[FoxNews] Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced on Wednesday that he is sending over 250 additional soldiers and officers, as well as aircraft and boats, to "protect" the state from vessels carrying illegal immigrants from Haiti – as gang violence has brought additional turmoil to the Caribbean nation.
The development comes amid ongoing unrest in Haiti, where the country’s powerful gangs have burned police stations, attacked the main airport and raided two of the country’s biggest prisons in the capital of Port-au-Prince.

An elite French university on Wednesday was dragged into the national spotlight, when a pro-Paleostinian demonstration sparked accusations of antisemitism.
Sciences Po, founded in 1872, is a hugely influential cornerstone of French elite education and a cradle of political power. Its alumni list features President Emmanuel Macron and several former French and foreign leaders, as well as top names in literature, media, culture and fashion.
Controversy struck the Sciences Po campus after around 100 students occupying the main lecture hall as part of a pro-Paleostinian demonstration on Tuesday were accused of barring entry to a Jewish student and insulting her.
The student — a member of the Union of Jewish Students in La Belle France (UEJF) that claims a national membership of 15,000 — was greeted with shouts of "Don’t let her in, she’s a Zionist," the union said on X, formerly Twitter.
’UNSPEAKABLE AND PERFECTLY INTOLERABLE’
The incident sparked condemnation at the highest level of government, with Macron telling Wednesday’s cabinet meeting that the remarks were "unspeakable and perfectly intolerable."
Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said the government would be filing a legal complaint over the incident, warning of an "active and dangerous minority" on campus.
But students on the ground said the government should be more circumspect in its condemnation.
"It’s really sad that unverified information is taken directly to the French president," said one student who declined to be named. "We don’t tolerate any form of antisemitism."
Another student told AFP that the Jewish student had been denied access to the lecture hall because "she previously intimidated pro-Paleostinian students" at the protest.
The student was the only representative of the Jewish student union to be barred from entering.
"Other UEJF members were able to take part in the debates," said the student, who declined to give her name.
La Belle France is home to the world’s largest Jewish population after Israel and the United States, as well as to Europe’s largest Moslem community.

“During the night of Tuesday, March 12 to Wednesday, March 13, damage was caused to the façade of the Shoah [Holocaust] Memorial. An impact from a pellet shot on a window…cracked the glass,” Jacques Witkowski, who represents the state in the administrative division, also known as department, of Seine-Saint-Denis, tells AFP. The incident falls under the department’s jurisdiction.
The Drancy Holocaust memorial was inaugurated in 2012. It commemorates the victims of the Vel d’Hiv round-up in July 1942.

Passengers planning to reach the terminal were told to get dropped off at the rental car center and take an air train to the terminal. There were no known flight delays.
Some travelers expressed their disapproval of the protest.

The indictment did not mention whether the victim was actually Jewish or Israeli, only that the defendant perceived them to be.
The defendant’s federal public defender did not immediately return a request for comment.

Two Paleostinians were killed during an Israeli military raid in the West Bank city of Jenin, and another two were killed during a clash with security forces near Jerusalem, Paleostinian media reported Wednesday morning.
The violence came in the wake of concerns that the Hamas ...a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",... terror group is pushing West Bank Paleostinians to engage in violence against Israel, as Moslems mark the holy month of Ramadan, which started earlier this week.
Paleostinian media reported that two men were rubbed out during an IDF operation in the West Bank city of Jenin early Wednesday morning. According to the reports, Rabih al-Nursi and Mahmoud Abu al-Haija were hit by gunfire, as Israeli forces approached the Khalil Suleiman Governmental Hospital. Four others were also hit by bullets and suffered various injuries, the official Paleostinian Wafa news outlet reported.
The IDF said in a statement the Jenin raid was one of several operations overnight in the West Bank during which seven wanted suspects were arrested.
In Jenin, soldiers arrested one suspect, confiscated weapons, and discovered explosives that were planted under roads, for use against security forces, the IDF said. During the activities, soldiers "fired at gunnies identified in the area" and confirmed hitting some of them, the statement said, without providing further details. There were no injuries to Israeli forces.Those arrested overnight were taken away for investigation, the IDF said.
In Jerusalem, police said officers shot five suspects who were preparing to throw Molotov cocktails at drivers on a road near Jerusalem. Paleostinian media reported that two of them were killed. Police had been staked out near Route 436, which connects the north-western Jerusalem Jewish neighborhood of Ramot and the West Bank settlement of Givat Ze’ev, after suspects were seen on security camera footage hurling Molotov cocktails at cars along the road on Monday night. Security forces opened fire after spotting a group of five suspects who lit Molotov cocktails with the intention of throwing them at drivers, a police statement said. All five were hit, it added.
The Paleostinian media outlet Wafa cited the Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy Society as saying its medics received two fatalities and three injured people at a checkpoint near the West Bank town of al-Jib. Wafa identified the two fatalities as Zaid Ward Shukri Khalifa, 23, and Abdullah Mamoun Hassan Assaf, 16.
The shooting near came hours after Border Police rubbed out a 13-year-old on Tuesday, as he was launching fireworks during festivities with security forces.
Violence continued Wednesday with a Paleostinian stabbing two people at a checkpoint near Jerusalem, lightly injuring them. The assailant was shot and killed.
The Ynet outlet reported that there were also disturbances this week by security prisoners in both the Megiddo, Ofer, and Kezitot prison facilities. In Ofer, wardens used force to overcome rowdy prisoners, four of whom were maimed and required medical treatment.
A Palestinian teen stabbed two people at a West Bank checkpoint near Jerusalem Wednesday, as tensions in the capital threatened to ramp up ahead of key Friday prayers for Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Both victims were hospitalized with light injuries, medics and hospital spokespeople said. The assailant was shot dead, police said.
The pair were identified as a 25-year-old man working as a civilian security guard, and a 19-year-old woman serving with IDF Military Police, according to authorities.
The attack took place at the so-called “Tunnels” checkpoint, on a highway that links the Etzion settlement bloc to Jerusalem via two tunnels bypassing the Palestinian West Bank city of Bethlehem.
“The area has become a choice location for terror attacks,” Israel Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai said from the scene. “This is the third time in a row. There are too many extremists trying to escalate the situation, and they’re on social media too.”
Attacks last occurred at the checkpoint in November and October.
The Magen David Adom emergency medicine service said both victims were taken to hospitals in Jerusalem, where they were listed in good-to-moderate condition.
Police said the assailant was shot by security forces at the scene. Images from the scene showed the suspect lying on the ground after being shot. He was later declared dead.
Police identified the assailant as Muhammad Abu Hamed, 15, from the West Bank town of al-Khader, near the checkpoint, which sits on Route 60, the West Bank’s main north-south thoroughfare.
According to police, Abu Hamed arrived at the checkpoint on a bicycle, and as security forces attempted to question him he drew a knife and began stabbing people.
A civilian guard at the checkpoint attempted to physically halt him before IDF troops stationed in the area opened fire and fatally hit him.

The Israel Defense Forces said that a strike Wednesday on an UNRWA facility in Rafah was a successful operation to kill a Hamas commander.
Hamas claimed that five people were killed in the strike, and UNRWA said that at least one of its staff members was killed.

The IDF said that Muhammad Abu Hasna, a commander in the terror group’s operations unit, was eliminated in the strike. According to a joint statement from the IDF and the Shin Bet, Hasna was involved in seizing humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip and distributing it to Hamas operatives.
Muhammad Abu Hasna was involved in “integrating extensive activity of the various Hamas units, was in contact with the field operatives of Hamas and directed them,” the IDF and Shin Bet said in a joint statement.
The statement said Abu Hasna was also tasked with a Hamas intelligence war room that collected information on IDF movements in the Strip.
The IDF and Shin Bet also accused Hasna of involvement in seizing humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip and distributing it to Hamas operatives.
Abu Hasna’s elimination “significantly harms the functioning of various Hamas units in Rafah,” the statement added.
The IDF published footage of the strike on Abu Hasna.

The broad daylight strike, which also killed a passerby, turned a vehicle near Rashidieh, on the outskirts of Tyre, into a mangled, flaming wreck. An AFP photographer reported seeing rescue workers collecting human remains at the scene.
Hamas identified one of the victims as Hadi Mustafa, who was a member of the terrorist organization.
The Israel Defense Forces said it had targeted Mustafa, describing him as a "central operative" in the terror group and a "leading figure" in a Hamas unit in Lebanon headed by Samir Fandi, who was assassinated in Beirut along with Hamas deputy leader Salah al-Arouri in January.
"Hadi was involved in directing terror squads and in terror activities on the ground, including advancing attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets in various countries throughout the world," the IDF said in a statement.

Two security sources said a Syrian man who was passing by on his cycle of violence was also killed in the strike. All three sources said the drone hovered in the air above the site of the strike for several minutes after it was carried out.
Israel later released a video showing the strike, apparently taken from the drone.
On Tuesday, Hezbollah that it launched "more than 100 Katyusha rockets" at two military bases in the Golan Heights. There were no reports of damage or injuries from the Hezbollah rockets, with footage showing some of the projectiles being intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system.
Hezbollah said the attacks were a response to an Israeli strike Monday night near Baalbek, a Hezbollah bastion deep inside Lebanon bordering Syria to the east. The IDF said it had targeted facilities belonging to Hezbollah’s "aerial unit." The terrorist organization claimed one civilian was killed in the strike.

The strikes have drawn daily Israeli responses. Most of the skirmishes, however, have been contained to areas near the border.
Wednesday morning saw fresh rocket launches against northern Israel, setting off sirens in the northern kibbutz of Hanita. One rocket fell short in Lebanese territory, while two landed in open fields in the Golan Heights and caused no injuries.
Israel has not grabbed credit for a January 2 strike in southern Beirut that killed Arouri and Fandi, but on Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted that it was behind it, saying in a public statement that Israel had taken out the terror group’s fourth highest-ranking figure, and would come after its other leaders as well.
War in Gaza between Israel and Hamas broke out on October 7 with the terror group’s unprecedented attack on Israel’s south in which faceless myrmidons murdered some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapped 253.
Israel has hit more than 4,500 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, the IDF said on Tuesday.
According to the IDF’s estimates, more than 300 Hezbollah operatives have been killed, including five senior commanders, and 750 have been maimed by Israeli strikes across five months of daily skirmishes along the border. Hezbollah has claimed 244 members were killed.
Another 40 operatives from other terror groups have also been killed in strikes on southern Lebanon, as well as a Lebanese soldier and at least 30 civilians, three of whom were journalists.
The near-daily exchange of fire along the shared Israel-Lebanon border has caused seven civilian deaths on the Israeli side as well as the deaths of 10 IDF soldiers and reservists.
