[ShabelleMedia] Casualties are feared in northern Somalia after al-Qaeda-affiliated terror group al-Shabaab

launched predawn attacks Wednesday against an army base, local officials told Anadolu.

Heavy gunfire was exchanged during the multi-pronged strike on an army camp in northern Mudug province, a military official in the central state of Galmudug

said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The attack on the camp, located in the newly liberated village of Caad, was repelled, though "both sides" had suffered multiple casualties, the official said without elaborating on how many soldiers were killed.

Al-Shabaab grabbed credit for the attack and said it had overrun five military bases in and around Caad district and seized military vehicles.

The group in a propaganda statement said after the attack that it attacked bases housing 1,350 army soldiers and killed over 191 soldiers.

The Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported that the army, backed by locals, thwarted the al-Shabaab attack, inflicting "heavy losses on terrorists."

Houthis claim missile attack on US warship
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Militants of the Yemeni Shiite movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) shot down an American warship with a missile during a clash with US Navy destroyers in the Gulf of Aden and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. This was announced on January 25 by Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saria on the social network H.

He said a clash occurred between Houthi naval forces and several US destroyers and warships in the Gulf of Aden and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which were providing protection to two US commercial vessels.

“The operation resulted in a direct hit on an American warship and forced two American merchant ships to divert from their route,” Saria wrote.

The military spokesman clarified that the clash lasted more than two hours and during which Yemeni rebel forces used anti-ship missiles.

As Regnum reported, on the night of January 12, the United States and Britain launched missile attacks on Houthi targets in Yemen, calling it a response to attacks on their commercial ships in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

On the night of January 23, the United States and Great Britain again attacked Houthi targets in Yemen with Tomahawk missiles from warships and submarines. They also deployed fighter jets to destroy missile and drone depots and movement launchers.

The UK Navy's Maritime Trade Coordination Center (UKMTO) reported on January 24 a new attack on a British ship off the coast of Yemen. According to him, the attack occurred 50 nautical miles south of the Yemeni port of Moha.

The Languedoc warship has already been patrolling in the Bab al-Mandab straits since December 8 alongside a US-led international mission to protect ships from attacks.

In a weekly briefing to news hounds, the army said the Alsace warship had crossed the Suez Canal and would continue its mission in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean.

French officials have said their ships remain under national command and their priority is to escort French-linked vessels.

Resident of Ingushetia is wanted as a participant in hostilities in Syria
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Investigators suspected a resident of Karabulak of involvement in an international terrorist organization and put him on the international wanted list as a participant in hostilities in Syria.

According to the security forces, the 41-year-old man has been involved in the activities of an international terrorist organization, which is banned in Russia by a court, for about seven years.
Aaaaand that is all we know. No name, no organization, no deeds beyond the man going to Syria to fight by the beginning of 2017. So we’ll never know what happened to him.
According to the investigation, a resident of Karabulak left for Syria “no later than January 2017” and joined the militants there.

“As part of a (terrorist) organization, a man takes part in hostilities against the government forces of the Syrian Arab Republic,” says a message published on January 24 on the website of the republican department of the ICR.

The suspect has been put on the international wanted list and is charged with participation in the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of Russia). This article provides for ten to twenty years of imprisonment.

The message on the official website of the department does not name the suspect, but a publication on the Telegram channel “Rozysk Ingushetia” associated with the security forces states that the person in question is Belan Gandarov. The "Caucasian Knot" does not yet have confirmation of information about the identity of the suspect from other sources and comments from his representative regarding the published charges.

Lawyer defending Islamists herself became a defendant in a terrorism case
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Aza Aliyeva, a lawyer, became a defendant in a criminal case for justifying terrorism. An investigation has been launched against her, a source told IA Regnum.

The reason was that Aliyeva published a video on social networks with a militant and participant in the Chechen war Ruslan Gelayev (included in the list of terrorists and extremists).

The Investigative Committee confirmed that the investigation against the lawyer began on January 2. The criminal case is still against an unidentified person under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for terrorist activities) was initiated two days later.

As part of the investigation, Aliyeva was interrogated. She assured that she reposted the video with the terrorist, allegedly not knowing who was in the video. According to the lawyer, her goal was to show the “Chechen tragedy” and not to justify terrorism.

At the same time, psycholinguistic examination confirmed that the video contains a direct justification of terrorist activities and propaganda of extremism.

Additional studies have been ordered. Investigators intend to give a legal assessment of Aliyeva’s actions and identify others involved in the dissemination of extremist content.

In an interview with the foreign agent publication Kavkaz-Realii, Aliyeva herself stated that she could be arrested if a linguistic examination nevertheless sees terrorism propaganda in her actions. The case was initiated, according to the woman, after numerous complaints to the Investigative Committee about her publication. Aliyeva considered the appeals of indignant citizens to be “personal hostility” and exaggeration.

Aza Aliyeva positions herself as a human rights activist, but on the Internet and in the media she is more often called a Russophobe and a defender of extremists. In particular, she represented the interests of Magomed Atimagomedov, suspected of murdering a FSIN employee and attempting to escape from a colony due to the fact that he was “prevented from performing prayers.” After this, the prisoner complained about torture.

Khor Mor gas field attacked: officials
[Rudaw] Khor Mor gas field in Sulaimani province was attacked late on Thursday, a local official told Rudaw. No casualties have been reported.

A security source told Rudaw’s news hound Peshawa Bakhtyar that the Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) plants of Khor Mor, a key gas field operated by the UAE-based Dana Gas in Chamchamal town, Sulaimani province, has been attacked.

No casualties have been reported among the staff working in the field.

Ambulances and fire fighting units were dispatched to the location of the attack, a local official told Rudaw.

It remains unclear whether the attack was carried out with drones or rockets, according to the official.

In August, the gas field was attacked with two Katyusha rockets. A local official then told Rudaw that the rockets were fired from Tuz Khurmatu district, striking a location near to the place where the company's employees were resting.

This comes as the Kurdistan Region is under barrages of drone attacks by Iran-backed militias targeting military bases housing US troops.

[IsraelTimes] Police say undercover officers killed a Paleostinian gunman and arrested a second during a raid in the northern West Bank this morning.

Border Police officers operated in the village of Bir al-Basha, close to Jenin to arrest two wanted Paleostinians.

The pair, brothers, are suspected of previously shooting at Israeli forces, police say.

Police say that during the operation, one of the wanted Paleostinians came out of a building armed with an assault rifle and shot up the officers.

The Border Police officers returned fire, killing the gunman, and seized his weapon. The second wanted Paleostinian was detained, police say.

No Israeli casualties are reported by police or the IDF.

The IDF says troops detained another 16 wanted Paleostinians during overnight raids across the West Bank.

In Jenin, the IDF says engineering vehicles uncovered explosives hidden under roads in the area, as troops arrested seven terror suspects.

Troops returned fire at Paleostinian button men and seized weapons in the city, the army says.

Since October 7, troops have arrested more than 2,700 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 1,300 affiliated with Hamas

’s Khan Younis, killing button men with sniper fire, in close-quarters combat

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Thursday that more than 100 Hamas
...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
operatives had been captured by Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip in recent days, including some who surrendered after hiding in tunnels.

"Hamas is collapsing into its own tunnels that it painstakingly dug. Every place it thought would be a trap for IDF soldiers becomes an area where we hit it," Gallant said to soldiers of the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit during a visit to their base in southern Israel.

Gallant said Hamas has "hundreds of casualties underground" as a result of Yahalom’s actions.

"In the past day and a half, we have over 100 captives, some of them who came up from underground, in the Khan Younis area and also in other places, because they realize that they can’t fight against the IDF," he said.

According to the IDF, the Military Intelligence Directorate’s Unit 504 has interrogated some 2,300 Paleostinian suspects in the Gaza Strip, many of whom, suspected terror operatives, have been arrested and brought to Israel for further questioning.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, another bullet hole appeared in Butch's hat......
fighting intensified in the southern Gaza Strip on Thursday, amid a major offensive led by the 98th Division against Hamas in the Khan Younis area.

In their biggest operation in a month, Israeli tanks pushed through Khan Younis, where many Paleostinians sheltered after leaving the north — the early focus of the war. Large numbers of Paleostinians have now moved further south to Rafah, per Israeli instructions.

On Thursday afternoon, the IDF said soldiers of the division’s Paratroopers Brigade further expanded their activities in Khan Younis, releasing new footage showing Hamas operatives being killed by sniper fire and in close-quarters encounters.

The Paratroopers Brigade is operating in the Khan Younis neighborhood of al-Amal, where they have encountered numerous Hamas button men, raided the terror group’s sites, and seized and destroyed weapons, the IDF said.

The IDF said the soldiers located a large cache of firearms, grenades, bombs to be dropped from drones, and mortars during a raid on a Hamas site in the area.

In another raid, three Hamas button men shot up the troops. The IDF said the paratroopers returned fire, killing two of the operatives, while the third fled into a building.

Footage released by the IDF showed a drone sent by the brigade into the building to scan for the third gunman. The clip showed the gunman opening fire at the drone, before it cut to showing him dead after troops opened fire on him.

The IDF also released footage showing snipers of the Paratroopers Brigade killing Hamas operatives in the Khan Younis area. It said the snipers have killed dozens of Hamas button men so far.

Israeli strikes kill at least 50 Palestinians in Khan Younis in 24 hours
[GEO.TV] At least 50 Paleostinians were killed in Khan Younis in the past 24 hours, Ashraf al-Qidra, the front man for the Health Ministry in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
After UAV attack, IDF hits Hezbollah airstrip said built by Iran to launch drones
[IsraelTimes] Lebanese terror group claims to target Iron Dome; no damage or injuries caused as drones impact open areas in north

The Israel Defense Forces said it carried out a series of strikes on Thursday against Hezbollah targets in southern Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
, including an airstrip, as the Lebanese terror group claimed it had targeted Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system.
