in Gaza, calling for a cessation to hostilities, the return of the Israeli hostages, an end to Hamas’s rule and a role for the Palestinian Authority in running Gaza.

At the heart of the plan is a call for a “preparatory peace conference” to be organized by the EU, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the League of Arab States, with the United States and United Nations also invited to be conveners of the gathering.

The conference would go ahead even if Israelis or Palestinians declined to take part. But both parties would be consulted at every step of the talks as delegates seek to draw up a peace plan, the document suggests.

The internal document, seen by multiple news organizations including Reuters, makes clear one key goal of a peace plan should be the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, “living side by side with Israel in peace and security”.

In a letter to member states, Borrell wrote that his roadmap will “elaborate, with practical proposals, on the agreed principle that only a political, sustainable, long-term solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will bring peace to the two peoples and stability to the region.”

According to Euronews, Borrell’s plan calls for full normalization between Israel and Arab states and would create an “initial framework” for Israeli-Palestinian peace within one year. There would be “robust security assurances” for both states, and the agreement would be “conditional upon full mutual diplomatic recognition and integration of both Israel and Palestinian in the region.”

Terrorists labelled as 'missing persons' killed in Pakistan's strike on Iran, claims Jan Achakzai
[GEO.TV] Caretaker Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
Information Minister Jan Achakzai has claimed that those who were being labelled by Baloch protesters as "missing persons" were in fact "terrorists" and killed in Pakistain's recent strike inside Iran, Geo News reported.

Pakistain on Thursday launched strikes on terrorists’ hideouts inside Iran, in a retaliatory attack two days after Tehran violated the country’s illusory sovereignty by launching a strike in Balochistan that left two children dead and injured three girls.

In a statement, the Pakistain Army had said the hideouts used by terrorist bad boy organizations, namely Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), were successfully struck in an intelligence-based operation, code named — "Marg Bar Sarmachar".

Addressing a presser in Quetta today, Achakzai rebuked the demonstrators holding a sit-in protest against enforced disappearances in Islamabad. "Those who were being labelled as missing persons were faceless myrmidons [and] killed in Iran," he claimed while referring to Pakistain's strikes inside Iran.

He alleged that Mahrang Baloch, who is leading the protest, has been staging "drama" and defaming Pakistain under the guise of missing persons issue.

The provincial information minister said Baloch protesters were staging the sit-in in Islamabad for ulterior motives.

"They could disturb the law and order situation. In such a situation, it becomes impossible to stop a terror incident. Those wearing masks in the sit-in can be faceless myrmidons of banned outfits," he added.

He said the hostile intelligence agencies could target the protestors’ camp to blame Pakistain. It is not a judicial matter, the ongoing protest camp in Islamabad should be dealt with by the city administration, he said.

Citing the Iranian claim that it targeted Jaish ul Adl in Pakistain, Achakzai said no such organization existed in Pakistain.

IDF says soldier held captive in Gaza was killed on October 7, body held by Hamas as the Reconquista continues
[IsraelTimes] Troops destroy firearms workshop, weapons, rockets and launcher in raid on Hamas site, battle terrorists; Gallant says operation in Khan Younis to widen.

The Israel Defense Forces announced Sunday the death of soldier Staff Sgt. Shay Levinson, 19, who was killed and kidnapped by Hamas
...a regional Iranian catspaw,...
on October 7, as the war against the terror group raged for its 107th day. Levinson served in the 7th Armored Brigade’s 77th Battalion, and his body was taken hostage from the Nahal Oz area, following a battle with hard boyz during the Hamas onslaught.

His death was recently declared by the Military Rabbinate based on findings and new intelligence information. While Levinson’s body remains in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, his family can sit shiva, the traditional Jewish week-long mourning period, according to Jewish law, religious authorities said.

Earlier in the day, the IDF announced the death of a soldier during fighting in the southern Gaza Strip over the weekend, bringing the toll of slain troops in the ground offensive against Hamas to 195. The fallen soldier was named as Sgt. First Class (res.) Uriel Aviad Silberman, 23, of the Kiryati Brigade’s 7421st Battalion, from Nehalim. The army said that another officer and a soldier of the same battalion were seriously maimed in the same battle.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Senate, Tremulus continued with his speech against Varius and his cohorts, watching as his colleagues dropped off to sleep one by one...
the campaign to eliminate Hamas persisted, with reservists of the Yiftah Brigade operating in central Gaza’s Maghazi camp locating a weapons manufacturing plant and a nearby rocket launcher armed with projectiles, the IDF said Sunday.

The military said the troops raided a Hamas site in Maghazi, where they located machinery used to build firearms in the yard of a home. Nearby, a rocket launcher was found, it said.

The machinery, weapons, rockets and rocket launcher were all later destroyed.

During the operation, the IDF said Hamas operatives fired an RPG at one of the unit’s tanks. The soldiers spotted the squad behind the attack, returned fire, and called in an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
, it said.

Some of the operatives were killed, while at least one fled and was later killed in a shootout with troops, after being spotted by the Yiftah Brigade’s observation company.

Despite the extensive operations, Hamas proved it was still capable of firing rockets, with warning sirens sounding in the Gaza border towns of Sufa, Kissufim and Ein HaShlosha in the afternoon.

The communities bordering Gaza have been largely evacuated of civilians since October 7.

Following a flight over the Strip with the Israeli Air Force’s 100th Squadron, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said the IDF will further expand its ground offensive in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis.

"We are carrying out an intensive operation in the Khan Younis area, and it will continue to expand," said Gallant.

"The plumes of smoke from the tanks, artillery, and Air Force planes, will continue to cover the skies of the Gaza Strip until we achieve our goals, chief among them, the defeat of Hamas and the return of hostages to their homes," he added.

According to media reports, Hamas’s leaders in Gaza are believed to be hiding in tunnels in the city, likely surrounded by hostages.

#4  but they are destroying all homes there.

Shows what you know, Thrans White2909. The game in Israel and the West Bank that goes on behind the scenes is that no sooner has Israel knocked one down than outside supporters of the Palestinians — generally the EU, but sometimes someone else — rebuilds it even better with all the latest doodads and whatsits that the family never had before. In Gaza, where each of Hamas’s little wars has resulted in more wholesale destruction, it’s Qatar and such who arrange the whole thing, except for a few wrecks left in picturesque heaps to provide the proper background for the news reports that people like you believe with all your dear little hearts.

Honestly, did it never occur to you to wonder how the population of Gaza could considerably more than double — to a claimed 2.3 million — if the destroyed apartment blocks were not rebuilt?

Israel says troops have seized around NIS 15m from Hamas strongholds in Gaza recently
[IsraelTimes] The Defense Ministry says that IDF troops have seized around NIS 15 million ($4 million) from Hamas
...a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
strongholds and the homes of wanted Hamas figures in recent weeks.

It says that around 1 million US dollars have also been seized, in addition to currencies from Iraq, Jordan and Egypt.

The ministry says that the money will be passed to the Defense Ministry’s finance wing and be placed in state coffers.

Would be well suited to a victim's compensation fund. $4m won't buy a lot of military but is a good seed for a therapy trust.

The World Bank report has been distributed to diplomatic contacts around the world on a bi-weekly basis since the outbreak of the war, and cites data on the damage and impact of the war.

Israel turns down Hamas's hostage release offer
[GEO.TV] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday rejected conditions presented by Hamas
...not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
to end the war and release hostages that would include Israel's complete withdrawal and leaving Hamas in power in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
"In exchange for the release of our hostages, Hamas demands the end of the war, the withdrawal of our forces from Gaza, the release of all [prisoners]," Netanyahu said in a statement.

"I reject outright the terms of surrender of the Hamas," he added.
Good. I was afraid the shrieking, anti-Bibi wing of the prisoner families would bully him into accepting.
A deal brokered in late November by the United States, Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
and Egypt saw the release of more than 100 of the estimated 240 hostages who were taken captive in Gaza during an attack by Hamas holy warriors on Oct. 7, in exchange for the release of 240 Paleostinians held in Israeli prisons.

Since that deal ended Netanyahu has faced mounting pressure to secure the release of the 136 hostages who remain in captivity.
The Times of Israel lays out the details:
The plan, whose complete implementation would take 90 days, would reportedly bring all fighting to an extended halt, during which time the Paleostinian terror group, in the first stage, would free all civilians.

Israel would simultaneously release hundreds of Paleostinian security prisoners, pull out of Gaza’s cities, allow freedom of movement in the Strip, cease drone surveillance over Gaza, and double the amount of aid entering the Hamas-controlled territory.

The next stage would see Hamas release female IDF soldiers and bodies of kidnapped Israelis, as Israel releases more Paleostinian prisoners.

The third phase would have Israel pull back troops to the Gaza border, while Hamas frees the last hostages — soldiers and fighting-age men it considers soldiers.

Egyptian officials told WSJ that there would then be talks about a permanent ceasefire, normalization between Israel and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
in addition to other Arab countries, and a new process leading to a Paleostinian state — something the current Israeli government is vocally opposed to.

Egyptian officials added that Israeli officials are pushing for a two-week ceasefire instead, and are avoiding talks about a permanent ceasefire.
*Snicker.*
Negotiations on a ceasefire are set to begin in Cairo in the coming days, according to the report.

The Prime Minister’s Office declined to comment.

Though the WSJ report did not indicate what would happen to Hamas in such an agreement, it did note that Hamas’s Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar — the mastermind of the October 7 massacres — and its Doha-based politburo leader Ismail Haniyeh have not spoken in a month, and are at odds over the potential demilitarization of the Strip.

Hezbollah operative killed in IDF strike in Lebanon, but main target said to survive
[IsraelTimes] Hezbollah operative killed in IDF strike in Leb, but main target said to survive

A Hezbollah operative was killed in an apparent Israeli dronezap in southern Leb

on Sunday, the terror group confirmed, although a security official said the target was a high-level commander who survived. The drone attack was carried out early on Sunday afternoon in the southern Lebanon village of Kafra, located in the Bint Jbeil district, a known Hezbollah stronghold. The car was said to have been traveling close to a Lebanese army checkpoint at the time of the attack. A short while after the incident, Hezbollah confirmed the death of Fadl Ali Salman, saying that he was "killed on the road to Jerusalem," which is a phrase the terror group uses to refer to operatives killed in its conflict with Israel.

Drones attack two US military bases in Syria
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Drones of the Shiite movement "Islamic Resistance of Iraq"
...the name is just a figleaf for whichever of the nearby Shiite catspaws happen to be around and have the free time to shoot off some rockets in the general direction of the American base...
attacked two American bases in Syria, the Saudi news channel AlHadath reported on January 21.

“Iraqi armed groups announced a drone attack on the Al-Shaddadi and Al-Omar bases in Syria,” the report said.

As Regnum reported, on January 20, the Ain al-Assad military base in western Iraq, which is used by the forces of the international coalition led by the United States, was attacked by more than 20 missiles. The shelling was carried out by Iraqi Shiite military groups. The rockets were fired from the nearby al-Baghdadi area in western Al-Anbar province.

The US Central Command later clarified that several American troops could have been injured in the attack.

Another American base near Erbil airport in Iraqi Kurdistan was attacked by drone on January 18. Al Arabiya TV channel reported that the sirens went off at the US Consulate due to the drone attack. Near the air harbor, local residents heard the sounds of explosions.

After these attacks, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and RT television channel Margarita Simonyan spoke about the danger of an escalation of the situation in the Middle East. According to her, the conflict could “escalate seriously” and become a prerequisite for a third world war, which could grow to incredible proportions. “Humanity still has to live to see the planned US presidential elections in November,” Simonyan said.

Hezbollah says it fired rockets in response to Israeli raid
Go for it. The more Israel degrades you now, the easier the inevitable war will go for them later.
[GEO.TV] Hezbollah has said that the attack that struck a home in Avivim was in response to an earlier Israeli raid on the Lebanese town of Kafra, al-Jazeera reported.

Leb

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
’s National News Agency had reported that the Israeli attack killed one person and injured another, but other Lebanese outlets said the raid claimed at least two people.

Shortly after the Israeli attack, the Lebanese group announced that one of its fighters was killed, identifying him as Fadl Ali Salman Shaar.
